Retro Gaming Thread

Picked up a SNES game, made by Capcom, about Marvel’s Super Heroes: War of the Gems.

Quickly google searching, man hg101 had some bad, better off unknown, writers who don’t know how to play and didn’t have any experience in the game. Clearly the wrong guy for the job. Found a better one, also playing it much later than when it was released but who knew what they were doing or at least looked for other people’s strategies to find the move list. So videogame journalism from the scores given and reported to wikipedia shows again nobody is an expert gamer, even if they wrote for a magazine called just that.

Maybe they just got stupid lazy on the last page and that slipped thru.

$10 “It is half off today!” looks that way from ebay price check.
Nerdy guy manning his truck stop food court gift shop, he also talked about some old favorites like Megaman X! Yes, great game! He mentioned Power Rangers game and I said Ultraman but he didn’t know about robot L pose beams.

Yeah the bosses are just the most boss-looking sprite a 8-bit system could make lol. If you like Xexyz you should try Air Fortress for the NES if you can.

Other than Xexyz, I was playing the 3-in-1 SMB with Duck Hunt and World Class Track. I pulled out the running mat and I’m so much better at it than I was as a kid.

War of the Gems is basically a sequel to X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. It mimics the gameplay to a tee.

War of the Gems also maintains some features from the MSH fighting game in that equipping certain gems give some characters particular abilities.

I would say it was OK, although it did feel tired out.

Played gain ground again yesterday with th bros.

Based upon a stellar performance homo hank graduated to sexually ambiguous hank.

Knight with the orbs is now named Larry.

Larry is a negative name and is used to express failure.

Ex. Billy,( the north shooting low arm cannon bro) is highly capable of fucking shit up at a distance, but gets fucked up at close range.

A friend of mine got ganked by two knights, the terminology is

“He Larry’d when he shoulda Billy’d”

I love old games yo.

P.s. I did find out their names but I wasn’t feeling them other than obobo being named Asura and Gimli being Verbal lol.

Hot damn…techno before techno became a thing.

Bonanza Bros were on some MGS shit before MGS

The game came out in like '95, what are you talking about?

The real MGS series started on MSX noobs

^ that’s common knowledge among MGS fans… =P

@M.D.
What do you think of this Aladdin soundtrack? Imo it trumps the SNES’ version.

im just messing around. Giana sisters was a fun rip off of mario bros

cant wait to play the new one

That’s the joke!

Although it was rare in gaming at least.

Not as old but how do people feel about Syphon Filter? I feel like SF got overshadowed by MGS being so good, but 1 and 2 are really quality games. 3 was not so bad, but the 1/2 are must plays imo.

chillwave before chillwave became a thing

i dont count anything retro unless its from at least before PS1, n64, DC

Cool story bro.

Hmmm I always confused about the gameboy advance.

Is it as strong as the super nes or on par?

I really want to give Code Veronica a chance this weekend. Hope I can get saves to work on NullDC.

Yea the gameboy advanced can definitely equal SNES AFAIK, and probably exceeds it in some places.

I still like Advanced Wars and FF Tactics Advanced.

It’s by far the strangest of the “oldschool” Resident Evil games.

I noticed right off the bat that the knife was much stronger then it was in the older games.
