RIP, Marvel Vs. CAPCOM

Yeah, about that, the thread has been offtopic since page 2.
Do i need to quote every post for you?

Did i say otherwise?
Pro tip, before jumping to a discussion is wise to read at least some of it before making a fool of yourself.

How cute, also you defended d3v as well, lets think about that

I don’t know why you think all the top players hate the game. That’s just not true. I remember someone saying that jwong even said he likes marvel 3 more than sf4 because it’s not matchup fighter: the game. I mean, you get players like yipes talking about how the game sucks a lot, but then you also get him playing the game for like 6 hours straight. He sure as hell ain’t makin no money off the game because he don’t win shit. (I guess in a sense this doesn’t make him a top player though) Fchamp loves marvel 3. Chris g has expressed that he actually likes the game as well in multiple interviews, but I mean Chris g is weird and really emotional so he probably has a love/hate relationship with every game he plays actively. Apologyman likes weeb/anime games, so I’m pretty sure he likes this one as well +he loves superskrull to death. There are a lot of other good players who like the game. PR rog doesn’t like it supposedly, but this idea that everyone is purely playing it for the money is just not true. Sure its higher presence is a reason they stick with it, but people actually like the game. I know this is a difficult concept for a forum that hates marvel 3 and everything it stands for, but 99.9% of marvel 3 players ain’t making jack shit $$$ from this game, and 90% of that 99.9% know that they most likely never will. They play it because they like it. You’re also acting like wanting money and enjoying something are mutually exclusive. I’ll let you ponder that. Sure, the money could be the icing on the top that serves as the determinant, but to act like there is an absence of liking the game is wrong. Money is more a powerful incentive than in the marvel 2 era, sure, but I think you are exaggerating its effects.

There is a lot wrong with the game, and I agree with you that a lot of good and perhaps more skillful games get shafted for various reasons, but I don’t think even you believe your comment about players not enjoying the game. As cool of a concept it would be to have the most skillful of the skillful fighting games be the most popular games, it just doesn’t work that way, and you can’t force it to be that way either, so arguing which games deserve to be popular is kind of pointless. Also, what determines if a game should be a popular tournament game? Mvc3, despite all its problems, has shown that it can be a reasonable competitive game+great spectator game, and it has defeated the “random” stigma. The same pool of players almost always end up at the top of every tournament. They end up there because while the game can be a piece of shit, it’s still a “legitimate” fighting game and rewards skill a fair amount of the time, otherwise jwong wouldn’t be able to keep winning or getting top 4 with his b tier team.

A wise man once said,

Real talk, tho. Trolling aside. UMvC3 won’t outlive its ancestor due to the hype not being on par with the quality of the gameplay and its longevity value. (This is true, and you UMvC3 fans know this…) Capcom just doing questionable decisions after another, business wise. And Disney does not care about some niche genre like this. They are very protective of their property (that includes acquired assets) and how it is used and monetized. And add on top of it, the fact that Capcom as a company is on credibility probation by the industry. It won’t be for a good while for when we get the sequel if anything…

Here’s to 10+ more years of soul fist, soul fist, soul fist, hidden missiles, soul fist, soul fist, hidden missiles…

Oh no, we won’t get 10+ years, how terrible, such a tragedy, this tears at my heart, etc.

Anyone who ever yelled “10 more years!” was either being naive or sarcastic.

Sure morrigan will most likely be top tier for the rest of the game’s life, but ain’t never going to be purely 10+ years of just soul fistin when all it takes is a sloppy teleport assist mixup and whore is dead

If you actually think that, you don’t know the game very well

Stereotypes are funny. I hear far worse things about the games that I like and I just shrug them off.

The MvC series are definitely losing relevance. They have to artificially create and inflate hype with money matches, pot splitting and prepubecent sense of humor.

Which makes me wonder, someone said nobody plays MvC for the $$$. Yet, the whole focus on hyping up big money matches and pot splitting have been issues brought to the public eye by the MvC community. Isn’t that interesting?

^-- That’s because they play it for the adrenalin.

Pot splitting has been going on forever. Bringing it up is pretty random. It should NOT get in the way of competition. You’re conflating big money matches (MvC2 & adrenalin) with people not wanting to play it out (MvC3 & it’s fun but we’re also sick of it at the same time).

@Rokmode - you can still enjoy a terrible game. That’s where most everybody I talked to this weekend was at with it.

I think the “pulled from XBLA/PSN” for MvC2 probably just cut off the oxygen to the mvc2 scene and it’ll now die a slow fun death. Fucking amazing game, but you can literally not buy it anymore for mostly-current systems. And a sad farewell to Shuma and Jill. @sh0ultz‌ was right, DLC characters are the fucking stupid antichrist devil and should never be allowed again. Experiment epically failed.

Fuck you, Marvel. I may go to every single movie you put out, but I am going to be going angry.

I luv umvc3. I get why people talk down on it though. As much fun as it is to do sweet combos and find nice tech, a person can be totally shut out or get XF3’d on. But they also forget the games where they do that to someone else. Basically, only the salt remains.

I suppose that I am at peace with how the game is. Would I like changes? Yeah-but I’m also willing to work with the tools that I have.

