Just tried the demo, fuck this shit. If the final build is anything like it (which I’m guessing it will be so close to launch) I’ll be passing on this hot mess.
Anyone who actually bothered to look at how the game really worked from a mechanic standpoint (I.E. Pretty much no one) knew this shit back when RE4 dropped. All he did was move the camera and implement free aiming. Gamer’s are morons tho, so no wonder they didn’t see it.
isnt this the dragon’s dogma demo? if not…ut oh…
Hahaha… Those sandwich textures in Leon’s campaign… Really?
Also, press R2 to see where to go and meter indicators to see how far away your next objective is.
Think I’ll pass on this game.
Alright, since the majority of the thread seems to hate the game, I’ll do it a favor and will no longer defend it.
add me: Djhyperkid I actually played co-op with someone and it wasn’t bad at all. The camera was weird but, I liked it. I just need to get used to the controls.
Having loved RE4/5 and played the Dragon’s Dogma RE6 demo here are my thoughts on the new demo. Also you guys are funny. I wish people could do more than say something sucks all the time and actually give a critique and without resorting to sounding like kids either: “This game is shitty! These controls suck! I hope Crapcom fails!” I mean really guys? Anyway…

This is a MUCH better demo all around. The DD demo was weak on gameplay for the Leon section and too nutty for Chris’ section. Jake’s was straight with the big guy boss fight.
-
The camera is still an issue. After playing Chris’ part I still hate that I have such a huge blind spot. If this isn’t fixed/turned into a tunable option I would love to hear an explanation for Capcom’s choice. RE4/5 never had any issues with the camera. What RE6 feels like is the camera is inside the left center of a box, level with the character’s waist. Everything that I can see is so tightly confined. This makes the next part feel even stranger.
-
While it’s tits awesome that just holding down A let’s me sprint and vault over objects automatically what isn’t cool is that for tight controlled movement I need a bit more finesse. See now that the camera is trapped in that box and I have what feels like an 360 run it feels very awkward when I hit back on the analog stick and I start running toward the camera. In every RE pressing back makes you step backwards. If you need to turn around and run you’d have to press a button plus back and the character would do a 180. This is a strange choice and I also would love an explanation. And for third person shooter that do just let you run back towards the screen the camera is far enough away from the player so that you can at least see 10 feet ahead of the character. Thinking of another Capcom third person shooter, the Lost Planet series never had a problem with camera or movement so I know that someone on this giant dev team knew that something was a little wonky.
-
The new dodge controls are sort of neat but also feel clunkier than they need to. I think that a single tap of the sprint button plus the analog stick should just send you dodging in whatever direction you chose. A double tap should send you right on to your back. And holding down sprint will let you do just that. I just got done playing a lot of Dark Souls and the fact that dodging and running are handled by a single button just makes me feel like Capcom didn’t try that hard to really refine the controls. This leads me to the changes with the aiming and cover.
-
The cover system really doesn’t bother me to much. It’s not the tightest but it works and I never felt like it really got in my way. The camera sniffing my ass did that. Go into cover and so much of your situational awareness decreases. Aiming feels better than on the DD demo and the ol’ laser dot works fine. I miss the fine aiming though which brings me to my next part.
-
While not present in the demo for obvious reason I think that Capcom is foolish for swapping upgradable guns with this skill system. I mean there might be some neat skills in the game that might tip the balance skill strongly in the favor of the player but shit like steady aim or possibly more powerful pistol shots is stupid. A weapon’s accuracy and power should be only be directly connected to the weapon. Making one character amazing with the pistol just seems strange and gives the game an even more arcadey feel. Choosing your load out is such an important part of the RE experience and I think I will miss it come Oct 2nd.
