cutting down the soldering points definitely helped. before i had to force the gate in, but now it snaps in fairly easy. Game Controllers app shows all directions working. will test out thoroughly in game tomorrow.
This helped, but still getting inconsistent results. I tested all the inputs before attaching the gate and all were responding. However, as soon I attached the gate, the UP and now also RIGHT doesn’t respond. I’m assuming that attaching the gate shifts the PCB around a little. Either way, thanks for the help.
I forgot to mention that I also cut off the two little black nubs that stick out the bottom of the pcb, they also get in the way of it sitting all the way down in the housing. I didn’t cut them completely off, just enough so they don’t stick out.
I spent a couple hours using it today and it hasn’t done anything strange.
yea i cut off teh solder points the first day i got it too thinking it would fit better, but not for me. mine didnt touch at the bottom but it still wasnt seated correctly in the thing.
so i cut off the solder points, drilled the holes to 9/64th of an inch (I think) and got the pcb to sit flush on the jlf, however my pcb won’t detect certain directions with the pcb protector and the square gate on. it also won’t detect a certain direction with either one on, only, respectively.
these sensors are D3 and Q2. without any protection, and if the actuator can get as close as it wants to the sensors, it will detect. but with just the pcb protector, it won’t detect in that direction. then i tried it with just the pcb and the square gate, and those two sensors failed to register as well. lastly, if i had all the pieces on; pcb, pcb protector, and square gate, couldn’t get D3 and Q2 to detect my inputs as well as D2 and Q3.
I notice that the sensors on the board I have sit a little high on the pcb. The black cover can’t sit all the way down. Mine still worked, but maybe that could be why other people are still having trouble, not sure though.
any news or other reviews for this? trying to keep this alive
I know right, but it is the weekend and I’m assuming the Happ engineers and John took the weekend off.
That’s what I figured too.
Ok, this is the story. Happ will make a new batch of boards. The people that are having problems will receive a new board.
They are aware of the issues and will fix them.
Thanks,
Ponyboy
ETA on the new batch?
x24, I am taking all the boards to Happ today. Hopefully I will have that answer for you tonight.
Thank you,
Ponyboy
yo ponyboy did u got my email?
Thanks. I assume you won’t be accepting orders right now until things start looking good.
I was at Happ today. We are pre-paring the boards with the corrections. I will let you know when the boards will ship out.
Thanks,
Ponyboy
x24, that is correct. There are only 2 problems with the board. The solder points and the mounting holes. Electronically the board is fine.
We tried 2 boards with the corrections and they worked flawlessly.
Thanks,
Ponyboy