This. I don’t get what all the hate is for. It’s so fun to watch and I love how creative people can be with their combos. Yes it does get boring real fast when all you see are Doom and Vergil on almost every team, but there are many still who don’t use them and find good ways to counter the top tier. It’s just so enjoyable to overcome these obstacles that everyone deems impossible with fighters that you wouldn’t expect. There’s so many unique combinations you can make and new stuff still to be discovered.

I mean even after two years of playing it i’ve found new stuff to put into my gameplan and extension to combos. And plus the characters are fun to play and all.

“RIP Marvel vs Capcom” Exactly my thoughts first time i played mvc3

MvC4 confirmed for E3

I don’t get it, is this supposed to make the fact you tried shitting in the game despite not knowing anything OK? Hate on it all you want, but don’t embarrass yourself by pretending you know enough to talk about it like that.

So? That eventually happens to any game.

MvC2 lost relevance, I guess that means most people didn’t truly like that game and were only in it for the money.

Lol another example of “I don’t follow the game, but let me pretend I do so I can say wrong stuff and look dumb!”

Lol. Preppy pretty much said everything I wanted to say here, I just wanted to laugh at this. Congrats, your arguments managed to be worse than Hecatom’s.

The marvel community is pretty quick to ridicule other games and scenes with no problem. They can’t handle when a little fun is poked at them.

Maybe this whole Disney thing its Karma coming back to bite you in the ass. Who knows? I dont care.

UMvC3 is not loved by some of their active players.
’‘I play Mahvel because you know everyone does it.’'When you get that type of collective conformism out of people that’s just typical modern FGC brainwashing doing its thing. To each its own I guess. Enjoy ‘‘dat hype’’ son.

Lol what? Since when was shitting on other games exclusive to the Marvel scene? And since when was it a problem to get defensive when a person shits on a game someone likes?

Same goes for many games. The majority still play because they like it.

Oh great, the “most of the FGC is sheep” argument. Yeah, you have a point, that goes for most Capcom games. But playing the popular game and enjoying the popular game enough to continue playing it are not mutually exclusive.

Thanks, and fuck you, too, I guess?

With how hype mahvel is these days I was really looking forward to MvC4

If y’all niggas took as much time to support the games y’all like rather than talking about how current games are so shit then maybe your games would be played instead

While I don’t necessarily think that this is the case with anybody here or that anybody in this thread has done it, I do agree that there have at least been points in time where groups in the marvel community have shit on games for being different and attacked them like they’re Killer Instinct 2013.

Granted, I’m sure that sort of thing isn’t uncommon and that every kind of scene probably as people who are like that.

I’m pretty sure it was sarcastic and people were well aware of the ironic humor there.

I loathe the floaty physics of MvC3, but at least thought it was a great step forward to the next version / MvC4.

I for one didn’t notice anybody getting their panties up in a bunch. You just said stuff that didn’t make any sense. What you said was so thick-headed that I don’t think anybody could have taken it for a jab.

That’s a stupid comment. They play the game because it’s fun. It’s bad, but it’s still fun. MvC2 at many levels is a terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible game… but it’s also the most fantastic and fun game I’ve ever played.

Quit being a tool.

Some hardcore stupidity floating around in this thread. Let me drop some knowledge.

A lot of people think Marvel is fun. Whether Marvel is “a good game” based on whatever bullshit criteria (opinions) you may have is completely irrelevant, some people think Marvel is fun.

Some of the people that think Marvel is fun (let’s call them “fans”) are sad/pissed/upset/raging/etc. about Disney because the chances of an MVC4 happening have gone down. This makes perfect sense, as a fan of something, it is quite normal to want the object of your fandom to continue.

Fans of everything take the piss out of stuff they are not fans of, this happens. Not everyone does it, don’t judge an entire group based on a subset of said groups behaviour.

Money has nothing to do with people playing Marvel. Maybe a few (literally, countable on your very own fingers) people play exclusively for the money, but that is such a small minority. The average Marvel fan is going to spend more money on the game itself than they will ever win, not even factoring in travel costs to events.

People are sheep, this is true, but you can’t solo a fighting game and enjoy it to its fullest. Maybe some people play Marvel JUST “because other people play it” but I would venture that those people are still enjoying it as we have enough current fighting games to choose from that you can find competition elsewhere if you DON’T like Marvel (SF, KOF, BB, GG, SFxT, Tekken, SC5, Smash, Skullgirls, P4A).

The only real issues are MVC2 being unbuyable now and the same happening with Shuma and Jill. It is now a great deal harder to get people into MVC2 and if some glorious new “tech” is discovered for Shuma and/or Jill and they become “the best in the game” then we may have serious issues about whether they are allowed or not when no one can even buy them any more.

Now please, anyone that disagrees with anything I have said, stop being an idiot.

I find it a waste of time to keep playing a game that its own followers openly admit its a terrible game. That’s a level of masochism I’ll never understand. Thats why I quit SF4 and never touched MvC3 after Vanilla. Stay away from headaches…

Suddenly, the hyper competitive testerone driven Mahvel community is ‘‘just playing for fun, guys.’’ “We know the game is ass, no seriousness in here”. Well, It could have fooled me with all the dedication I see being put into an “ass game”.

Whatever, I ain’t even mad. I can sit back and enjoy watching the bullet hell from the comfort of my nice sofa with some popcorn in my hands.
