Retro Gaming Thread

Huh. Never knew they made an NES Splatterhouse.

japan only, just like sweat home, and devil man, those games were to much for american gamers back then

Never knew that either…surprised such a violent game would be on a NES.

Ehm, the Splatterhouse game on NES isn’t violent. If you bothered to look up some gameplay you’d see that. It’s a PARODY game like Konami’s Kid Dracula or Parodious series.

TIE Fighter. Still the definitive space combat kinda-sorta-sim to this day.

did anyone like ogre battle 64? I fucking hate that game so fucking much. The AI is fucking dumb as hell, I tell them to go somewhere and they just do what ever the fuck they want like keep walking into the son of a bitch boss, and killing them self. Ended up breaking one of my 64 controllers

Shameless plug: I’m doing an LP of DuckTales Remastered AND NES, where I play each version’s levels and talk about how they, and the games, compare. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoy2tCqTI_SrtpVQbLciCHRjlDF59quwE

It’s on topic, so no angry spam flags please. Or angry spam flag. Whatever floats your boat.

Well I wouldn’t even have thought of it without you saying anything, but consider my boat floated.

Fester’s Quest is ass. Even if you level up your gun to the max level it’s still hard to use in cramped areas and it’s just not fun to play at all not even in a so bad it’s good way.

Yeah man. I remember renting this game. Returned it 2 hours later cause it was that bad. They let me rent something else for free though. AVGN hit it on the mark.

Glad to see my thread is still going strong:)

That was one of the worst Christmas presents I ever got. Thanks anyway, aunt Jerry.

I’ve been playing a TON of Fire n’ Ice for the NES. While the puzzles aren’t always super memorable, they are still very clever and there were a lot of “The answer was right in front of me!” moments. I’m currently at world 5 and the game is definitely not fuckin’ around now.

I hated this game as a kid and I still hate it now

So we had a interesting discussion on game difficulty concerning the old era vs new era.

Since most of us grew up during the old era I gotta ask…how do you feel a out current gens difficulty vs retro game difficulty?

I am addicted to Xmen on genesis right now.

Been replaying Mega Man 2 on my 3DS everyday on the way to work.

20 minutes of childhood bliss before reality smacks you down again.

I been scooping up some SNES games on eBay since I bought one a few weeks back. I paid $40 for it, no discoloration and came with Top Gear, Tetris Attack, WWF Raw and Mario Paint all with their boxes and inserts. The boxes are pretty banged up, but I was more interested in having working cartridges.

I bought Star Fox and Killer Instinct for $16 after shipping and handling. Been trying to buy Super Mario Kart but someone always outbids me at the very last second. I can’t seem to get it at the price I want it

Some SNES hidden gems from some guy that has 650 in his collection.

I ran a search query, “psiv release date” and got December 17, 1993 for Phantasy Star IV. Damn Google striking a chord in my heart and apparently the new Playstation uses arabic numerals, not roman numerals.
