I’m with you on that one. We gotta introduce some new topics to this thread. So…
Anybody wanna check out my new stick art I had done for me? Go to previous to see how it looks on a TE.
A talented stick artist by the name of purpl3grimac3 hooked me up. He really doesn’t get enough exposure for how good he is. If any of y’all are interested in getting one, just hit him up
at Purpl3Grimac3designs@hotmail.com. Give him an idea of what you want and he’ll go to work. The first change is free. The final product is only $10.
Now all I need to do is replace my SE with a TE and I’ll be reppin Mega Man everywhere I go. =)
The art looks pretty good. Are you going to get an actual custom plexi as well or are you just sticking to the artwork. Also, which buttons are you putting in for it? I want to get a new stick but I’m going to wait until the SF X Tekken sticks come out.
Custom plexi, huh? That’s a good question. For the stick, I was going to go with the SSFIV TE S since I was told that it was one of the best TEs on the market but the only thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t have a plexi on it. I heard it was necessary to add plexi because if I replace the art already on there with mine, it will look unprotected and bad looking. In that case, I might just go with a Round 1 TE since a plexi is already on it and just replace the art on that. Not really sure yet. Any suggestions?
As for the buttons, I was going to go with the clear blue Sanwa pushbuttons for the first 6, and then either white or solid blue Sanwa buttons for the last 2. The new clear buttons are freaking expensive though at almost $5 a pop! I might just go with the solid blue for the first 6, and then the clear ones for the last 2. Still deciding.
If I can get this stick the way I want it to be, then I don’t really have to worry about buying another one anytime soon unless Madcatz chooses to add some new useful innovative part to their sticks. Just got to replace my buttons when they eventually go bad.
I think its worth getting a Custom Plexi because you only need to buy it once and you can change up your artwork in the future if you choose. I have a TE-S which I put some custom artwork on and went ahead and got a plexi for it because the plexi that comes on the TE-S is kinda faux-plexi and the artwork is glued on and your looking at alot of time and effort and adhesive remover to change the artwork on a plexi that kinda sucks. Your other option is a Lami-label which Otaku kid might be a good person to ask on how much trouble that is to apply.
I got my plexi and artwork printed with perfect button cuts from Art’s Hobbies for $40 after shipping.
So theres a couple things upcoming that I’d like some input on.
1)pre register for RCR. Seriously. I can’t put up a “Who’s going” list for hype until some people pre reg.
SOVO fair friday at 3pm-6pm. Strange Matter Meet & Greet Casuals at 6pm. Come help us bring in fresh recruits!
Speaking of, I made about 7 different styles of fliers. Pepper them around the city to your hearts content.
I’d like one or two people to step up and officially be in charge of Strange Matter tuesdays. someone who’ll be there every week, bring a setup or two, and hype it up for people to come out. Hell, even run a ranbat or two. I can’t do everything and between the big tourneys and school, this is something I’m fine with letting go. I’ll still make it out more often than not, but I think someone can step up here. Basically, think of what danny does at Cary St, but on a smaller scale.
5)Post up links in sigs and what not for the next tournament. Preferable link to the RVAtournaments.com website.
Yea, I actually etched my name on my plexi.
Also, I show up every other week for SM so I’ll help or do ranbats when I do show up and bring a box. It’ll be up to somebody else to cover the week I don’t show up for. I think one of the people who still go to VCU or live in the city would be better for this. (Life after graduating and moving out of the city suxs.)
College life was the best… but I cant realistically ever go back. You should go back and get a masters in underwater marble stacking to keep the lifestyle alive.
Thanks for the link. I’m definitely looking into the Custom Plexi with my artwork. Have you tried putting a bezel on your TE-S? I’m curious because it doesn’t look like it has space to fit but I’d like to give it a try. I think a blue bezel would compliment the art and buttons very well. If you don’t mind, pm me your number just in case I have any more questions. I’m still a stick noob lol. By the way, I’ll be at SM tomorrow.
Oh god Matt, once I read your sig I rushed to youtube and searched for some 3SOE remixed music and I swear I wanted my ears to bleed! I was just like, how the hell did they butcher such a beautiful soundtrack with this trash. I honestly can’t say that there’s a remixed track that I actually like. Jazzy NYC being the biggest disappointment. That stuff sounded like it came straight from a Genesis game. Good thing I can choose the original tracks. /end rant
I decided to go to ECPI. Tell me about all the fun and crazy times you had, Adam xD
I think it should be a rule for tourney, no remixes. Q’s, Alex/Ken’s, and Makoto’s were the worst of the remixes and Ken’s a popular char. Even though I found Elena’s old theme annoying as hell, I miss the entire old soundtrack after listening to that.
Also, I’ll be at SM when I get off work. Who else is gonna be there?
In celebration of Third Strike OE I thought I would post a link to an awesome strategy guide I found to help out those who want to get good at the game.
I’ll be there at SM after I get off work Friday around 6:30-7.
How’s everyone liking 3SOE? First day the online was hella clunky to the point where it was unplayable, but now it seems to be A-OK. Thank Christ because I was seriously doubting what makes GGPO such a big deal. Got a lot of lagless matches in with Danny P then several near lagless matches with Robin’s favorite person, Spectre General. I’m learning Yun. I’m not good with him, and yes, he’s god tier but he’s execution heavy and I really want to up my execution for this game. I’m working my way up to Genei-Jin nastiness, but for now I’m trying to practice with SA2 (st. lp, st. lk, st. mp xx l.srk xx sa2 is neat… can’t quite get it consistently though. Did I do those notations right??) Anyway, still rockin’ Remy. Learned some cool tricks in tutorial mode.
