Resident Evil (Questions & Discussions) Thread

Sadly no, no HUNK this time.

Capcom should do a Resident Evil: The Mercenaries as a full release. Everyone playable. Tons of maps to pick from. Enemies spanning the entire series. And of course, Hustleman being the guy hosting the shop were you purchase unlockable content.
Chris Redfield
Jill Valentine
Barry Burton
Rebecca Chambers
Brad Vickers (playable as a zombie mwahaha)
Albert Wesker
Billy Cohen
Claire Redfield
Leon Kennedy
Ada Wong
HUNK
Carlos Oliveira
Steve the worthless guy whose last name I don’t even remember
Jack Krauser
Sheva Alomar

Anybody I’m forgetting here? Maybe a few cross-series cameos?

Chris can do the neckbreaker. Shoot an enemy in the leg, then run around behind them and melee. He does a neckbreaker. If playing as Sheva, she will slit their throats.

The neckbreaker was awesome, but seriously, how awesome was that Football Punt he had?

I think you covered almost everyone, but if you’re tossing in someone from Re3 what about Nikolai? Or wouldn’t his weapon set be similar somewhat to Hunk ?

Edit: Include Mikhail. I forgot about him as well.

Don’t forget that handyman from Outbreak. He had sick knife skills.

Leon should have a “Hey, it’s that dog” assist that charges up like krauser’s arm.

If we’re lucky, Capcom will do some Mercenaries DLC, it sounds pretty plausible to me.

The fact that the single player experience is marred by some horribly implemented (and just generally horrible) AI, makes RE5 a huge disappointment for me. Capcom planned on having this as the last game with the RE4 gameplay mechanic so obviously they should have focused on brushing up any issues with it that were in RE4 (there really weren’t many). Instead they went for some halfway point between keeping the old system and trying in some misguided attempt to innovate. As a result they completely fucked up the single player experience essentially making co-op mandatory.

Maybe the assholes will try to sell us “DLC” that gives you back the attache case, make it so that your partner isn’t a liability, and actually makes it the game an improvement on RE4. Fucked again by Crapcom.

Are you talking about Sheva being next to useless? That I agree with for sure.

Personally I am loving the single player experience and I have no desire to play coop at all.

Yeah I’m talking about Sheva.

The single player would be just as great as RE4 had they not done one thing: add a partner that is a liability.

By adding this partner there’s a two significant problems.

  1. She can die.
  2. The inventory system is now FUBAR.

They should have just left the attache case alone from RE4, and made it so that Sheva can’t die IF they really wanted a partner to be in the game that badly.

I would have preferred they had not added in any partner at all, but making a partner with liability but then making it’s completely fucking retarded is just frustrating at fuck.

Honestly my dog could play Sheva better than the AI, it really is that bad.

I had some frustration with this recently.

I have been running through the Garden stage to farm money by killing lickers for the Lionheart gems. Each run through from the beginning of that stage to the elevator gets you $13,400 and takes only about 10 minutes.

Well…once the lickers attack she JUST FUCKING STANDS THERE!!! Even when she is set to ATTACK instead of COVER…she just STANDS THERE!!! ARRGGGGHHH!

That is really the only part of the game where she lets me down, for the rest of the game I treat her like a walking attache case and things are fine. Most of the time I don’t even give her a weapon…lol…

But for the lickers, I gave her the HYDRA shotgun and she would only fire about once every minute…so disappointing.

Other than that one aspect, which is only a problem in very specific parts of the game, I LOVE THIS GAME.

Co-op is where it’s at on this game (RE5). I know that isn’t really fair to single players, but I tell you true - get a friend. Me and a buddy of mine are loving this game so much, and a good reason for that is, we’re playing together!

Can’t say much about the single player though. All I hear is how bad Sheva’s AI is so I’m not likely to experience that by choice

Had the same problem with Sheva, wouldn’t shoot until the enemy is REAL close. I ended up giving sheva a handgun. :bluu:

See that’s how I’m treating her but there’s a couple problems…

First if you treat her like an attache case, you have to forget she’s mobile, like a pack mule…a fucking retarded pack mule that likes to stay as far away from you as possible and get itself molested by zombies.

Second if you give her a handgun she’ll get owned repeatedly, it’s a true test of patience to play on veteran with her considering she’s a pain in the backside if you give her shit because she’s never there when you need her or she’s a pain in the backside if you don’t give her shit because she just dies over and over.

The inclusion of partner AI and lack of the RE4 style inventory and purchasing system are the only flaws in the game. For me they’re large enough to mar the entire experience.

Are you calling for help by pressing B or just sitting there expecting her to help? She will help if you tell her to.

Sheva’s AI isn’t nearly as bad as some of you guys make it out to be.

  1. Cover mode only. She rarely strays from my side.
  2. Give her a rifle. She’ll shoot shit before you see it.
  3. Let her handle healing.

I’m nearly through on Vet, and the only times I died were my own fault, not the AI.

^Yea i agree…

i will admit tho that the AI kept getting killed by those spider/mantis things with the insta-kill grab. That shit was a lil irritating

I have tried attack AND cover mode.

I have given her every weapon in the game that I have, searching for something she doesn’t suck with.

She always handles healing, and by “handles” I mean she uses herbs WAY too soon in a wasteful manner.

Try fighting the hordes of lickers in the underground garden stage and see how useless she is.

But I still don’t mind her…again, she is just a walking attache case and that is fine with me.

Thats EXACTLY how I beat Vet. She’s actually pretty good for the most part.

However, Professional mode is a BITCH. Anyone wanna co-op that shit? I’m on Chapter 2-1.

:wtf:

Green herbs heal 25%. When one character loses 25% or more, she’ll use a herb. 75% or more lost, she’ll use a FAS or G+R. That’s smart healing.

My Sheva always shoots the lickers when I shoot. I don’t know why yours insists upon sucking.

play 5-3 instead, i make 25,000 in about 7 minutes

sheva’s AI has some good and bad.

the good: she can snipe enemies from far away with reliable accuracy

the bad: uses up wayy too much ammo, too trigger happy and not too great in close quarters

I think Sheva’s AI is pretty decent. She’s a beast with a sniper rifle.

It would be great if she could conserve ammo and initiate melee attacks. If she did that I don’t think too many people would be complaining.
