Alright, So, I thought I would post a thread for old Mega Man canon information. Feel free to add input, I would love to see a Mega Man Plot Guide. Here’s some old information from my friend Acrosurge:

*Mega Man/Rockman - The second humanoid robot created by genius Dr. Thomas Light, Rock was programmed with advanced AI, emulating a 10 year old boy. His strong sense of justice is his defining attribute.

After Dr. Light converted Rock’s body to a superrobot, he gained titanium armor, enormous strength, and the ability to charge and release plasma energy in either arm. He soon adopted the moniker “Mega Man” as a type of super hero name.

Being a robot, Mega Man possesses superior speed, reflexes, agility, and targeting ability. His strength allows him to brace and lift enormous weights, land unharmed from great heights, and knock over robots several stories tall with a single punch. He can instaneously transform either arm into his Mega Buster, which can charge blasts of energy capable of vaporizing several tanks in a single shot. On occasion, Mega Man has charged energy in both arms and subsequently released two charged blasts at once.

Mega Man’s special ability allows him to copy the abilities of his enemies. In addition, he can call on the power of Dr. Light’s other creations, such as Beat (a robotic bird) and Rush (a robot canine). Utilizing Rush, Mega Man can transform into his most powerful incarnation, Super Mega Man.*

Here’s some more info Forte (Bass in Us):

Dr. Wily constructed Bass/Forte after stumbling upon an energy source more powerful than any yet developed in the world (I don’t know the Japanese name for this type of energy, but Fortenium might be a logical assumption). Bass was constructed to be Wily’s most powerful robot, capable of copying abilities like Mega Man, but with even greater strength, faster speed, and more durability. Essentially, Bass was constructed to defeat Mega Man.

Though first part of a plot to win Mega Man’s trust and gain access to Dr. Light’s lab, Bass eventually turned on Rock and Light.

He’s highly skilled in combat and has a burning desire to prove himself as the strongest robot ever created. He despises Mega Man, for somehow, Rock is the only robot he simply cannot best, despite his superior capabilities. Proto Man has suggested this is because Bass fights for selfish reasons, as opposed to Rock, who fights for those he cares for and for Justice. In either case, despite Bass’s strength, he has not once defeated Mega Man.*

This ending from one of the only arcade Megamans; Megaman 2: The Power Fighters explains how Dr.Wily accidently discovered the “Bassnium”. The power source for Bass/Forte and the strongest energy in the world. Zero also makes a cameo, and Wily remarks on how Zero is his strongest Robot ever:

known in Japan as Rockman 2: The Power Fighters is an arcade video game, released in Japan in 1996. It is the direct sequel to Mega Man: The Power Battle released the previous year. Both games ran on Capcoms CPS-2.

Should this thread stick to info about the original Rockman series only? Or should it include things from X, .EXE, Zero, etc.?

Notes:
-Temple of the Moon anomaly detected by UN. Light and Wily did not uncover what is was 3 years before the events of SAR, when the UN noted it, Light and Wily worked together. Wether this is the MM2~3 gap or pre MM1 is unknown. Both are feasible due to the uncertain nature of the 1-2 and 2-3 gap, allowing for quite some range of freedom with timegaps up to SAR.
-DRN-000 (Dr. Right Number) up till DRN-008s are fully Right’s, however, in the american MM1 manual it is fabricated that Wily worked on them as assistant.
-DWN-000 (Dr. Wily Number) up till DWN-008 do not excist, DWN numbering follows up on DRN numbering.
-DWN-009 up till DWN-016 were made by Dr. Wily based upon the designs of DRN003 up till DRN008.
-DRN-017 up till DWN-024 were mostly made by Dr. Wily and Dr. Right together as partners.
-DWN-025 up till DWN-032 were made by Dr. Cossack, not Wily. Although, from DWN-028 and up, there are confirmed statements of Wily’s presence in upgrading robots and altering schematics during production.
-DWN-040 up till DWN-056 were made by various scientist around the world as result of the Robot Union. Not Wily.
-The first game’s events were by Rockman Rockman’s accord accompanied by 2 more Robot Masters OilMan and TimeMan, both Dr. Light Numbers, but their exact designation is unknown. Rockman Rockman does not seem to agree on which one is 9 and which is 10.
-Ratall was NWN-001 (N(eo?) Wily Number) despite being made by Ra Moon during the course of Super Adventure Rockman.
-Wily’s Final Creation is DWN-INFINITY. (ZERO)
-Light’s Final Creation has no known serial number.
-SRN-001 (Space Ruler Number) up till SRN009 are like SunStar, alien in origin. They were part of the Ancient Civilization.
-Bass is SWN-001 (Special Wily Number)
-The KGN (King G(?) Number) were all stolen by King upon raiding the museum.
-The MWN (Mega World Numbers) were made by Wily.
-AstroMan was in development over the course of Rockman7.
-All other robots are not numbered. Those that are, are most likely developed prior to their respective games unless otherwise stated.

Great thread and vasili10 is holding it down again! :clap: Copying and pasting an old yet great post by MMMAsterSTE on 2/2/06 about MM’s timeline and a lot of his speculations about what became of MM and so forth. I don’t really see him posting at SRK too much nowadays.

