Here is the Vampire Knight/Yuki Cross remake stick/ new paint job, different art and a Lexan panel instead of plexi glass also this time I mounted the stick to its correct height. I also added ultraviolet LED"s in the first 6 buttons. I have the intensities set to light=lp, medium=mp, bright=hp same for the kicks.

SHADOW i think im going to just use the smoke plungers for the back buttons intead of the purples. since i changed the hue of the art it doesn’t match anymore.

just a couple cases I have bin working on and a painted voltech case I did that will have to be reworked a little, first time painted metal so I messed up a little but a easy fix.
I didnt wet sand the voltech case paintjob yet because I have to recoat it with more paint.
the wood cases are made for sanwa or seimitsu sticks,

I love the fact that I can mix my own colors now instead of trying to look everywhere for the right one.
this is just the base coat and it is a two stage paint(pearlized) I am liking the results alot. I’m using the normal createx paint for now. You do have to heat set this paint though, i just use my oven. I plan to use that light blue pearl for accents just haven’t figured out what I want to do with it yet
when I get good with it I will start really painting with it, I want to be able to paint images and designs on my cases free hand. I think that would be sick!!! I love GraveDriggers Airbushed art, the art on his TRUCK I want to make something like that soon. lol Well when the good paint gets here I can start trainning with it. I’m just using it as an air gun for now but I really want to master it.

thanks bro!!! I really wanted to do the SENT case but without a compressor there is no way I can pull it off with pressure cans. I did paint the cyber case with the airbrush and I also did pin stripes around it but I will wait till im done to post the final. Also I am going to try and illuminate the art work like his eyes, lettering and symbol. by using a black piece of contact and blacking out everything but those spots. so when the white LEDS come on those things should glow. I use lexan and plexi for my top and control panels so this should be cake. I can’t wait to finish it and show everyone.

so I was thinking use that image you sent me for the background and I’ll find a good foreground shot to use of thor. and use the same kind of layout, with transperencies. It should be pretty sick esp if I do the light up art for that one as well.

I added 3 more white LEDS TO really make his eyes and mouth glow.
I’m glad I am done with it, now I can start my other projects!!
I’m going all out with my light up tech, I think all RWX editions will have a light up in the art. when I add the LED to the buttons(white) this thing will be complete, just broke and can’t afford the inserts and board.

I’m doing my first paintjob on my first stick and man the thing is tricky. I see you guys mentioning all the sanding involved between coats, but if my coat is thin and I sand it with a grit 600, even being careful and using extra light pressure my corners will sand off to the wood. :wasted:
So after almost completely sanding off my first two light coats of primer (and it was ok, since the wood grain was still slightly visible), I applied two substancial coats with intervals of a couple hours and a very light and quick (like 4 passes) sanding with 600 grit.
(yep, I didn’t know how to support the piece while painting until I saw your method using long screws on each side :bgrin:)
It seems good now and I’m planning on using a couple more (lighter) coats of primer, but I’m still concerned with all the sanding I was supposed to be doing. :wtf:

yeah the sanding sucks and there is alot of it. if you sand the primer then paint it, wait 30 to 40 min for your color paint to dry then put a cpl clear coats on it, with a acrylic laq (try and use acrylic paint too) or automotive paints work good. but after that all cures then take your 600 grit scuff the surface and then lacquer the shit out of it put many coats on I use 5 cans of dupli color perfect match clear on all my sticks. then after that dries and cures you can wet sand with 1500 then 2000 if you can get 3000 use that too. then you can start polishing.
I freaking hate when I hit an edge. I take it slow and easy when I hit the corners, never sand the corners leave as much clear on as possible or round your edges to make it easier to wet sand

I would have to sell 2 customs to afford it or get called back to work. but for now I will do what I can with the pressure cans. your mini is going to be ballin as well!!! oh and I am making a mini stick for myself that matches the cyber stick lol. And I am going with the 30mm balltop for the mini it looks great. mini balltop lol.

I read a couple of posts telling to lightly sand the layers of paint too. Do you do that too?
All sprays I’m using are acrylics, from primer to lacquer. No use pointing the brands since I’m in Brazil :razzy:
The manufacturer instructions suggest around five coats of lacquer, but I guess since my stick is not big, a can will provide more than that. I wonder how thick that layer of lacquer would be after 5 whole cans! :wow:
I plan on painting a white background and use electrical tape as masking tape for a stripe (B15SDM tip on a post) and go for coats of black. Hope it works…