TL;DR. I don’t think I’m going to fall in love with RE6 like I did the previous two games. I certainly think that going at the game like it’s Disney World instead of just a single ride or attraction stretches out the RE formulas too thin. Focusing on all these characters and making sure that they all feel EPIC seems like a desperate move on Capcom’s part like they can’t make a carefully executed high budget console game anymore. However, I’m still going to keep my preorder and give the game a chance. At least for my troubles Microsoft is giving me 1600 XBL points and a $10 gift card. And if the game is that bad I can probably get at least $30 from Gamestop out of it within the first few weeks.
whatculture.com has a pretty well written article naming 14 reasons this demo/game sucks. Worth checking out but I cant link it. Maybe somebody else will? Its pretty spot on with all its reasons.
EDIT: IGN is also saying negative things about it as well as linking a negative review from push-start.co.uk. Seems like its getting panned all around. Glad to see it since I figured all these reviewers would just be sucking the teet… Seriously this demo is so bad lol. Dont be ashamed to cancel your pre orders, its not your fault.
IDK maybe its just me but other than the camera problem which IMHO aint that bad
Demo is aiight with me.
Played Chris and Leon.
Leon shit felt more like what i know dark enviroment ammo issue if you chose to shoot at shit etc. Love the slide and dodging shit feels more organic to me. Lord knows if Zombies was after me oh best believe my actions will be action packed.
Chris shit fells like CoD, i cant front the chaos sorta had me hyped and everybody on srk knows Im usually hyped up any way!! but chris shit felt dope
Now Imma do Jake shit.
I think they only need to tweak the cam a bit and they really should have kept the old school weapon/item layout from last game.
We all knew after part 4 the whole old school shit we loved they aint gonna really do that anymore. If we took a stand and didnt buy CoD in record numbers game devs would be forced to relax with all the Cod type stuff in 3rd person games.
To end yes they can make improvements but shit is still fun to me. Times have changed it’s partially our fault for bitching about tank controls etc. Now we have more action.
Night of the living dead is a classic but if shit is going on like 28 weeks later then thats what survival is all about adapting.
Chris part felt hella fast is the demo suppose to end there for Chris?
LMAO glad Leon part ended there when they jumped into the sewers i said fuck this lemme turn my lights on lol.
Now time to see wassup with Jake.
I’m not going in depth with this crap to dissect how bad it is. I’ll leave that to the reviewers who get paid to do that shit. You’d have to pay me to redownload and playthrough that demo again.
Now that I’m over the shit controls and camera, I just can’t believe how bad the graphics are. RE5 was and still is stunning looking on consoles. This game has laughable textures, and is really low poly in many areas… What ghetto ass engine is this on… Remindse of the Dead Rising 2 engine, another God awful game with way downgraded graphics from its predecessor. What the fuck is wrong with Capcom
Leon’s campaign was fun even if melee felt way overpowered
Chris’ campaign felt awful and boring, just a bad 3PS to me. Also the “is he always so awesome” line made me roll my eyes, Chris Redfield is ass.
Jake’s campaign felt fine, the cocoon type monsters seem annoying but whatever
Overall, I thought the demo was fine and it’s cool that all 3 campaigns play differently BUT I really just want a Leon type campaign the whole way
wheres josh and sheva in this demo?

NOT AMUSED
Lol, black people.
Also, that was part of Aizen’s plan.
OG Chris is awesome. “NO! Don’t go!” and Brad Chickenheart Vickers was like Oh Gawd now he’s gonna be even MORE pissed I can’t go back there now man fuck that sideways.
NEW Redfield is ass. Roidfield is ass. Liefeld is ass. I forget what we were talking about.
I played for like 15 min or so of Leon’s campaign before the storm outside threatened to fuck my house in half, and here’s what I noticed:
-Jaggies on shadows? In 2012? On MY HDTV? (it’s more likely than I think)
-Leon seems to think his nametag reads “F. West” cuz he’s grabbin’ zombies and hitting them with like wrestling moves. I was waiting for the button prompt to do a Hurricanrana off the top rope; maybe that’s later in the demo
-I hate that I can blow the top half of a zombie head off and it’ll keep coming at me…
-but I love Leon.
