Scroll to the bottom of the main forums page, there’s something, a section, called Matchmaking.
It’s nice to see you guys are so interested in gaming, but do you really need a thread for this? How are you different from all the other newbies joining SRK and wanting to get good?
6 hour drive is insane, you’re either trolling or insane to drive so far for a small local tournament and SF4 is kind of dead in CTF and everyone’s too busy to run tournaments consistently.
Your best bet is using matchmaking to find others in your area that play the game. Once you get to a level where you can beat almost everyone in your area then you need to start thinking about where to travel to where you can obtain better competition. At this point, you can probably learn from the locals.
Maybe this would have been more appropriate had you just added it to the SFIV video thread. That way it’s less about attention.
The idea itself isn’t bad, I mean I figure it’s more for entertainment than trying to get good, like when they have those documentaries that follow a team through a season, but you have to get used to SRK being SRK. You shouldn’t have to tell us who you are, if you do, then we don’t care.
It’s harsh, it’s how it works here.
But I’ll check it out when I have some free time, though you probably should have waited to post until you had some videos of the actual vlog and not just a sneak peak.
I’m playing pad for now but i should have a stick within 3 weeks max.
I’ll add you guys on xboxlive and join you in your journey
Although I’ve had almost 3 years of SF experience I can’t say I have any competition in my area so >.>
btw I’m gonna bookmark your youtube page too.
See ya on live
I actually like this idea. And the videos so far weren’t bad either, I think active and proteq have potential to be entertaining in the videos, as well as being helpful to community and future players who want to take that step into realm of fighting game tournament play. Anyone knows right now that the SF4 boards are full of scrubs. Hell even proteq and active are scrubs right now, even they don’t deny that. But, they are taking the time to do research and to improve their game into being solid players, and are trying to show how the process works.
Everybody here at one time or another was a scrub. Everybody did wake up supers, everybody played their tight circle of friends using the same tactics to beat them while not knowing that they were completely unsafe. It takes time to play the game how it should be played if you are new too it, and I think one of the goals of the videos is to help people come to that realization faster. Active already mentioned he learned about kara throws from gootecks website. That kind of stuff is useful for people to hear about.
Everyone can just get off the “hahaz skubz eit sum dickz cuz u suckz bigh azz, u knot gud az meh” hate train on SRK. I think this is a positive step for 09 members here.
Whatever you guys are up to, good shit. It’s cool to see new players in fighting games of any kind, and if you’re in it to make that loot, then more power to you for that too. Keep us updated, and hopefully you guys do make it to the top and be the best you can be at the games.
btw this is SRK and of course people are going to be mad if it’s someone new posting stuff like this. Just continue striving for whatever it is you’re striving for, I guess money aside, and hopefully it’s for the good of more players and competition in fighting games and it all grows as a whole.
EDIT: basically I hope this is win/win for everyone, and isn’t destructive to the enjoyment of fighting games.
Thank you for understanding and for all your Support!
PS: I’m not in it for the money only, but if I can do something I love full time without having to worry about not being practiced enough for the next tournament, i’m going for it.
Also to the poster above proteq, Thank you as well for your support, I’m glad theres somewhat of an understanding and as I said in my previous post, I apologize to everyone if I came off as a dickhead, cause I’m really really not.
Welcome and good luck on your long road to success. Feel free to add me to your friends list and sorry for being rude earlier. Don’t mind the practice at all.
Keep doing yall thing man. If I had a 360, I would have sent you 2 an invite, but I’m on the PS3. But, I subscribed to ya youtube channel. So expect a lot of comments and support from me.

And yeah, gaming forums in general are known for their hostility to new members who put up posts that are considered “noob”, or whatever. Just let ya skiils speak for themselves.
