That’s true but…it’s getting ported…
I’ll eventually grab it. I just got RE6 for 20$, RE: Operation Coon City for cheap, and I still want the ported Wii rail shooters on PSN, Umbrella Chronicles I think. I wish that got a disc release(?)
Leon is fast becoming like green arrow in the sense that he is becoming largely defined by his relationship to ada just like oliver is to black canary. Every major story development for leon from 4 onward has had her involved in some capacity even as far as his live action debut. I suspect that given the progress of their relationship in 6 and damnation, his next and possibly last entry will primarily focus on resolving his love affair with ada with whatever story thrown in as a backdrop to set up their happy or unhappy conclusion.
Chris will probably hang around the series as a mentor to the next main guy, which from all indications looks to be like jack. I think it would be a smart move to have chris act as jake’s teacher/father figure given the relationship chris has with wesker. If they play out the cheese just right they could create a interesting kinship with jack becoming fond yet at the same time hating chris for what he’s done. It could very well be the same dynamic we see with terry and rock which oddly enough has the exact same setup with the main hero watching over his most hated enemie’s son.
I remember when she should always state her position whenever she was in a fight with both of them. When Ada stated it was true about Svetlana being a former instructor, Svety goes, “Former? I’m still am an instructor.”, meaning, “Bitch you ain’t shit!”. When she told Leon that she was the president of Russia, that easily translated to “Nigga, I run this!” and proceeded to whoop their asses.
For one it’s Jake, not Jack. Second I could see that. Jake does make a nice foil to Chris. And both Chris and Leon aren’t getting any younger.
But yeah, Leon/Ada shit is just taking over and it’s annoying because as everyone knows here, Leon’s my boy. And honestly I enjoy Ada. But it hurts me to see them bogged down by essentially each other. I mean, let’s have Ada hang out with someone else for a change. I mean, Ada having interactions with ANYONE other than Leon just seems interesting due to her loner style. And let’s have Leon go it alone for once. Either that or keep on Helena full time. But Leon, as shown in Damnation is trusted enough to do huge ass missions on his own essentially. Or hell, let’s have Hunnigan do something other than mission control. Hunnigan has been in 2 games and a movie, which I think makes her the franchise’s most used supporting character. Let’s get her out in the field now.
But there’s just one more thing that needs to be resolved. WHERE THE FUCK IS BILLY?
From this moment forth jake shall hence forth be known as jake!
I loved billy but damn capcom gave up on him only after 1 damn game. I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t be the new guy in 7 onward considering…
I don’t know if she technically kicked their asses.
I think people wrongly perceive her dominating those fights by the sheer fact that she avoided every attack ada and leon threw at her. However if you re-watch the fights again you can see that all she did was stand guard without landing any decisive hits herself. She counter-attacked plenty of times while she was dodging and was equally as negated in terms of any offensive blows…I think people just take her "wall like"defense as a indication that she was in control but in reality it had more to do with leon and ada deciding to go on the attack. I wouldn’t doubt it a possibility that she is a better H2H though since it was teased that she had some kind of "modification"with the scars on her back, but until more is shown of her I would call the fights a even stalemate. Interestingly enough ada did manage to land a kick when svety had her in that hold so I guess technically ada was the only 1 to actually land a hit during all the movies fight scenes.
Well Billy can’t be the new guy in 7 onwards for the same reason Leon and Chris wouldn’t be able to. Age. If I’m thinking correctly he should be in at least his 40s if not higher. Not someone to put the future of the franchise in. He can make a one-shot appearance in a game to close his arc but that’s it.
And having a godlike defense is still impressive. The only time Leon and Ada really struggled in fights was against each other. The fact is, she ruffled Ada’s feathers, stood her ground and came out on top. You could probably count on one hand how many times Ada’s even annoyed by anything. Let alone actually challenged in a fight. Svetlana’s such a good character because she’s on par if not superior to Leon and Ada in H2H but she’s very charismatic and doesn’t rely on Bioterrorism.
Well Billy could at least headline 7 and be somewhere in the back from that point forward.
I don’t see how she came out on top though, like in both situations leon and ada were already in a disadvantaged situation cause they were on her home court. Sevty had a poker face the entire time showing she was taking the fights as serious as she could while leon and ada had no idea what to expect so I think the intention of the scene was to show that ada was caught off guard and literally didnt expect this from her. I do agree having amazing defense is important but it essentially amounted to only resetting the pace of the match since none of her counter-attacks connected either. By contrast someone like wesker not only dodged but got in nearly all his counter-hits.
The way I look at it she was basically like a super defensive honda who blocked every unblockable,cross-up and jump-in in the round but ultimately got a time out because every time she tried for a EX reversal it was blocked too.
I love this idea of Chris and Jake and Leon discovering himself. OMG can the game just be about those three? I’d fucking love it. Maybe the co-op partner could be one that the player chooses if he so decides to take one. So instead of interweaving a story around two people it’s around one person and the other person is just there for gameplay back up. Like this game…

Timely one-liners is all that’s needed out of the back up.
