Basically rocket league version of this
All those times where I gave into temptation and went for the 3/4ths map flying shot out of my goal post and end up barely whiffing… then opposing team scores right after.
Had maybe my most satisfying game last night:
Solo queue Ranked 2v2: My teammate and I go down 1-2 and I say something like, “Ah shit my bad, dude” after I did something shitty. Then I hear, “Shut up you suck, phaggot”.
Ohhhkay…
We end up giving up another 2 goals to make the score 1-4… all the while this [presumably] 12-yr old fuckhead and his equally childish teammate are lambasting me with homophobic slurs and telling us to “ready up”
We end up doing on a tear and beating them 7-4. After I knocked in goal 6 I asked, “What happened to your kiddie shit talk now?”
They then keep saying, “Sweaty nerd!” over the mic. Which is, at least, semi-accurate so I let that slide.
Beating those 2 shits made me really happy hahaha.
I think 2s may be my favorite mode at this point. I like having to only trust 1 other person to win their matchup (better than 2 people in 3v3) and have back up when I inevitably fuck up (compared to none in 1v1). Plus you can still work some decent passing into doubles.
I prefer 3v3 since its the ranked standard. I dont trust any teammates so i sit in goal and talk shit. Prolly making a lot of enemies but idc

I don’t mind talking to people, really. I rarely talk, mostly just use quick chat .
Quick chat and usb keyboard for the trash talk. I hate mics not scared to talk on them just need to listen so kids dont hurt thmselves

FUCK I want to headbutt my buddy. I love my friends, they’re the greatest friends, but they’re fucking casual gamers at the worst.
My buddy enjoys Rocket League, but he just is awful. He plays everything like he’s playing alone. I literally vocally tell him I am going for the ball, and I know for a fact I have a the chance, and if he looks at my split screen he would see too, but the asshole fucking smashes into me like i’m some fucking AI piece of filthy trash. He refuses to learn anything beyond absolute 2 year old baby basics in any game (he cant play SF cuz all he wants to do is mash buttons, and cant throw fireballs or do charge moves because reasons). Took me like 10 games to finally make him fucking learn he could double jump, or flip, for effect. He won’t drive on walls, he treats them like actual fucking walls that you would crash into. He won’t fly. He just boosts everywhere, and never refills, just constantly trying to boost with 0% boost, and ignores my protests of “GO FUCKING REFILL YOUR BOOST AND STOP BOOSTING INTO THE BALL FROM THEIR END TO SEND IT ALL THE WAY BACK TO OUR FUCKING NET YOU FUCKTARD BOOST IS NOT A GAS PEDAL IN THIS GAME”
the irony is he drives and i dont, in real life.
edit: when you’re defending, whats the best way to get maximum height, if you’re stationary? Like, how do you guard the top corners of the net, if you’re not moving, and in front of the net? Double jump don’t get enough height.

I’m pretty drunk. Just scored 4 goals in a game for MVP. I think I found my system.
I kinda wish Boost in the air worked a little different. Run out of Boost too quickly, I’d love to fly a bit more.

I still use plenty boost but mostly when I know i’ll build it back immediately. What bothers me with semi-pros levels of experience is that occasionally they’re boosting all over the place… AND COMPLETELY JUST MISSING ALL THE OPPORTUNITIES THEY COULD BE GETTING IT BACK.
Like watching a dude boost from one side of the map to the other and completely miss the 100% refill and goes straight to the ball to nudge it a inch.
Use all the boost you want but god damn make sure you refill it, if you look around and most of the nodes are taken or is about to be taken, you better fucking save that meter.
Also boost is like a survival tool for me at this level of play, if i’m low on boost then dudes will swat the ball out of the sky before it even gets anywhere NEAR the ground. Flying is practically essential now when you’re up against these Vets and Experts that’s been playing a long ass time.
Lastly it’s pretty important to deny meter gain as well, you see your opponent casually driving to the 100% node, you deny that shit if possible. They’ll either have to get by with whatever meter they have left or spend time building the meter back up.
