GG’s everyone, Danny don’t worry man you can do better next time, the agony of defeat is hard sometimes I know because I feel that way right now because of CBK knocking me out of winners and losers, good job, your gief has given me lots of grief this week but hopefully different next time. I was also worried of facing Jose and Cameron but didn’t meet any of you in the brackets.
Cool that Cameron and JC showed up, Cameron did a good job with T. Hawk and won the tourney with him almost exclusively , GG’s everyone else I played and Chris almost got me first round, so good job.
I feel bad I don’t get to play as much and don’t have a system but I’m real busy with work and other hobbies right now (working out, gardening-spinach is growing good) but it has been a real pleasure to put aside some of the negative aspects in my life that have troubled me greatly in the past and be able to make it to koogyz these last few wednesday’s and compete and hang out with you guys. So I hope to see you next week. Good job

Why are days so short?
So much things to do, so little time…
Well, yesterday showed my consistency with set ups and combos were atrocious.
Good matches though to everybody, good to see a big turnout.

im still sticking with guy no matter how bad he sucks i decided. I shoudlve been in the tournament, but driving from tahoe right after finishing my workout and getting something to eat is kinda time consuming. Ill see you guys next wednesday hopefully or maybe sooner.

Danny is still the best player in Reno. Losing in a tournament because of nerves doesn’t disqualify that. I know I can help you become more consistant and solid. Faith still be thar.

@ Chris Campbell - Yeah, thanks man. Losing definitely sucks! Looking back on our match there were so many things I forgot to use against you, I don’t know what I was thinking! But you definitely out-played me anyway, read me like a book!

Self Critique - I become even more defensive and conservative in tournament play… This worked out really well for me in Smash Bros. Brawl, but when I’m forced to approach I get flustered and do stupid stuff like too many jump-ins. Also, I second guess myself a lot in tournament. There were so many times I could have wake-up SPD’d but I missed the chances because I wasn’t confident enough that it would hit. I take even less risks in tournament. Tips/Pointers? (Other than to grow a pair lol)
well, if you play zangief, you need to take risks to deal damage sometimes. so what if you get tripped or hit 3 times, you land one fierce SPD and you are equal.
high vitality = more leverage to take risk
high damage = more opportunities to reset the match in your favor
again, you need to either quit zangief, or learn how to play offensively.
Yeah to me it really sounds like you should use Chun.
@cameron- I agree with you I still think danny is the strongest player in Reno, and I know he’s going to show it soon. I’m going to train my ass off so he doesn’t leave me behind, it’s going to be though to say the least. Good job beating me, I’m going to make sure I don’t let you shake my game again like you did when you switched to Honda.
@Danny- you have a great ability to read and pick up patterns quickly, as far as Zangief goes I think you can still play him, but your chun is so good to read and punish and her new style fits you very well. And while I think you have the best chance to grow as a player and become an amazing player, don’t think for a second I’m going to take a back seat. I’m going to race you to the top and I’m going to fight you when we get up there!
@everyone at the tournament- Good games it was fun playing you all, it shows me where I stand. And I hope you all decide to practice up so next tournament we perform better and better. I know I have a lot of things I need to work on, working on my lariat timing, integrating the new Ultra into Giefs game. Need to work on my Gouken and Fuerte to make them strong secondaries.
I’ve come to realise that if someone wants to really be seriously competitive with Chun, you need the more advanced stuff. cr.fp into Lightning Legs combos (linked into the sweep ideally at the end), st.mp cancelled into EX legs as a focus breaker, or at the very least the jap to st.fierce combos. So take that as you will.
In terms of not going on stupid offense? Sometimes you have got to realise, look, there are 30 seconds left. Plenty of time. Walk forward, and look for openings. I would argue not to try and force them. Say you are on 20% and the other guy is on 50%. Well, you managed to take 50% off him, so have faith in yourself that you can find an opening to do some damage again (without going in all guns blazing).
Anyway, my Ibuki time is growing. Anti air, cross up command dash into command throw… that combos? Oh. So tasty. Anyway hopefully next week I can show up and see how she stacks up!
