Can’t read Japanese, but according to this analysis of the new demos (credit goes to neogaf forums), I’m guessing the PS3 version will have better shadows, & the 360 version will now be v-synced…why couldn’t Capcom do that for all the previous 360 MT Framework games?.
Nothing wrong from a TECHNICAL standpoint? What demo did you play? The one I played is a janky 20-something frames per second. It was God awful. I thought Binary Domain had some framerate issues, but that game was INFINITELY better and more playable framerate than this shit. It’s not exaggeration, and when the gaming media gets a hold of this game it’s not going to be pretty.
I played through the RE5 demo countless times. Say what you will about the games lack of horror and things of that nature, it was a solid performer with good controls. This is an abortion.

Remember when static camera angles and tank controls weren’t a hit any more so they made RE4? Well now this game happened, it could have come out a lot worse through the CoD filter, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The freedom of movement is something else, I can’t wait to see top level Mercs play in this game.
Tank controls ala RE1/2/3/CV would be much preferable to whatever the hell it is I’m trying to play right now. Although they were archaic as was the static camera, it was very enjoyable in the 90’s and they still are fun today. You can even say that RE4’s controls, today, might be a little dated but THEY WORK. Really well, actually, to this day (just played through RE4 not to long ago).
This however, this… the entire control scheme needs scrapped. Just awful in every way.
Also by far the worst framerate in a AAA 360 game, ever. Halo 3 included.
I can’t even stand to watch MYSELF play the game, lol. The framerate and camera is giving me a migrane.
I’m not even concerned with the GRAPHICS, per say. They are below average but I don’t care about graphics. It’s the framerate that is killing this. 20 FPS is not playable to me. Maybe PlayStation gamers are used to these types of framerates, but to me this is nearly unplayable I’m not asking for a miracle 60 fps on console I’m asking for a stable 30 fps.
I’ve come to the conclusion that people need to get off their high horse, take the nostalgia dick out their mouths for a second and stop itching to find something to bitch about in this game. The main legit complaint I can say about the demo is the camera but it really isn’t a bother. Other than that, the game is legit and fun.

Yeah, honestly, I just played at least through Leon’s demo, and shit was fine other than the camera slightly, but I can definitely get past it for the most part. Controls are fine once you get used to them, which for anyone that doesn’t have the brain of a toddler, will not take that long. As for frame rate being slow…what? Where were these frame rate problems exactly?
If you hated RE5 but liked RE4, then you at least have Leon’s part to somewhat enjoy. If you hated both games, stay far away. If you liked both or RE5 in general, idk how the hell you can hate RE6 other than just to grandstand.
P. sure I am still the only person on SRK that didn’t have a problem with and actually enjoyed Tank Controls.
Downloaded the demo, will give a fair shake later. I still have zero interest in this title as nothing has really wowed me. But you guys and others are hyping the Leon campaign and I was genuinely intrigued by the Ada campaign vids, so maybe two out of four is worth it.
My main concern is what is the point of getting it new when Capcom has a track record of releasing either a Gold edition or cheaper version later down the line, there’s enough this holiday season to entertain me as I wait for it to depreciate.

Just played the Leon section and wow… Anyone who said this was an old school RE fans dream mustve never played an old school RE game. The camera is awful, definitely a big deal. I havent kept up with news on this game at all really so I could have a fresh PoV while trying it. It didnt help. I have no interest in trying the other 2 parts of this demo. Maybe if i get really bored ill try them. I really miss tank controls. Theyre rough to get used to for 10 minutes but then its a breeze and it adds a ton to the atmosphere. Diving and rolling all over the place and running as the default way of moving… Ridiculous. These controls are all over the place. The camera being crazy mixed with these controls is retarded. Really makes me miss the caerma style of the old games, it was so creepy and every new angle was like a living painting to explore. I really wish we could get a survival horror game as like a seperate thing like ORC. I really miss that style…
It might be lame and even cliche to say this but RE5 was definitely a better game from what ive seen so far. RE5 demo vs this demo really makes you wonder if they even care anymore. Im surprised they put out a demo for this at all. Really surprised some people think it could be GotY. Well, heres hoping the demo hurts them and this game sells far less than expected. IMO its pretty terrible.
I absolutely despised and still do despise Tank Controls and I’ll forever be vocal about it. If that doesn’t make me a true RE fan, then fuck it, I’ll give you every single RE game I have, I really don’t give a shit. Tank Controls were a fucking illusion of challenge and fear.
As for the Gold Editions or whatever, every game with likely single player DLC has versions like that, it’s not specific to Capcom. In any case, do what I’m doing with Arkham City.

I love RE4, this is nothing like it. I really dont think the majority of people who liked 4 will like this at all. 4 was fresh and clean and fluid and creepy and different while right off the bat this is the opposite of all those things.

RE4 and 5 actually have tank controls. They are 1st person tank controls, with freedom to shoot anywhere, and an added (and fun) melee mechanic, amongst other tweaks, but they are very close to the old games, just with first person camera. Shinji Mikami fooled everyone. Anyone who has played the RE5 Lost In Nightmares DLC and unlocked the easter egg found out this mindblowing secret years ago.

im still not sure on it. ill most likely get it still but to claim anybody who doesnt like it is just saying so to be trendy is a little big headed tbh.
the controls are very loose in this which im not keen on, and it can get confusing very easily. trying to take down those dog things with jake is a nightmare if you get a couple of them on you since youre just fighting with the camera half the time.
i was looking forward to playing this with my gfrend (who loves both 4 and 5) and she just tried the demo and was getting motion sickness within seconds, so she most likely wont be able to play this one at all which is a shame. that was only leons campaign as well i havent even tried chris one yet.
the QTE bits at the end of leons demo are shit as well.

Its not nostalgia I want, I do pull out the older games quite often to play, or did before my wii took a shit. Theyre amazing games aside from nostalgia. Very original. I never played CV until they put it on XBLA and i thought it was great. Really great tbh and I have no nostalgic bond with it, its just good. Same way REmake could stand on its own without a nostalgia factor. its not nostalgia people want from RE, its a creepy game thats scary to play alone in the dark.
And demos are only bad for bad games. TBH I bought RE5 day 1 because the demo while I was gonna buy this day 1 but now wont because the demo. In fact ill probably not even bother getting this used.
Its ok people have different opinions. You have a new RE game you like while alot of us havent had one in a while. Its ok that we are vocal about it. Maybe one day we can have these 2 types of RE games coexist at the same time and everyone will be happy.

Motion sickness, oh my God I know, from the moment the demo started. It’s dreadful. 20 FPS is not acceptable in a AAA game from any company, least of all Capcom… this is Daytona USA on the SEGA SATURN bad, and that’s not an exaggeration.
I have owned a 360 since 2005 and this is the worst framerate I have ever encountered on the system, bar none. Binary Domain, which is a very good TPS btw, had some framerate issues… but nothing like this. BD’s framerate is like heaven compared to this.
Matter of preference really, most people say they had a hard time playing the game due to control, but it took me like 20 minutes max to get the hang of it. Once I changed my button config, the game played like a dream despite a few graphical hiccups. But this IS a demo, I’m sure the final game is far more polished,you gotta remember this demo is MONTHS old even tho we’re just now getting it

Creepy and scary to play in the dark? lol yeah i’m sorry but the RE series has never been that to me. At the most they give you a tense atmosphere which has been standard through the whole series up to this point. But scary and creepy? Not so much.
