I’m having the same issue. With the black plastic cover, my stick isn’t registering Up. It isn’t the pcb problem, but something with the “eyes” that blocks the signal when used with a square gate
Even without the square gate on my stick with the black plastic piece on. It still wont register up
Edit: actually. After shifting the pcb around in circles. even with the black plastic piece off. It still doesn’t register the two points “D3” and “Q2”
It seems like the PCB isn’t quite fitting into the JLF as smoothly as possible. Not sure if this is the source of the problem though. The four pins on the JLF don’t fit the holes provided by the Flash1, I might have to do some sanding on the JLF or the Flash1 to make it fit snug
yea i noticed that too but i didnt think it was a significant issue as the last time i tested with everything back together it was alright. however i did retest it after lunch and the issue came back again, this time in the down-right position. gotta keep testing
I was about to jump the gun on a Spark when the news about the rerelease of the Flash basically pushed me back on hold mode. The goodies do sound nice but i guess the spring is the only goodie i’m rather intersted in.
Hopefully your new CE project gets done soon. I’m back to hold mode again now that i have another option.
Can you guys post pics of what you are talking about? I didn’t have any issues with the sample they sent me a while back. hopefully we can get to the bottom of the problem.
OK i’m having a problem with mine but not like what was mentioned by the above posters. i have a Hori vx-sa dual modded with a chimpSMD. i connected the power on the Flash1 to the vcc screw terminal on the chimpSMD. arcade stick not recognized in game controllers applet. disconnect vcc line, arcade stick is recognized. Soldered the power line directly to vcc on the vx-sa pcb. same issue, no arcade stick recognized. disconnect the power line from Flash1 and arcade stick appears.
is my flash1 pcb faulty? or am i doing something wrong?
edit: tried the OEM usb cable with the stock vx-sa and that did it. i guess my usb cable that i have hooked up to the chimpSMD is no good.
I just got mine, although I have to wait for a friend to help solder the wires appropriately.
I’m installing it in a JLF. The Flash1’s pcb doesn’t really drop in as smooth, and it didn’t feel like everything was leveled because the pcb wiggled up and down a bit. I snapped in the gate restrictor though and it seemed to lock everything in place.
I’m a little sad to hear that there are problems, but I suppose it’s expected since I think these are first batch products. I’ll report my stick’s performance once everything is wired up and I have time to test it.
If you are having any types of issues with the Flash 1 please post your issue with pic’s.
PunkPC will be helping me out with the tech issues. So, one of us will get back to you ASAP.
i havent thoroughly tested it out yet, but i just checked it in Game Controllers app while slowly riding the square gate and my directionals do register. while doing relatively fast 360 motions i noticed that some corners missed inputs(in my case up-back and down-forward), unless i rode the shaft all the way to the corner of the gate. it may just be the app though, i haven’t tested in game yet.
i’ll be posting pictures of the fitment issues in a minute. im sure most of the fitment issues are due to some of the holes not lining up with the nubs on the jlf’s bracket.
stay tuned
EDIT: its my first time using flickr so bear with me.
not entirely sure what i was thinking when i was typing up the solutions.
I got mine installed, wiring the 5v harness onto the Madcatz pcb. In all honesty I took a shot in the dark and assumed you had to solder the harness to the red usb wire. Thankfully it worked and I feel like less of an idiot for guessing right.
Anyway, I tested it out with some umvc3 in training mode with inputs on, I’m using the softer spring that came with the kit. Also using a square gate.
The throw distance with this spring feels just like a regular JLF, without the clicking of course. It took me a couple minutes to get used to, but now I’m very consistent with my combos, and I can pull some things that were never consistent such as Morrigan’s fireball spam which involves constant half circles.
Basically put, it functions just like my JLF, all the directions work and the diagonals are always consistent. I’m glad mine is working fine, good luck to everyone that has been having problems.
tbh id rather have it flush as it was designed to be, just so i know there wont be any headaches down the road. but if i works fine then maybe you hit a sweet spot and should touch it.
the two green circles fit. yellow one kinda fits. red one doesnt fit at all. cut the nubs off of the yellow and red ones and the up direction wont respond.
