I mostly play my PS3 cause I just like the system more, and I prefer the controller, but if 360 has an exclusive I want or a VASTLY(E.G. Bayonetta) superior version of a game I just play it on there. I barely play my PSP at all anymore, but I’m definitely going to be playing GRAND KNIGHTS HISTORY
hmm doesn’t seem like a lot of folks so far split time evenly.
I actually wanted to post the different ‘options’ but ran out of poll options - so it digresses to console count and me sifting thru comments on what gets the majority of the play time. I’m actually surprised at how many PC users there are so far…very surprised. I should have in theory expanded the poll to include Droid and iOS devices, but its too late now…I actually spend more time gaming on my iPhone and iPad than any other device. I also thought there would be more Wii’s, though I’m not surprised at all about how they are being used as mine just sits there for similar reasons.
I’ve got both 360 and Wii. My Wii is pretty much a paperweight like everyone else, it’s sole purpose these days is to run my NES and SNES rom libraries. Other than that, I’ll admit I initially bought it because I’m a huge Mario Kart fan.
But of course as you know Unreal, I’m almost always running some MW2 on 360.
95% of my gaming is done on PC. Literally the only games I’ve played on console this year are fighters, Catherine, and Dissidia 012.
The fighters and Catherine I played on 360, mainly because I’m letting my friend borrow my PS3. I’m interchangeable on which system I play fighters on, since I own the ones I play on both systems and have a dual modded stick (though I prefer PS3 since you don’t have to pay for online play).
Since I got bored of Dissidia 012, I haven’t touched my PSP, mainly because I’m not “on the go” very often, and I’m usually driving when I am.
I’ve had my Wii loaned out to a friend for probably over a year now, and haven’t missed it much. The only thing the system has going for it is first party titles. Since they fucking finally dropped the prices of some of their years-old games, I might ask for it back and play through them when I get the chance.
Given the choice, I always pick PC for multiplatform games. Would much rather play at 1080P (or higher) than the sub-720P resolutions that the consoles run. Not to mention support for mods and fan patches.
I owned both the PS3 and 360. I sold my PS3 before the price break so I only lost $25 from the intial price that I bought it for. I like free gaming but I’d rather have good/reliable service then to be cheap. I hardly buy games and the ones that I do buy I play forever so the gold membership doesn’t really bother me since I don’t buy new games that often. Plus everybody I know, except the casual gamers, are on 360.
I think tablets like ipad should be an option too I just got it a few months ago and spend at least a few minutes playing games on it everyday especially in the bathroom.
I play 360 almost everyday, ps3, pc, and 3ds at least once a week, and wii almost never I just got it for zelda and brawl lol.
Of all those choices I have a PS3, Wii, Laptop, 3DS, and PSP. I plan on getting a Vita on launch too. I play on my PS3 the most. I played my Wii a bunch when it launched, but haven’t played it much recenlt except for Kirby and Opoona. I figure after Skyward Sword I probably won’t use it anymore.
i own a ps3, PC, and psp. I used to own all, but my xbox died and never replaced it, sold my wii because i never used it (same with the DS), but i might rebuy a DS because there are some games i am interested in.
Out of the systems listed on the poll, I have everything except for the 3DS.
For the most part, if I have free time, I’ll game on either my PS3, 360, or PC. My PS3 probably gets the most usage (largely for media), but I’ll game on my 360 or PC if there’s a good exclusive out for either one.
If there’s a good game out for the PSP (e.g., Peacewalker, Valkyria Chronicles 2, etc.) then I’ll use it. I also bring it with me when I go to the beach if I don’t have a book that I’m reading at the time.
I used the Wii a lot when it first came out, but I honestly haven’t used it very much since then. I think the last game I bought for it was Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
There are a few games that I want that are coming out for the 3DS, but I’m still hesitant since I don’t game as much, especially on-the-go.
So how many people actually still use their Wii’s? I realized when I got mine it was primarily for 1st party titles but sometimes I’m amazed at how little I use it.
Reading thru it - it seems like 95% of the people on here and that I’ve talked to IRL - don’t plaqy theirs. That doesn’t surprise me honestly, but I sort of wanted confirmation of that. Its the highest selling system for the home consoles if I remember correctly - byt a large margin, but if folks aren’t playing it…then what’s the point (as a game dev) as well you’ve got to look into 'why people play the 360/PS3 over the Wii and look at what you’re doing…if I’m developing a lets say online RPG - then it seems I would look to the PS3/PC/360 (in that order) for a release efforts would benefit me the most (from trends so far on SRK - just a sample size I know). If I wanted to do a party game, then Wii has the market cornered it looks like though.
360 - Play it at least 3-5 hours a week
PC and Laptop - Laptop is constantly on but I really don’t game on it much anymore. 1-2 hours of actual game play a week.
Wii - Haven’t played it in a loooooong ass time.
PSP- Fancy paper weight. Occasional Ultimate Ghosts n’ Goblins play but mostly it sits. 1 hour of play a month maybe.
I’ve got a PS3, 360, Wii, PSP, and PC, and my playtime goes like this:
360 - Play it about every other day.
PS3 - Play it about once a week.
Wii - Only use it for Netflix in the bedroom on the old TV. Haven’t played a game on it in a loooooooong time.
PSP - Play it on flights.
PC - Play games on it infrequently.
