Resident Evil (Questions & Discussions) Thread

Well in any other RE, you would usually need to meet certain requirements or go to a certain room when you beat the game for new costumes.

Yeah, I suppose. RE4 didn’t require anything special, just beat the game for his RE2 outfit. But I remember having to go through the hassle of finding the closet key and then beat REMake to unlock Chris and Jill’s alt outfits.

I hope for the first option, but knowing Capcom you probably have to beat the game several times (or Mercenaries Mode) for extra costumes.

In 5, you beat it once, you unlock the 2nd set of costumes. To get the 3rd set, you have to get all the emblems.

I honestly can’t believe they wasted development time on a versus mode for this game.

(Yes, knocking before even playing it)

^ aim system is kinda shit and stopping n shooting doesnt work in versus mode.

also re5 music is nowhere near as awesome as re4.

Resident Evil 5 for $40 bucks

Wooooord

Not to slum up this RE5 talk, but here’s the Dark Side Chronicles trailer.

Game looks decent

anybody wanna play veteran mode later tonight or tomorrow night. I already beat normal mode and wanna try veteran. IM me. aim: snaaake718

I hope they fix the goddamn hit boxes in darkside chronicles. make it more like HOTD series and less like the original gun survivor(that game sucked ass…)

Quick question: Do you have to start a fresh file when you want to go to another difficulty? Or is it all one file and you can go back and forth between difficulties.

Fucking awesome. You just gave me a reason to not give Gamestop more of my money… and saved me $20.00. Thanks.

you can go back and forth between difficulties.

They compared it way too much with RE4 IMO, it could’ve been less harsh but they were right about the rehashes, but thats what RE is known for.

0:39 to 0:55 on Sessler’s Soapbox what costume is that?

How the hell do you put spoiler tags?

I think thats an Umbrella scientist outfit

No problem. We’re all brothers right(Some are more retarded than others, but still)?

As to the X-Play review

I think they were kind of right, about the re-hash as well.

Playing the demo the Sheva AI is pretty… dumb. It’s a tolerable dumb, but the AI isn’t anything to write home about.

The closed menu screen is subjective. I like that they opened it up, and made it real time, because it adds to the urgency of the game. For me, Resident Evil 4 had a lot of enemies, but there was no sense of

** “I NEED TO HURRY UP AND MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE, OR I’LL FUCKING BE KILLED!”**

Also disagree with them on assigning the melee actions to buttons. That would make thing’s all to easy. I also kind of taking a liking, to stunning an enemy and then running up to them and owning them.

The negative, as far as “Questionable use of stereotypes”. Is fucking retarded, so I’m not going to even touch that one.

Overall, seems like they were expecting drastic new thing’s, in an almost Metal Gear Solid 4 kind of manner. I myself just wanted little improvements from what 4 brought. It may or less feel like the same game, but I do think it’s made improvements, if minor.

Get fucking accustomed to the Resident Evil 4 style, before wanting entirely new and drastic overhauls to the system is probably the main point I’m trying to make. They want too much, too soon. The game should almost get to the point of

“Alright, I’m getting sick of this gameplay style, and this shitty, etc, etc, etc…”

Like it got with the oldschool Resident Evil games, before they overhauled the series. It makes you more appreciative IMO. Waiting may suck, but patience, it does pay off.

The real time item screen, was a pretty drastic decision IMO.

Pops back in to say . .TOLD YA!!

sticks out tongue

Anybody think there is a chance that Zombies and shit could come back?

Zombies as enemies would be easy as fuck, but for some reason, I’m just not intimidated at all by these intelligent enemies. Ganados and whatever the fuck the infected people in Resident Evil 5 are called, just don’t scare me. Conversely, it would be easy as fuck to just fuck Zombies up, with the new gameplay style you can just snipe zombies in the head all day.

What I’m prolly trying to say is that I do miss the environment from the older games. It was just a lot more creepier. The monsters were scarier as well, because it seemed like they were a lot less unpredictable.

Now all we get are the human like enemies, and enemies that were human, but mutated. There’s no weird shit, to make thing’s unpredictable. We got the Iron Maidens from RE4 darn near towards the very end, and Dogs. But Dogs suck.

El Gigante wasn’t intimidating, just huge(And kinda “Human-like to me”)

Saddler’s right hand was fucking awesome. The environment felt like Aliens or something.

Zombies worked so well in the old formula because just 1 could fuck your shit up if you weren’t careful. They were also pretty annoying in small corridors when you’re low on ammo and health.
I don’t see how they would be a threat in the new RE style. They were only effective in the days where every bullet mattered.

If RE5 was RE4 it would be hailed as one of the best games ever. It just came out at a wrong time. If it was released 2 or 3 years ago they wouldn’t be bashing it as hard.

But it don’t matter though Capcom is on their A-Game

Now its time for Square Enix to step up. If Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, FFXIII, or KH:358/2 Days is fucked it will be over.

Yeah that’s a bummer.

These new parasite enemies, just don’t scare me.

They need a newer, weirder parasite(I say this not having played Resident Evil 5).

I so agree with this statement.

Guanados are fun but not nearly as fun (or terrorfying) as zombies. The tension I’d get walking into a new stretch of the mansion/facility/etc was crazy sometimes! Like in REMake when you encounter the Hunters? I’d wai tto enter and see if there was any way I could bypass these guys.

Zombies need to come back.
