It was a good time. Might want to look into a new venue for future tournaments since The End lacks space and proper ventilation. Even with the relatively small showing it felt crowded.

Yeah was fun. It was good to play some other people in kof. Sucks that other place just seem to schedule tournaments without looking to see if someone else is doing one of the same day in the same state.

Good games to the new people I got to play in KOF, learned a bit from Justin. Hes a really good KOF player and would love to get some more casuals in with him. Thanks to all the guys that showed up for the tournament!

Every time I see a SFxT combo video, I die a little inside.

As much as I like the idea of the store getting some more credit for being a decent venue for this kind of stuff, I agree with you for the most part. Where else could we have it though? Perhaps coordination with the UVA guys could lead to a better spot? Also The End has those convenient set ups, perhaps they could still be in the mix to help out on that front, and then the venue fee could be split between running further tournaments and getting the store to help out a little more?

They don’t help at all. I am going to be setting up a big tournament in the Cville Area outside of The End… I have talked to the owner of the Biltmore, Atlas, and boylan heights but I am thinking the Holiday inn out near 250 only about $250 for the day… should be an easy go… I will keep yall posted but I’m sure it’ll be good.

I also agree that switching to a new location for tournaments would be a good move. The guys at the end say they want to do tournaments and such but they don’t ever do anything with them or advertise them their selves but they are more than willing to take the venue fee of course. Should only be $5 anyway. I think getting the set-ups together would be the hardest part of a new locale.

I personally owe 3 360’s and I can buy copies I think we could get stuff together if we all pooled our shit

I have 2 monitors (One has HDMI/VGA and the other only has VGA/No Sound, but I own an adapter). Also you can always go the route of asking for set-ups and waiving the venue fee for those that bring necessary set-ups. Obviously if we rent out a hotel, we need to guarantee ourselves that we make our money back. Honestly, making a surplus for future tournaments would be nice, but that’s hopeful. Also coordinating with Richmond would be smart to ensure a better turnout.

The harrisonburg Fighting Game Club would be more than happy to help a lending hand to the organization of said event. We have pro graphics, pro streaming, pro video, pro printing at the service of the FGC in our area :).

Hey guys here is the event link to our tournament in two weeks! http://forums.shoryuken.com/t/apr-7-2012-uva-gamers-cavalier-classic-charlottesville-va/144528

We have a really big space and would love to make this a success. There is no venue fee due to some University regulations that I did not want to mess with this time around. Please add some suggestions if you have any!

No KOF 13!??! :<

We can definitely run KOF as well!

I dont think I’ll be able to make tho :frowning:

Damn you Manny, I’ve been looking at KoF stuff all weekend. But I don’t have the game yet… I blame you entirely.

I wouldn’t be surprised if too few enter to make a tournament, especially with the $10 entry. My impression from my last visit is that UMvC is the only game with decent popularity. That was before SFxT and KoFXIII were out, but we had a pretty small turnout for KOF even with Blacksburg present. I’d only be interested in entering KoF and SF4, but I’ll play casuals in any game.

Thats awesome. Get the game @ http://www.amazon.com/The-King-Fighters-XIII-Xbox-360/dp/B0054IN5RI its only $40 bucks with free shipping too. Then get mad hype for the best fighting game out right now.

I did some Daimon and King Trials. Daimon’s combos are pretty difficult due to the nature of the inputs. They’re really short, but they often require you to put in a qcb+f from either a crouching position or in the hitstun of a light. Is there a shortcut for that input to make it more reliable? Also his neo max is weird since you can only use it by max cancelling a super. King is fun, but her style is kinda weird.

Yeah I’m not sure, I like Daimon, but gettin in with him is tough and then if you do your hit-comfirms better be on point or else you’re going to miss a lot of opportunities for damage.

I wish. I still mess Shen’s up sometimes, usually when trying to run in with it. and using it to combo from light attacks takes 100% of my focus so I don’t go for it in matches.
