So I can’t lie I’m tired of playing this character and working so damn hard for nothing but, I can’t find a character that will transition my skills with hawk. And no gief is not where near the same as hawk 2 very different grapplers. Anyone have suggestions?
Traitor! Hah j/k I played Ibuki for a little bit but she is like the opposite end of the spectrum…
Have you tried Abel? Im not to familiar with him but he has some interesting moves.
There is no fitting character in AE.
I’m not trying to be a traitor but he is in no way a good main tournament wise he has too many bad matchups im tired at always being at a disadvantage or feeling im lacking tools
Just play Seth.

Too hard to play consistently and is too risky
Seth is the the only character thats close to T.Hawk =/
Explain
what about hakan?
I picked up Adon as a secondary char to my T.Hawk.
I felt that the footsie game I picked up with T.Hawk translated pretty well to Adon as they both have excellent normals.
You get a similar ambiguous cross up move in the form of j.mk as opposed to T.Hawk’s splash. You can also follow up on the cross up with a force stand move (Adon: st.mk, Hawk: st.mp) and cancel it into SRK. The nice thing for Adon is that you can FADC off this into Ultra 2.
I find Honda is pretty much the same kind of character. His moves are easy to pull off, combos are not complicated, and each attack is clear and simple, like hawks. He even has a command grab, and command grab ultra!
I see a lot of hawk players with Honda as a secondary.
Hondas Ultra 2 is trash and he plays completely different because he is a charge character.
Just play super street fighter 2 turbo T hawk. It’s super rewarding.
I found the style to be similar, even despite the charging. Do you think Honda’s U2 is any worse than hawks U1?
I’ve recently become as dedicated as ever to making Hawk work as a main, but I’m going in with the approach of “I’ll use him in the first match, if I get blown up, I’ll switch to my #2.”
Problem is, I’ve no idea who my number two should be. I want to play my “poke poke poke poke” game like I do with Hawk, but obviously without the crazy damaging grapple game. My gut tells me Cammy, Adon, Dan, and Gouken are the ones I’m most leaning toward. I feel like Gouken is a very under-appreciated character, Cammy and Adon can explode when they get an opening, and lol Dan.
Any thoughts?
They only feel similar because they both get zoned forever, but other than that Honda is very different.
T. Hawks U1 is not bad, it is really good. Hondas U2 is MUCH worse. If you want to know why, just compare frame data of these two moves. I can’t tell you the exact numbers, since I don’t have them in mind right now, but Hondas U2 is SLOWER in startup (U1 of T. Hawk is 1f -> instant) so escaping it is even easier AND it has MUCH WORSE range (about the same as a normal throw, lol) than T. Hawks U1. Oh and it doesn’t deal as much damage as T. Hawks U1 either.
Just play Seth, Lol.
Seth is basiclly a better T.Hawk. What you lose in Footsies and health you gain in better Oki, Priority, Defensive options, Combos, and space control all things T.Hawk really lacks.
I don’t think switching to a new character is going to make anything easier for you as a player but from a character to character basis it helps.
Playing other characters usually helps reinforce how you should aproach your main.
Blanka is alot of fun to play also…
waits to be burned alive
My friend is a Blanka player, he showed me a few tricks to get me going with Blanka as a secondary character to play and I have been having fun with him.
Hey could you elaborate on that please? How playing other characters can help to reinforce how you approach your main?
I think he was meaning when you play the other characters you learn their setups, where they want to be on screen, more about the characters moves etc so you know what to look for and how their moves get countered etc this also allows you to position yourself against them better, ie get into areas of the screen where they cant do what they want to do. Like I do pretty good against Cammy and Adon because they were characters I mained before switching to THawk, I know what to expect from them more than I do against say Hakan which I have barely played or played against.
