I’ve been watching scenario walkthroughs lately (on chapter 3 now) and I’ll have to admit, the game looks pretty damn good. I know one thing, I’m playing as Helena. That girls runs fast as hell. :eek: Much faster than Leon.

So this game has been out for a couple days so how are people liking it?
Is it just a generic shooter with zombies or does it feel like a resident evil?
You can… You can actually play the game and it’s levels on your ass. Like I mean dodge roll and streak your cheeks across the game. It’s quite funny.
Finished Leon’s campaign. About to start Chris’s. Leon’s was overall decent, but so much missed potential in it.

Yeah, I’m starting to hate Ada. At first she was cool, but now she’s being all cryptic and shit, going by the "If you don’t play your cards right…"flies off with grappling gun, not to mention being insensitive to Helena about her sister. And Leon is still thinking about her. 
I actually like the darker chris in re6. He was such a robot boyscout in the others. They needed to show him being pushed to the edge.
Anyay On chapter 2 in Leons campaign. Still feeling it so far. Finished the other campaings. Once I finish this one ill do some mercs and then proceed to do the campaigns on “no hope left” online

Man, I hate this game. Was playing Leon’s chapter two. Got to a checkpoint and shut the game off because I had to head to work. Just logged on to find the game put me like 30 minutes back at a previous checkpoint. Awesome! Like I wasn’t hating this game enough all ready. Now I have the game paused an I’m just debating on if I should do all over again or just play something fun instead.
This game fucking sucks. Resident Evil couldnt have gotten further away from itself. The people defending it are drones. Its garbage and even if you do enjoy this garbage (as opposed to how alot of people are just doing mental acrobatics to try and act like its not as dumb as it is) you cant tell me this is the natural evolution of resident evil. This is not where the series should be. Wrong genre, wrong fucking planet. Does anyone defending this mess of a game really think it was designed with the mentality of “Lets make the best game we can, the best Resident Evil experiance yet”? See, cause it feels to me like it was designed with a “Oh that should sell / Lets simplify everything and just have more of it” mentality. Im glad the reviews are trashing it. I dont normally care about reviews because theyre always so non objectional and afraid to step on toes but the fact that this is getting trashed is great. Dont kid yourself, you know its got problems… Too many problems that directly hurt gameplay. Bad enough they leave everything that made the series in the trash and abandon what everyone liked about it, they did it just to try and cash in on trends in the industry that are already tired. Remeber when RE was innovative, leading by example? Remember when they had atmosphere all thier own that didnt feel like anything else? Remember when the series made you actually think and progress by using your brain? Now its QTEs where you mash a button or wiggle the stick as fast as you can to get ahead. Its garbage. You know it sucks or at least its not what it should be. Gameplay wise, quality wise, or both.
I think you should write more vague reviews. I’d love to read your analysis on a “Tale of Two Cities”, which I assume is just “This book is long, and a lot of french shit happens” sprawled over a paragraph.

the atmosphere is missing,
thinking for yourself is missing(garbage puzzles and few of them),
with QTEs doing things for yourself is missing,
its a different genre of game for some reason,
the camera is lame,
the way you melee is lame,
being able to melee is lame.
forced co op is lame,
tripping is lame,
the action is tacky and not tasteful at all…
Those are some of the problems I have with it.
In general I have a problem with people liking it as well. That may come off as pompous but I dont care. This should not be called Resident evil and whether someone likes it or not, it should be acknowleged that the series is off course and is evolving unnaturally due to what bigwigs THINK people want in games nowadays, thus forcing mechanics, style, and even genre on those of us (resident evil [as it has been known to be] fans) who dont want it. Would this be the game it is if there was no COD or GoW? Let me rephrase that since RE does owe alot to Alone in the dark and similar titles…Would this be the game it is nowadays if COD or Gow wasnt as popular as they are? If you like RE as an action style game to each his own but IMO and alot of others its lame and a sell out / cash in type deal.
However I wouldnt care about any of these things if there was an RE game that was true to its origins. Whether it simply be a spinoff like alot of other REs or a main numbered entry while the action based titles were relegated to spinoffs. Why not give the people what they want? Who were the people clammering for for REorc? Why cant we have a survival horror/puzzles/exploration/maybe even (in my dreams) fixed camera series parallel with the action series? Something with ghouls and monsters that are creepy, maybe even environments that are claustrophobic at times, maybe using Jill or Barry or one of the other Stars members as the main character, or not. What we have now doesnt even slightly resemble what put this series on the map. It wouldnt matter so much or be so disappointing where they took the series as long as they pay homage to its roots and the fans that made it what it is by finding common ground in some way. As it stands, us old school fans have a nice cozy spot in the trashcan besides the legendary games the series, and to a degree, the company itself was built on (as far as execs are concerned). Bullshit.
Funny you mention Tale of two cities btw as I just found a copy of that book right outside a cemetary near where i live while walking to the library for an unrelated title. So now I own it. Random tidbit there… Edit: Since were talking RE and (not really) books, I was on my way to the library to pick up a zombie novel called Day by Day Armageddon and if anyone likes zombies, I cant recommend it highly enough. Excellent and addictive read.

