Top 5 seems like a stretch, but I think the buffs did wonders for him. Nemo is just godlike and could make any character seem top 5. Having a legit anti air means playing lame / zoning is much, much easier, especially when building meter with instant stingers.
EX PC > cl HP has worked on everyone I’ve tried it on so far and can be canceled into meaty stinger, or if you want to catch them sleeping you can do back roll overhead. Couple these changes with roll being able to FADC into huge damage on hit and you get a dangerous character who still has some rough matches.

How and why is Rolento considered low tier? I mean this guy is ridiculous in the proper hands. I’ve been watching some Nemo lately and just damn…
I’m not a huge Streetfighter player so I don’t know the properties and kinks that make a character a certain tier placement. And if you’d like to explain that’s always welcome. I like these forums and the people and info on it.

He’s much better now than he use to be. The most recent buffs in December (improved st. mp for anti air, ex roll down to -5, strike invincible back roll) shored up his weaknesses that made him low tier. Before the buffs he had absolutely no wakeup and no anti air while also not having a dominant footsie button. He had a lot of matches that were extremely difficult which made him low tier.
Rolento since the buffs is mid tier possibly even high mid. Nemo himself is just ridiculous at whomever he plays. A player can make a bad character look amazing. Rolento the character still has issues versus Zangief + Dive kick characters, but he’s now a very solid character (Thanks Capcom)
Giving Rolento iframes on an overhead that combos for 300-500 damage and is basically safe against characters without a good reversal is beyond insane.
Oh, and it crosses up too. Hitbox for that seems better.
Its a slow move, if you get hit by it then you deserve it. The only time you will get hit by it is if you do a very laggy normal next to Rolento.
Its also only strike invincible so you can throw it on wakeup and the -5 makes it punishable by the whole cast.
Also on wakeup Rolento can’t cancel it instantly point blank as the overhead has a set jump arc so he ends up jumping over you.
-5 is very hard to punish for a lot of characters. Especially since the hit stun is brief, and it’s range dependent. I’ve had even shotos miss their punishment with srk. Iframes on that move is way too good against those without a quick reversal, I find.
Why has he switched Gen matchup from advantageous to even post patch? Gen only got cr mp and super buff (and change to mantis U2).
maybe the Gen players he plays have adjusted to the match up now Rolento has been around long enough? I think that would be more likely than any specific change.
I wish I could be good with this character, I like him a lot and I thought he would fit my style as a Dictator main but I struggle less with characters like Yang and Hugo. Rolento will always be fun for me but no where near competitive
Soldiers, in conjunction with our Mekong Delta Tactical Handbook, I’ve put together two collaborations. I’ve edited these to what I feel is the best of my ability and is amateur at best. They do not have all of Rolento’s current tech but they do have quite a bit. Anyone have any general execution tips for performing instant stingers? I had thought the “correct” way to to just plink after the DP input but maybe It’s just my crappy execution that’s I need to get past
Best way to do instant stingers is to negative edge them. It’s by far the most consistent way to get them to come out in the fastest way, at least for me and I know that a bunch of others agree. However, EX Stinger can’t be negative edged so keep that in mind.
I do share the pain of wanting stingers and getting a random sweep online though. Just keep at it
Anyone consistently hitting the ex stinger into (non-ex) air raid? Mind explaining the execution process?
This seems pretty vital to 1bar BNB, I can only get ex air raid to connect, I can’t seem to figure out how to get the regular air raid to come out any faster to combo
I am officially convinced that Dudley and Rolento are the greatest characters on the roster for me… but man… whenever I choose Rolento the biggest smile just comes on my face because lose or win I’m gonna have a fun game. God I love that fucker.
I just wanted to know if he has any oki after his sweep slide? Any pogo mixups?
The only one I know is the OH crossup mixup are there any more that can avoid reversals and are ambigious?
He’s definitely a blast to play that’s for sure.
Also, I too am one of the many players who can’t do “the nemo” or EX stinger into air raid, but with the EX patriot circle buff, it’s better to do that for the juggle and 2 meters (plus U1 if you can) but not being able to do that extra damage in some situations is a crutch I’m going to have to live with I think
