Rose Combos and Glitches

Are you asking about her super (aura soul spark) or her ultra (illusion spark) I’m going to assume that you are talking bout her ultra since you are talking about using EX moves in your combo’s. Her ultra by itself (assuming you have a full ultra meter) does about 500 points of damage, her super by itself does 300 points of damage. But it’s damage diminishes (as do all characters supers) if you use it in a combo.

For instance if you jump in hk, hp, hp reflect then juggle with her super, the super will only do 200 points of damage, but the combo will do 440 points of damage total.

i was talking about the super. trying to compare the difference in damage between the fadc combo and the super itself. given that combo you just posted id still say meter is better used to fadc for damage since a combo fadc’d into drill is approx 313 or so (i cant remember exactly) for only two meters. true that combo does more but at the cost of a full meter. granted i still have two meters saved even if i mistime something i can still use that fadc to my advantage to either escape or apply more pressure into something stupid depending on the character of course.

I am not positive, and cant test it since I am at work, but I’m pretty sure EX Spiral is the only thing that can connect from this.

naw i tried it yesterday hk drill connects also anyways things i tested out…

c.lp c.lk c.mp xx lp spark only works on big characters like zangief and sagat. i did all these combos last night before i went to sleep and made sure i wrote down every little detail that came to mind. then i tried these same combos this morning on guile since i had tested something else using his fireball since its slow and thats when i found out that lp spark wont combo after that link combo but its cool. as far as the damage data i was asking about. this was all tested on sagat by the way at midscreen.

the timing on linking c.lp into sc.lk into drill is still iffy to me since i cant pause as long as the other combs to actually link the sc.lk xx drill from c.lp but i know its possible looking at it. i tried doing sc.hk c.lp lp spark into another fadc but they can block after the c.lp :sad: that last combo isnt all that great since it eats three bars for nothing fudamentally good. im sure some of these, if not all of these, are already well known or obvious and if so i apologize for posting them again but they give better options then just using meter to combo into super or having to use ex meter plus fadc to get similar combos. out of all those combos the only one i would probably use ex spark for is the first one on regular sized characters but even then it would still only do a few extra points of damage when you could go for one of the other three without having to worry bout missing spark from midscreen and have less hits so more damage.

oh another note which ill put in the other thread as well but i set the computer to all block and did lp spark fadc dash twice reflect it blocked the fireball backwards :tup: tested again and this time attacked around the same time it hit and the computer spazzed flipping back and forth. couldnt settle with that so i switched to dhalsim to see how it would react to ultra teleport s.bhp xx fireball and it spazzed again. i dont know if dhalsims is unblockable or not but if it is and they are sharing this property then rose has a toned down version of an unblockable :shrug: could be useful maybe not.

also with that being said you can double reflect an opponents fireball, not recommended obviously, but fadc the first reflect dash twice like normal then reflect again it causes the same affect. and im sure this is known already also but you can only super cancel reflect on hit or when it actually reflects a fireball just throwing that part in. oh and lastly c.hk doesnt fadc so if its blocked youre screwed pretty much. hopefully some of that was helpful if not then sorry for the long repetitive post. :shrug:

I just can’t get used to the jumps in this game. Sometimes when I throw out one of Rose’s long-ranged pokes, the opponent jumps slightly before I do it. Then my only option is to block the jump in and deal with the mix up that follows.

I’ve been watching some of Saqs’ videos, and have a couple questions:

  1. when you do the cross-up MK, C.LP, (C.LP or C.LK), C.MP xx Spiral, exactly which ones are links? Also, does it matter which level of Spiral you cancel into? I feel I’m not at the level to start incorporating link combos into my play yet, are there any easier combos to start with after a cross-up MK?
  2. how do you know when you can try to cross someone up without eating a dragon punch or similar AA?
  3. Things like dash-forward->throw, or slide->throw, is there any trick to it other than timing? A lot of times when I try to do stuff like this I get hit before I can do the throw.

In adding the © what do you mean? I’m not familiar with a some of the terminology used here. (Despite coming here semi-regularly for as long as I can remember)

Well for all 3 situations, practice is the only thing that’s gonna help. BUT for the drill combo, it depends on how close/far away your opponent is. All strengths of her dtill can combo off c.mp, it’s usually a matter of distance. EX drill is your best bet though. An easier crossup combo is crossup mk. crouching mp/hp ,drill/spark.

Not sure if it works on everyone but:

I tried this in training and can’t seem to get c.mp to connect the opponent appears to be too far away by that time. Maybe I’m missing the timing? (tested against Ryu)

wow…clearly i’m only using 10% of my Rose brain. back to training mode for me…

they look deceptively simple. There are quite a few 1-frame links in there. Great skill.

Take out one of the c.lps and you can do lk drill, at least on shotos anyway. Haven’t tried it on smaller peeps. This is her best combo imo. Unless you have a beefed up super, just use this seeing as a default super from the crossup combo does 110 more damage and like 115 less stun. So if you can land that combo twice…:tup: But I’m SUCH a whore for comboing into super:rofl:

I was messing around in training and found a couple of ways to combo into rose’s ultra.

  1. at a distance both Soul Spark and EX Soul Spark can be focus canceled to catch the stun with roses ultra. (Ex. Soul Spark(Distance), FADC, Ultra)
  2. Up close EX Soul spark is where it’s at.(Ex. (Close) EX Soul Spark, FADC, Ultra)