-I didn’t like that zombies could use melee weapons, but I DID like that Leon could finish them off with that weapon, thereby teaching them how a proper zombie acts in public. Before you mention the CVirus or whatever, don’t. Just do not do it.
Will play and write more tomorrow. Kinda liked it so far.
Hey now Leon was decapitating zombies with German Suplexes well before Dead Rising
I know that, I’m talking about the…head…thing…it’s like the end of Frank’s AA Hyper in UMVC3…grabs em by the back of the dome and floors em. He’s gripping them by the neck and twisting his whole body everywhere. It’s actually kind of awesome to watch.
Also, I know every reviewer and his mum said RE: ORC was bad, but I’m actually REALLY enjoying it. Not so much as an RE game, but rolling through Raccoon blasting zombies is kinda all I ever wanted to do. And the CQC kills? Forget about it, man. SO cool.
I don’t know or really care what others think, but this has always been the one true reason I play any RE. Learning the game & speed-running it was just a means to unlock infinite ammo. Of course, that was back in the day when the only other zombie-game around was HotD.
I’m digging the controls & the camera’s better. Looking forward to this game more so now than when it was first announced.
I won’t rehash FurryCurry’s thoughts on the camera to much. I’ll just state that I feel like it needs a lot of work and keep it moving.
Leon / Helena: I really like parts of this section. It’s probably this games’ saving grace for me. In fact, I wish they poured more resources into this section and less into Chris’. One thing I don’t like, is invincible enemies until you walk up to a trigger. Didn’t like it in the end of Chris section in the DD demo, don’t like it in any other game, and sure as hell despise it in this one. It’s not clever in the slightest. Dead Space lets you body check necromorphs from range, so they don’t get the drop on you, especially since half of the time it’s obvious as fuck when they’re going to attack you. I shot a zombie in the head five times and it did nothing. I literally took a step and it gets up and starts shambling towards me. >:( C’mon son. Get outta here with that shit. It wouldn’t even be an issue for me if it was one or two, but damn near all of them? That’s that shit I don’t like…
Did handguns get nerfed in this game? I swear I had all day to aim in this section and still managed to use way to many bullets.
Chris: Honestly, this felt like an uninspired Gears of War and Uncharted clone, mixed with CoD, and that’s being nice. The boss fight wasn’t as offensive as RE5’s Gigante fight, but it wasn’t anything worth mentioning. I just hope that it doesn’t end up with you killing it with a turret, which I’m guessing is going to happen. RE4 Gigante took strategy and reactions to fight. I just ran from left to right shooting this in the huge ass shoot me sign on his back, and walked up an got my Kratos on, only to see his bitchass run (smartest dude in the demo).
This campaign all boiled down to walk straight -> survive for a set time / do enough damage -> walk straight -> do shit for a set period of time again -> walk straight -> survive another fucking arena. And that’s after having done that shit once in Leon’s section. Meh. The difference between the way it handles arenas and RE4 and to some extent 5, is that they took time to make shit interesting. Couple my personal issues with the level design, it’s lack of subtlety in showing you shit, and camera problems I ran into, and it’s a huge ass knock against the game for me.
The sniper rifle seemed like it had way more sway than it use to. I’ll chalk it up to me having ass aim or the skill system. I was playing as the other dude (not Chris).
Jake / Sherry: Swear they made the cover system more for his ass than anyone else. lol. Just charge that multi-lock god palm in cover, let it go, and everything dies. That level is so*** ass*** though. Whomever designed it should be ashamed of themselves. Shinobi PS2 levels of bad.
Overall, I dunno. Only one campaign is making me really want to play this, as well as the potential for being gdlk in Mercs mode. This seems like it’s suffering from an identity crisis, while attempting to borrow elements from other games and missing what made them good to begin with.
And honestly, I’m not opposed to a segment like Chris’. I just hate that they’re making it as cookie cutter as fucking possible. There are so many better games to reference for something like this ( HL1: Opposing Forces comes to mind), and not Call of Duty.
