Replacement buttons for a TE2 fightstick

Does anyone know what kind of buttons the Madcatz TE2 fightstick (ps3/ps4) use? Some of my buttons are broke and i want to replace them

Sanwa OBSF 30. Are they actually broken as in cracked plastic, or are they just not working correctly? If it’s the latter, you can save some money by replacing the Sanwa SW-68 microswitches.

The clips on the side that hold them in are broken so they are loose and not staying in

http://www.focusattack.com/sanwa-obsc-30mm-translucent-pushbutton-blue/. Will these fit in as well?

Yep, those will work. Be careful installing, Sanwa translucent button tabs are notoriously brittle.

They’re terrible! I will never use Sanwa translucent buttons again, after breaking almost every tab when removing a set from a stick.

If thats the case what kind of translucent buttons would you recommend?

Seimitsu PS-14-KNs or Gamerfinger HBFS-G2s

The feel of the buttons will differ between brands so you will want to try out the seimitsus and gamerfingers before your fully commit on them. Especially on the game finger buttons since they are pretty expensive per piece.

I got a question what are the differences between this http://www.focusattack.com/seimitsu-ps-14-kn-30mm-screw-button-blue/
and this http://www.focusattack.com/seimitsu-ps14-k-30mm-snap-in-pushbutton-blue. I have little to no knowledge of customizing buttons

PS-14-KNs have screw-on mounting. PS-14-Ks have snap-on mounting. The screw ins are superior in that the mounting mechanism (i.e. the mounting nut) is replaceable if it breaks, while the mounting mechanism on snap ins (i.e. the flaps/wings/whatever you want to call them), should they break, require an entirely new button to replace. In addition, screw in buttons can accommodate multiple thicknesses for the top panel.

Now, I did also recommend HBFS-G2, and those are snap in buttons, but the plastic on them is tough. It’s a lot harder to break them compared to a Sanwa snap in button (almost to the point that installing and uninstalling them from a control panel can be a bit of a pain), which is why I can still recommend them.

It’s a screw-in button vs a snap-in button. Screw-in buttons are threaded and have a plastic “bolt” to hold the button into the joystick. Snap-ins use the plastic tabs to hold the button in place.

For me, after breaking the tabs on those buttons, I bought a set of Seimitsu screw-ins. I felt it was worth giving them a shot, plus I have read that I can swap in Sanwa microswitches, which I now have an extra set of, thanks to their shitty plastic.

The only downside that I have seen to screw-ins, is that on some sticks there is not enough room between the button and the joystick for the lock ring.

  1. Take pliers
  2. Grab portion of mounting bracket that’s getting in the way with pliers
  3. Bend gripped portion of mounting bracket away from control panel
  4. ???
  5. Profit

Sometimes I take pliers and hold the screw of the screw-in with a flat head screwdriver then turn the microswitch with the pliers to tighten it so the whole button turns but the screw in nut doesn’t move, works for me.

how hard is it to put PS-14-KNs into a Te2 fightstick? Cause im not looking for buttons i need to use pliers and other stuff and what not.

Screw in buttons can fit in all button holes in the TE2 except for the Light Kick button which is too close to the mounting bracket. For that one button you’ll need to either use pliers to bend the mounting bracket or have one single snap in.

Just buy clear snap-in Sanwas but if you change your buttons a lot the tabs will probably break like the Sanwas that come with the TE2’s that feel almost as brittle as clear Sanwas.
If you plan to play with them for the life of the microswitch then it will be fine. I’ve removed clear Sanwas before they didn’t break any less than Sanwas that came with all of my Mad Catz sticks.

I got another question. Does anyone know where i can order arcade buttons besides Focus attack and Paradise arcade? Both sites are sold out of Black Translucent buttons

Akishop.jp, Canadianjoysticks.com, Arcadeshock, Jasen’s Customs. Just to name a few.

I think im just going to end up with these http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/sanwa-obsc-30/475-sanwa-obsc-30-cs.html. I wasnt able to find Translucent black ps-14kns that werent screw in’s and the two sites that offered snap-in’s were sold out. If anyone knows a site that has them in stock it would be much appreciated if not ill just go with the above