I think you need to come away from the fake “resident evil” title and wake up to the original “bio hazard” I think they have plenty of opportunities to make their games spooky and slower. I’m enjoying biohazard if you can’t open your mind then too bad for you
Don;t see how a title change suddenly flips the script on the titles history. Resdient Evil or Bio Hazard it’s still the same series. Calling it Bio Hazard doesn’t suddenly make it’s change of pace and direction magically ok, or warranted, or even wanted.
I don’t even understand what that kind of argument is even supposed to mean. Is Castlevania some how magically divorced from it’s history cuz it’s called Akumajo Dracula in Japan?

In the off chance you are reading this, something is wrong with your eyes to be so sure that 6 looks so much better than 5 that you dont even have the decency to read my entire post before quoting and replying ignorantly to it. RE5 runs at more frames and is simply superior graphically. No technical mumbo jumbo needed to make a case, just look at one, then the other. To be fair its probably due to the size of 6 being so huge that the graphics suffer but it is what it is. It could also have to do with the characters looking older and tired but thats preference i guess. Maybe it has something to do with the camera being funky allowing enemies to get blown up past what they should on the screen. The backgrounds of 6 look pretty good as long as you dont get to close to objects or walls… Why am I bothering explaining this, you wont agree with what im saying until a few months from now when all is settled and you realize the game is 0 fun to replay yet enough time has elapsed that you dont feel so stupid for having wasted money on an (almost) universally panned turd of a game that you need to white knight for it.
Also, I agree with the RSG, what you said about it being biohazard in Japan makes no sense and has no bearing on gameplay.

Yes the new Resident Evil’s are not that good, especially compared to the old games (RE1/2 veronica etc)… but hey come on, it’s just a video-game and Capcom needs to get paid. They’ve got office parties and hot blondes and Japanese supermodels to attend to. This is of more importance than creating good games.
Okay I read your whole post, but I’m only quoting that part for a reason. Some say I have a real pet peeve about hyperbole and the way people phrase things, and I’m just going to say this is a perfect example.
So first things first: most of what you just listed was in RE4. QTE’s, Lackluster puzzles, So/so Camera, the entirety of the melee system. If anything from what I’ve seen they expanded on that exact same melee system. So my problem here is that you’re complaining about this stuff like it’s singular to this game when it’s been there since the last two entries-- which is misleading. And not only that, saying melee is “lame” is again, really stupidly vague and incredibly subjective.

You make an interesting point on atmosphere, but I disagree that they’re somehow desecrating sacred “resident evil”. I absolutely loved 4, and I agree with you that the atmosphere of both 5 and 6(from what I’ve seen) looks decidedly less scary and more action oriented than previous installments. But then again, Half-Life 2 had a very different atmosphere from Half-Life 1(graphics aside) and was still an incredible game.
I know you want a terrifying Resident Evil game-- and to some extent you’re right about how the game’s traditions dictate that it needs to be a much more tense experience-- but the vitriol you’re throwing at it doesn’t fit the crime it feels. There’s a significant difference between a 6/10 game and a 0/10 game. This is a 0/10 game, and I don’t think RE6 deserves that.This is a 4/10 game, and RE6 I feel shouldn’t even warrant that. This is a 6/10 game, which from what you’re describing to me, would make sense. Playable, has some neat stuff, but not spectacular or progressive to it’s brand in any way.
