How are you guys approaching the poison matchup? I feel she has all the tools to zone rolento out and she has a strong a strong pressure game once shes in.
So I thought it was going to be a paragraph but guess not … haha … enjoy
Well first of all you need to use U2. If you can scare Poison in any way to slow/stop her fireballing game plan then your odds increase.
Poison’s goal : Keep fireballing and annoy you to jump in and kill yourself
Your goal: Avoid / absorb her fireballs whilst building meter for U2 and make her come to you.
For many players this is a test of mental strength of who is willing to force the other player to advance on them.
Poison players will be used to having the other player be the aggressor.
At the start of the round what most likely will happen is Poison will move back to 3/4 screen. Wait for a split second to see if she (extremely rare if its a good Poison) jumps or jaguar kicks.
As soon as you see her move back then build meter with instant knives as fast as you can. Slowly put yourself to fullscreen distance so that only her light fireball can touch you.
The way to get on a Poison player’s nerves is to build meter whilst not being phased by her fireballs.
Note: Whenever I have no meter and I want to do instant knives, I do (and im sure many of you do): uppercut motion -> piano roll HK to LK x2 … pretty much like plinking with 3 buttons real quick twice.
You may notice that Nemo sometimes throws out instant knives from full screen that whiff completely … thats the downside of rolling it too fast when you have meter.
Once you have meter than just press a kick and double tap twice or find an execution style & rhythm that suits you that won’t make ex knives come out.
Learn to visually identify her fireballs (especially condition yourself to seeing her windup animation when she fireballs).
At fullscreen range you should only be watching out for light fireball.
Light fireballs: Smallest size, Fullscreen distance, quick startup
Medium fireball: Med size, 45% screen distance, med startup
Heavy fireball: Big size, 30% screen distance, slow startup
EX Fireball : big size, 75% screen distance, very fast startup
So keep instant knifing and absorbing her light fireballs. Remember that your stinger jump is projectile invincible for 29f so you can make the light ones go through you.
At this point you’ll have at least one bar and U2. Now advance to half screen (just out of her jaguar kick range and in a range that if she jumps, you can s.hk AA her)
Now at this range Poison is going to be very hesitant to fireball (bob up and down now and then to make it look like you’re buffering to scare her even more)
This is where if you’re on point, you can really mindfuck her. Wait for her to fireball or jump and punish her accordingly.
How well you AA her will determine what options you’ve completely removed from her. If she can’t fireball or jump, she only has become very limited.
She can either do nothing, try footsie you, random focus attacks or random jaguar kicks.
Whilst you’re in a safe range (still being able to hit your U2), you can also keep building meter with instant knives so you force her even more to try fireball or advance on you.
If you hit her with U2 then good work, I don’t recommend going for the post U2 dash forward j.hp setup as you may corner yourself.
If you have her in the corner then keep her there! Do not get cornered by her by all means!.
OK so once you’ve hit U2 … rinse and repeat (I know, its boring but she would apply the same tactic to you and not hesitate for a second)
You can also roll through her fireballs if you’re feeling gutsy but don’t get overzealous with it and also test if they know how to punish it
Couple notes about Poison:
S.hk -> c.mk whiffs, so do s.HP to rekkas
she can’t combo her overhead on you if she’s point blank or one normal pushback distance so keep an eye out when shes a little bit away from you.

AA U2 for mad salt.
OS with U2 also as she loves to backdash heaps.
Summary: Minimize her strengths, make her come to you, take away all her options with good AA & reaction U2 and build meter effectively.
Thanks for the tips Carnage. Just got back from playing a friend in endless who used poison. These tips helped a ton, I always defaulted for Ult 1, but using Ult 2 really changes the pace of the game. It took alittle getting use to for landing Ult 2 since her recovery of fireball seems fast. One thing I learned in this matchup is that during Round 1, its harder for poison to deal with mixups and shenanigans since she doesn’t have meter for ex dp, so don’t hesitate to rush in early. Also, I’ve been using nj.mp to punish her jaguar kick move when im spaced accordingly.
Litte trick vs. Juri
- > Despite there being better options for ending combos, I’m actually a big fan of mid-screen EX PC, c.lp resets. It gives you time to dash up and go for a throw/counter-hit mixup, or to cancel into stinger or Air raid.
- > Against Juri, EX PC, c.lp xx instant HP Air Raid is actually quite a powerful reset. It breaks armor (and therefore, her counters), you can OS Ultra or Sweep to beat backdashes, and if the Juri uses EX PW as a Reversal, Rolento floats harmlessly over her head, and you can punish hard from the other site. Juri is pretty much forced to block this reset if you execute properly.
- > I strongly recommend U2 for this match-up against strong Juri players as Rolento will otherwise have a lot of trouble dealing with fireball zoning patterns from mid-range.
In the beginning of a match poison can use her heavy fireball immediately so she can start approaching you instead of zoning. She won’t be using light fireball (She shouldn’t be using it at all in this match.) pretty much at all in this match because its frankly too dangerous to do but heavy and mid will annoy you.
If you are crouching poison can combo point blank from an overhead. She’ll never do an overhead point blank if you’re standing because that’s very punishable on block.
I’m new to Street Fighter in general. I can do pretty decent against guys who respect me and i respect them… but how the hell do i deal with people mashing?
I go to tournaments for Soul Calibur 5 and i can deal with stupid people online easily. I play a ranged character and i just whiff punish them but obviously the game is different. I tried taking my spacing tools from Rolento and just out space them but either i’m doing it wrong or i’m not doing the right thing. So can anyone tell me how to deal with dumb in this game?

Mekong delta always get punished by sweep
After knd , rolento always got catch up everytime i want to escape with mekong delta, ex mekong delta attack, backdash either by her string, f.mk, or option select (neck breaker)
I got problem also with her jump in, especially when she paused a bit throw kunai made my anti air miss
Air to air no reliable also
