PS3 will be in the booth with 3SO + others.
I’ll be at SM tomorrow when I get off work. I don’t think I’ll be able to bring a setup though.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it tomorrow. I get off work at 9 and I’ll be on the other side of town.
I will be at sm after I get off
if you guys got a ssf4 ae set up i need to practice sakura, they killed off yang =(
You really didn’t think we had much lag Colin? My internet is so bad, that game is basically unplayable online. I’m glad you picked up Yun though, I remembered you said you mained Remy, I was surprised to see a decent Yun, but that’s a good thing cause people need to learn how to deal with him. Offline though, if I blocked your string, I’d get a chance to red parry the dp+p move, with gen ei jin, you can link without doing it. Work on his 3rd trial. I would suggest maybe just moving over to Gen Ei Jin now, that way you get used to it, and you also get to see what people do when you activate, not everyone will just block it. And the thing I hate the most is when people do Gen Ei Jin and then immediately do his command grab, nobody expects that, most people just crouch block and try to react, kinda like they do with Aegis.
Those nerfs against Yang are absolutely ridiculous. It baffles me how he gets it worse than Yun when he wasn’t close to being as good as his bro. It’s like you got to gamble every time you pick your main in SF4 because you’ll never know who will get demolished next because of cry babies. I’m losing my drive to play this game. Can’t wait for UMVC3 and SFXT.
I didn’t think the lag was that bad really, compared to some matches I’ve played where it’s been like a fucking slideshow, man. So bad. But our matches were playable for sure. Anyway, since that night, my Yun has improved. I learned the wonders of negative edging into Genei-JIn for a much, much smoother transition into it. As far as comboing from Genei-Jin, I’m still in practice, but I’ve liked picking up Yun a lot. He’s such a blast to play, so the “broken tier” aspect of him is forgivable since he’s so damn slick and combo heavy. GGS though for real. We’ll game it up again soon enough.
Just a quick question from someone who just realized hey I’m at VCU a lot…OH WAIT THIS IS THE STRANGE MATTER EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT?! I just thought it was some random dive bar everytime I walked past it @.@. Anyways how’s the atmosphere there what games/days do you guys play…other random tidbits I’d need to know?
Haha, no Strange Matter is awesome and a huge part of our scene. The staff is so nice and they’re very, very accommodating and patient with us because every Tuesday starting at 6PM we have 2-3 set ups at the end of the bar with fighting games going on all night. We’ve had tournaments there before too. Tuesdays are half-off burgers and happy hour ends at 7, and the rest of the menu is very tasty too. Come out on Tuesdays for a mix of games and/or Thursdays for Tekken. Also on Thursdays, Cary St. Cafe has a big screen for games going on all night and that’s 21+.
I’m honestly speechless and don’t know where to start with this guy.
Great, great stuff. Thanks for posting this, dude.
BAITED! I saw the length of the article thinking that it could be good. Then I read it. The guy is a fucking idiot.
Also, more aftershocks this morning and another potential hurricane next week. Power of Gaia is bodying us right now.
Hey Guys! Games tonight @ The Cary Street Cafe!! Starts at 8. 21+
I’d be an idiot to say certain characters don’t dominate certain games overwhelmingly. But every now and then a low tier “bad” character comes out of nowhere to surprise everyone with an upset. I love those moments.
That guy is and idiot, and I main Sean, literally one of the worst characters in any fighting game ever. Tiers matter, sadly. That said, Chun-Li and Yun are some of my favorite matches, because I’ve done my homework and know the matches very well, something that most Chun/Yun players have never done vs. Sean.
For a lot of fighting games you can be told what to do, which characters beat other characters and why. In games like ST and 4, some tactics cleanly beat some characters, and you can just tell someone “do this” and that’s all they need to know. Now, 3rd Strike is one of the most horribly balanced fighters ever, but it’s impossible to simply tell someone how to win because of parrys. If the player who is at a disadvantage knows when/how to parry, he always has a chance and that is why 3rd Strike is a great game, but it’s nowhere near balanced.
I find it funny that that article states that Hugo is “US super bottom tier” In my opinion he is, but for some reason, current tier data (from 2007 eventhubs which has tons of terrible information about 3s) states that Hugo is B+ tier. I have no idea where this is coming from, HOWEVER, if the Hugo player can regularly and easily parry into 360s or even gigas, then Hugo is amazing, it’s just almost no one can regularly do that, hence why he’s a low tier.
This is one of the best websites for 3rd strike you will ever find, by the way.
That’s if enough ppl show up and are willing to play AE. It would be fun. Losers buys the winners burgers?
Dude if we can make it happen it’ll be hype! I dunno who else will show up, but i’m up for it!
I’m down for it. Really want to get in some practice before the tourney.
again, it depends who shows up. Btw did any of the new ppl come out again last tues? I wasn’t there because i wouldn’t mind teaching the newbies how to play ae.