  • Light, feeling robots should make there own choices begins work on AI and X - Wily manipulates the evil energy and places it within Zero as a form of control, it later becomes the Maverick Virus, then the Sigma Virus, then the Zero Virus - Light completes X - First Zero is sent after the rebelious Bass and Treble, destroys them -Zero is released upon Light labs, and kills most of the back up robots(Roll, Rush, Eddie, etc…) -Mega Man fights Zero and loses, but is not killed, X fights and nearly destroys Zero -Zero returns to Wily to be fixed but X follows and as Zero is offline and being repaired, X kills Wily -Light shocked at this, fears X has been corrupted by the evil energy, runs a diagnostic for 30 uears -X is not awoken till he is discovered by Dr. Cain, 100 years later in 21XX, this is because Light dies of old age, and in that time Rock has unarmed himself since without Wily the world is at peace, BUT Wily from 32 years in the past captures him easily since he has no megabuster (and no ability to harm humans anyway) and turns him into Quint of MMII(Gameboy Game) where he is beaten by himself, essentially putting the original Megaman in a time loop in which he beats himself

Basically the “Maverick Wars” occur, which included X’s 1-8, CM and Extreme 1&2… Keiji Inafune originally wanted X6 to be the last, but Capcom said no, despite this, X7 and 8 are canon because they lead into the Zero series…the ending of X6 is now thought to be what happens after the entire series, so Zero’s ending in X6 takes place after X8 (or any future games they make)

The Elf Wars occur when Zero is inactive, X sacrifices his body to seal the dark elf, becomes one himself…etc

The “Neo Arcadian Wars” occurs, with X missing a copy X is made and Zero 1-4 occur

Zero 4 is thought to be Zero’s final death as the events in Zero 4 lead into Legends…Neo Arcadia becomes Elpisum…the world becomes flooded due to Weils Ragnarok and sets up the story for legends which is 3000 years later in which Reploids are “gods” of some sort and they use human dna to clone them and have them populate the earth, when the number of humans outweighs the limited resources of the planet the “reploids” or Elipisum “Cleanse the carbons” or kill all the humans, let the planet restore its resources, then repopulate the carbons in a cycle…this cycle is broken because of Mega Man Trigger and Legends 1 and 2 occur

Battle Network is a “What if” story if Light and Wily worked on the internet and not robotics, this is because in the real world in the 80’s, when MM was made, robots were thought to be the future, now the internet is the future, so that is its twist (Lans grandpa is basically the Dr. Light figure, but not the same character, Hikari is “Light” in Japanese)

All the Mega Man’s are completely different robots, Mega Man is more of a mytho’s in its own world, like comparible to an ancient legend or prophecy, “whenever the world is in trouble a boy clad in blue shooting fire from his hand will save the day” There is like a new hero every generation with similar qualities, but none of them are the same…"*

Weird, Zan’s accont of blues creation is dramatically more different than that one.
Also, it’s interesting that you mention sniper Joe being devolped for policing. According to Zan, Sniper Joe’s design is based on Blue’s. I’ve heard accounts of Blue’s being a police man.

Rock (Lab Assitant), Blues (Police Officer), Roll (Maid), Gutsman (Construction), Bombman (Demolitions), Cutsman (Land reclamation), Fireman (Waste disposal), Iceman (Arctic research), Elecman (Power plant worker), Oilman (Fuel management), Time Man (Time travel experimentation).

This information is very inaccurate.

Largely that last part is speculation on his part, he says so himself when he says “heres my take on it based on the evidence.” What became of Mega Man has never been stated officially.

Yeah, I have qualms about that part as well. Capcom’s CFC Fanbook vol.2 presents evidence that Blues was the joint effort of both doctors; one page goes as far as breaking down each of Blue’s five major components according to which doctor’s input. Also I disagree as to when Wily found him and turned him into Breakman, based on the official guidebooks for the Playstation’s Rockman Complete Works series. Rather than Blues being recovered before even Rockman 1 or Rockman Rockman, the books point to him being recovered and modified by Wily during Rockman 3.

The famous robot designer Dr. Right created X in the year 20XX as the first sentient machine (an android capable of thought, feeling, and the ability to make decisions). Unable to carry out X?s testing, Dr. Light sealed X within a capsule prior to his death. In 21XX, Dr. Cain discovered the remains of Light?s lab and brought X to Cain Labs in Able City.

X stands just over 6 feet tall in full armor. Dr. Light designed X to be able to live in any situation; to be able to choose any occupation. Along with this, X?s DNA contains the perfect design for unlimited power. X accesses this power every time he duplicates a power or ability, but this duplication represents only the merest fraction of X?s potential ability. In Mega Man Powered Up, if you play the game as Roll prior to her Wily fight she fights a copy of herself, much like Mega Man fights a copy of himself before facing Wily. Anyway, the other Roll teases the real Roll about a secret that she’s hiding from Mega Man, if she has ‘told him’ yet and the real Roll gets embarassed. It comes off as if Roll secretly has a crush on Mega Man.

I know that Roll of Mega Man Legends likes the Mega Man of that series but has there been any other evidence to support that the original Roll likes the original Mega Man in the main series?

I mean, um, it seems kind of wierd since they are raised like brother and sister but I guess they’re not really related… I dunno…

Just notice an easter egg of Gouki in Megaman: The Power Fighters.
