Stupid-ass execs thinking the same crowd that plays cookie-cutter, “played one, played them” all games like COD also plays Re is what ruined RE6. They tailored the game to people who wouldn’t even touch Re. The thinking that led to that is similar people 50 and up think about gamers. We (video game players) know that gamers only frequent genres we like and certain games of THOSE genres on top of that. Old or out of touch people think we play ALL games and just HAVE to own and be the best at each one…like it’s every gamer’s goal to be the ultimate master of every last game. Capcom needs younger people who are also gamers making directing decisions, not older people who are out of the loop, and prone to making stupid, expensive, MASSIVE judgement errors like the RE6 fiasco.
You should be blaming RE1, or his various versions in Mercs mode.
Will buy the random-ass rail shooters on PSN just for more Wesker.
The problem with RE6 isn’t its gameplay(the gameplay was actually really, really good.) The problem with the game was literally everything else otherwise. Shitty level design, terrible boss fights, silly chase scenes, stupid car/helicopter scenes, stuff like that. You’d be trying to enjoy the gameplay, then you’d get hit by all this crap. That’s why people live in Mercs mode in that game.
Now, granted I never played RE6, but is it true that you had to consciously try to run out of ammo to even have any sort of worry about it, and that Jake’s scenario was literally nothing but chase scenes?
i think resi 4 > 5 in terms of overall setting, bosses, weapons, gameplay, and everything else, HOWEVER…
resi 5 is one of the most enjoyable co op games ive ever played. me and my gf have played through the game countless times and it almost never gets old.
now if they made a game that was more like resi 4 but also had co op i would be sold sold sold.
i just got resi 6 for $6 too so im starting that now.
I remember seeing an article about Capcom, Resident Evil7, and their plans. Apparently they are responding to fan feedback about resident 6 and 5, and they want (finally) return to the true survivor horror games and they have already been developing RE7 for a few months now. And i think someone from Capcom (lead director for RE or something) said that they feel like “The Last of Us” is a good example of how a zombie game should be made.
Yeah, RE4 is usually what people consider to be the perfect blend of old school and new school RE. That being said, I know a lot of people that swear by RE2 being the best.
And as for RE6…I dunno, it feels like to me the “real Resident Evil 6” is called Resident Evil: Revelations.
All they gotta do is rip the combat system from RE5 or RE6, bring back the classic inventory system, severely limit ammo, remove co-op from the main campaign (make it a side mode), and atleast attempt to make the game scary again.
They’ll have another hit on their hands if they follow that formula.
It literally pains me to see Revelations at the bottom of that list. I love that game. I’m not even one of the RE6 haters, but to see it and the likes of ORC so ahead of Revelations is absurd.
