No l4d is cod with zombies… Outbreak was still RE style with a party, tasks that you needed to coordinate to get done. Give us a new outbreak.

Did you play that shitty ass zombie mode from Black Ops and mistake it for L4D? Those games are nothing alike.
did you **EVER **play any of the re outbreak games?
outbreak is nothing like L4D. outbreak had old school resident evil gameplay and not even FPS you fucking retard.
I played Outbreak and File#2. I hated them both. They rank among the worst RE games I played aside Gun Survivor and Gaiden. I felt L4D executed the concept of a co-op survival horror game better than those games did.
Seems like we’ll get a mix of everything in RE6. If anything it came off like a greatest hits of RE4 and RE5.
I really don’t understand the hate for the first Gun Survivor on PSOne, it’s a side game that was short, had an interesting story in the B-movie sense and didn’t really do anything bad other than unlimited pistol ammo all day every day.
I think everyone needs to take 10 to stop bitching about everything ever RE and pick up Revelations to remind themselves what a good RE title is like, or just play the old ones again, nothing wrong with them. Hell I just found all mine, going to run through them again soonish.
Outbreak suffered from bad loading times, stupid AI, and not so great online.
in comparison to the greats of RE, it’s not even close but that’s not saying it sucked.
It had DMC2 syndrome; it just didn’t meet up to or exceed previous RE standards while still adding new ideas to gameplay.
^ Outbreak would have been a lil better if we had actually chat to communicate with players, other than picking per-made quotes which bug the hell out of me!
I still say if Capcom just ported Outbreak 1&2 to XBLA/PSN it’d make all the difference with some voice support Just make it to where voices fade out the farther you are away from them or something and done. They were interesting games with shitty communication and teamwork.
Outbreak suffered from a little more than that. The controls weren’t as responsive as the older games. It felt more sluggish than it really needed to be. A game where teamwork is a big factor restricting communication to a couple of canned phrases was outright idiotic. Proper team coordination couldn’t exist. Small inventory (unless you were playing Yoko) sucked ass too.
sluggish and tank controls go hand in hand, IMO. RE was already known for that, and it still is even with “shoot while running”.
as for the rest that you mentioned, this just goes to show you the game was ahead of it’s time.
you still had “crappy communication” in RE5 but it was still 100x better playing with an actual human than AI.
this also shows that the developers only look to ideas that may give their company more money instead of fixing core issues. RE is 15+ years old and still has the same issues damn near since day one.
just because it’s not game-breaking issues still doesn’t omit it self from being corrected.
Basically same shit… hordes of umdead come at you… fps… first person shit.
Outbreak had puzzles… interactive levels… a good feel like RE game. Only thing it lacked was good communication. If they re release it now it would be amazing.

the point of the quotes system in outbreak was to retain the horror feel that made them make the game in the first place, whats the point of killing the atmosphere with “hey go check over there, theres usually a monster that jumps out of there” or “so I was playing call of duty the other day”
some people just don’t get it
Being intentional game design doesn’t make it suck any less. Not being able to communicate properly in a game where teamwork is an important element is straight up awful game design. I want to see you try to formulate a plan of action when the only form of communication you have are canned phrases.
I enjoyed the outbreak games. Ving rhames and David ducoveney. Mad celebrities in that game…sisqo. Veronica mars…a few others too

Pretty sure Outbreak had better controls than the older ones, especially File 2. You could actually move around a bit and shoot, and that was before RE5 came into existence, IIRC. The games were ahead of their times, for certain.
Complaining about small inventory in a classic styled RE game? :wtf: I didn’t even run into issues when I played with the A.I…
Black Ops Zombie mode is nowhere near as refined as L4D, nor is it really similar: zombies aside. In fact, Zombie mode sucks as soon as you reach the higher levels.
I would love if I had an Outbreak styled game (or another outbreak game period ) , with L4D’s director and controls.
I can see text based communication working but voice chat?
I would have accepted text chat but voice would have been preferred. Other than the leechman what was scary about Outbreak anyway?
It’s a minor gripes I had with it. I couldn’t do shit with four inventory slots. The A.I were too stupid to be reliably used as pack mules and in my experience, other players would horde everything damn thing for themselves. Being Yoko eased that pain as her special ability was four extra slots.
you do know you’re asking me a wildly subjective question right?
if you don’t understand even the attempt at video game immersion and would prefer all games to be a thing that a couple of people get together to *do *just *because *then this discussion is getting nowhere.