Seriously, isn’t it about time Hunnigan picked up a gun and fight. I feel either RE6 or Damnation was a good opportunity for that, especially RE6 where she could have been a bonus character in Mercenaries seeing Capcom’s adding DLC’s for modes and stages (Onslaught, Survivors, Requiem of War).
Her fight with Ada, I will call a stalemate, but I didn’t see much from Leon personally. Ada was the only one who actually got in a hit, and when fighting Ada, Svetlana actually threw out some hits (more notably her spinning throat chop). Still, you’ve made quite an accomplishment if you managed to get *** ADA WONG*** annoyed during a fight. I have a thought that Svetlana was trained in Aikido and with her military experience, she formed that into her own fighting style, or better said, used certain techniques to form an almost impenetrable defense.
Another good reason Svetlana she needs to be in more games is because she got caught Ada off guard as aforementioned. Ada usually has her facts straight, but she thought at first that Svetlana was a normal president who needed her guard to protect her. Clearly, that was not the case when Ada got disarmed in a matter of seconds. Both she and Leon were on her territory, both fights were one on one. Ada already incapacitated the henchman before fighting Svetlana, however Leon had a bunch of gunman aiming for him before fighting Svetlana himself.
What the above said. As of now, Svetlana is the only person in the freaking franchise to get one over on Ada Wong. That alone could fuel a game, especially since Ada’s not in a very good mood after RE6.
In re-watching her fight with Ada again it was a absolute stalemate. Ada’s annoyance had more to do with her being unprepared as you mentioned due to usually having the facts straight before a mission. During the initial exchange when she grabbed the gun away from Ada I didn’t realize how many counter-hits she was attempting to land on Ada before the their positions got resetted again. I could easily see it as a fight that could go either way but I’m sure capcom will fully address with future instalments.
Leon’s was a bit less clear as you said. It was a brief exchange but she did attempt at least 1 counter-hit with her elbow that got blocked before she grabbed his knee that once again resetted the position. It looked like less of stalemate though then Ada but then again she did have armed guards pointing at him the entire time. Either way as would be a incredible new main boss in future games or at the very least a side boss.
I don’t know what the hell Carla had in that laboratory, but it must have been bad if it made Ada snap.
At that point I didn’t even care anymore. The story had potential and they screwed it all up. Kinda funny though in hindsight. The part that really pissed me off on Ada’s story was a very minor detail. It was simply her
Spoiler
Saving civilians.
Only because in doing so, it finally sets up that she’s on the hero side, and not ambiguous anymore. This drastically reduces the story potential she’ll have in the future, because she previously never did anything for anyone if she didn’t get something back out of it that would help her in the long run. And it’s not like they NEEDED to throw that situation in there to begin with.
…That doesn’t make her any less ambiguous. Just means she hates seeing pointless death. Something we already knew from the beginning. Plus most of it was coming from Carla posing as her. It’s one thing to not clean up messes, it’s a whole other thing to ignore them when it’s being caused by your bitchy doppelganger.
Since when did she even start to have morals? She was only nice to Leon. Sherry, I can understand saving, which I found was a nice touch, but civilians? Eh…
I take back my previous post to agree with this.
Well to elaborate, I found that entire part to just be unnecessary (Hey player, shoot these zombies for two minutes because we can’t think of anything else for you to do at this point). And her big intentions are still unknown, but by having a part like this, especially in a game where you DON’T reveal her true intentions or even hint at them, it just tells me that, no matter what those intentions are, they’re not evil. And if they up and say they are evil, it won’t make as much sense. If they had up and said she was a CIA agent or something, then I wouldn’t mind. If they said she was part of some secret anti terrorist group, I wouldn’t mind. But by not hinting at anything, they shouldn’t have put that part in at all so we could at least have more speculation as to if she’s really someone you could trust to not shoot you five times in the back and leave you for dead.
I’m not asking for her to be a heartless monster. I’m not asking for her to be mother teresa. I’m just asking that I don’t get a solid idea of what side she’s on before I should. I could just be a huge nitpicker here but I got irritated at that. Almost as irritated as how cliche Chris’s soldiers were.
At the same time we have to remember that Ada’s ambiguous nature has been her distinguishing characteristic for 5+ years and I suspect capcom is preparing to "progress"the series to a new line of main characters from 7 onward. If this is the case then it makes sense to stamp some finality to the stories of the original cast, and it’s actually 1 of the few things I can respect from capcom in respect to the RE series. I would like them to move forward and focus on a new cast with its own original villains, so if it means putting a"fin"to the current cast and their motivations then fine by me.
I think that’s why a lot of people like Ada. We know nothing about her, but she still manages to be an awesome character. Chris’s soldiers were irritatingly cliche, indeed, which is why I found his storyline boring. REAL boring.
