RoninWarriors Custom Arcade sticks

Nice paint Ronin!!!

thanks bro, hey can you pm me your address I seem to of lost it lol. sorry

thanks guys!
@Bertross naw to make it look like that you have to hand sand it, my fingers and sand paper. no bit will do that, what I do is curve the ring around the button hole after I make a counter sunk hole around the button hole. I don’t use a router I have messed up too many cases with routers lol.

I just found my new love, Urethane lol. wet sanding is so easy but buffing takes alot longer to get a shine. here is a section of the polished part. I am very impressed and it is rock solid. No more having to worry about scratches Yes I am so freaking happy right now!

d3v- lol, this is the cyber case that was blue and silver. I painted it black because when I went to scuff sand it (so I could Urethane over top to make it a stronger finish), I kinda went too far on one edge and sanded the blue off, I was flipping out I just kept saying “why did you touch it you f-ing idiot” over and over till my girl woke up and bitched at me lol. so I went ahead and sanded it down again. went with black since this is my only personal stick I want to make it interchangable if I get board with Cyber.

Awesome sauce! Well, when I’ve thought of colours, I’ll let you know haha. I’m stuck on that atm.

But nice case! Really loving the shape of it.

Thanks Ronin it was doing y head in! i think i might have to ditch the aussies hardwoods are they take ages to sand to a smooth finish and i dont exactly want to paint a nice gain of hardwood :D.

I was thinking to save time mate to buy myself a Demel 400 with the round sanding tool and make the curve that way. I could also make recessed areas as i please with it to or even engrave my own Plexiglass tops and or Dust cover. ATM for my holes i was using a hand held drill with a 38mm spade bit and then go down about 5mm then do the reverse then finish the centre with the 30mm.

Better than a hand chisel :stuck_out_tongue:

@Bertross if you plan to use the Dremel for shaping round corners on your cases, for example, be careful. Because of its tiny contact surface, you will not have a uniform surface using the Dremel only. You can try getting close to the desired shape and finishing it by hand or mounting a drill with a sanding disk static on a bench to make it more even.

I have a dremel routing table support that I adapted attaching the base to a thick piece of plexi so I can use it a a hand router to make recesses - gonna try it this weekend and see how it goes.

Ronin, cool work once again. What a great mirror finish!

figured I would post the cyber case with the Spraymax 2k polished and completed. this stuff is the bomb it looks so silky and smooth in the sun. Next I will be posting the Thor stick just need a cpl more things and I can start putting it together. It will be done before EVO

I do love that finish bro

I had to test it before I sprayed yours I am glad I did because I did not use enough. That is why I ordered an extra can just incase, with this stuff it’s best to spray it in one day so all the coats are wet and can set together. I also had to make sure it was not going to effect the paint I use, that is all I would need lol. I spray it and it starts to bubble up on me. it has happened before using lacquer but I think this stuff is good over anything. I am just glad I found something that is Professional grade. yours will be the first to have this new clear coat. besides my case. It cost way more but is way worth it.

I just can’t get tired of looking at that finish. This is the best paint job/finish I’ve seen. Very inspirational for noobs like me.

BTW, where’s RW???

That shine is magnificent! Note to self: Don’t use RoninWarrior Sticks outside at ANY tournament held on a sun-shiny day unless I have sunglasses and can use it to my advantage to blind my opponent.

this is true wise one lol, I’m here just busy with all kinds of stuff. trying to get my job back, I have been on the phone for like a week trying to get me switched to another sector so I can get some of the overtime that everyone is raping. lol. Plus I hate being laid off. I guess if the money was better I wouldnt mind but I am struggling a little so I would love to be called back to work.

I get my clear coat shippmet on monday so I will be posting the Thor stick soon. ALSO MY GIRL IS FINALLY DONE WITH MED SCHOOL WOOOO, NOW I CAN MOVE TO A BIGGER PLACE! I have been waiting for this moment for like 5 years. No more cutting up wood in the living room wooohooo and having chemicals all over the house. plus once this all happens my production will shoot up like mad. I will be able to cut wood all day and night if I want and not just 1 hr out of the day in a apt house with other people.

I am glad I can add to inspire like I was when I started, thanks to (souji5) he was the one that inspired me to be better.

Wow this is awesome.
I might even want to try this.

Can you make a video on how you create yours?

It would be a long vid lol. which part? the start to finishing painting tech. or the wood working. the sanding and polishing tech? the panel constuction. In the thread I give lots of tech on how to do it. only reason I don’t film me painting is because the amount of Overspray generated would get into the camera and on the lens. so I have yet to make one. but if you look through this thread you should find enough info to get started! =) thanks bro

Yo RoninW! Nice to see you back! Great perspective with a new place! The pain in the ass of living in an apartment and not having the space and proper location/ventilation to do all the woodworking and chemicals part is terrible. I know what you mean. :frowning:

I just could not find a masking tape narrower than 12mm here and I wanted to make a thin stripe so, trying to improvise, I made little screw ups and during the fixes I made new screw ups and my paint job is pretty lame now. I’ll lacquer the bastard so I can put my stick working, since it’s my first decent arcade stick EVER and I want to use it! Can’t play SSF4 on a pad! And probably later I’ll build another case frame to replace this one, hopefully better executed will all the acquired experience from my mistakes and using a lot of your tips.

@wiseless
yeah man I went through alot of cases and I must of striped and repainted 7 times in my building. I would make one tiny mistake and it would drive me nutz. but after that many times I learn a whole heck of alot. so the more you go the better they will look. for small pin stripes I would use 3m vinyl tape it’s blue with a white holder. that stuff works great. or just get some automotive pinstriping tape and clear coat over it. like I did with the MINI stick. also the paint paper is great for masking large areas to save on tape. but if you want really thin stripes I would suggest the pinstripe tape.

I don’t recall where in SRK I got this link from, but do you know these?

You can check any RC hobby shop. Here’s a link toTower Hobbies.

yeah that be it, great stuff. easy to bend and shape too.

I started making a stick, a prototype i guess i want to do something’s that haven’t been done yet but I’ m unsure how it will work out. esp when I go to paint it, I may run into lots of drip areas .
Found some cheap led lights and took them apart. I like that their cased in already, that is why I use em makes for easy install.

ADD:(months later) wow wires everywhere sorry about that. those buttons need many wires thats probably why.

Gosh it’s been a while since you’ve posted here. Looking good!
