Haha, this was a lot of fun. I’m glad I ended up signing up for the Danisen last minute. =) And I feel like I got a little better. Thanks guys!

That was great you guys looking forward to next week.

I’ll post up current rankings once I get revived with an electrical shock.

yeah last night was hella awesome. I look forward to next week and hopefully ranking up next week

Sorry I couldn’t be there to host yesterday.

Hawaii is sunny and happy

I am glad everyone has been having fun.

I just started practicing Litchi… yeah I brought my ps3 to hawaii…

Man I will rep both ends of the scale because BB is that hype!

Thanks to everyone that brought food/snacks/plates/cups you guys are awesome. I was also happy to see Melty Blood being played for a bit.

The weekend was crazy.

It was nice playing everyone in BB and stuff… So tired zzzzzz

If we are to get serious at BB we need at least one Bang and Arakune.

At LEAST!!!

Why no one has picked up Bang yet is beyond me.

I agree, Scamp. We need someone to take the dive on Arakune for sure. I don’t like to throw the “cheap” word around, but that guy is CHEAP. D:<

Cheap?!

That’s my character. >D

I might just need to get the game.

Koogy get in touch with me. I need info on that monitor and my roommate wants a card for the danizen.

I greatly enjoyed last night, even getting my ass handed to me repeatedly in blazblue! So here’s my thoughts on the danisen system:

I think rank up/down, should be based on momentum, not accumulation. So, three straights wins, you’re up, three straight losses, you’re down. Any reversal of momentum will reset you to zero. So if you have two losses, and you win, you’re back to zero. Two wins and you lose? Back to zero. Yes, you may flounder about in the same rank a lot, but if thats the case, then its only reflecting your true skill. If you can’t win consistently, then you’re not playing safe/smart enough. At base rank, no losses should count against you, at least this way you can make it out of base rank, consider it the “white belt” of danisen.

So, since we have players of different skill levels, I think its important to take note of that, and because of that, the rules should change when you’re playing outside of your skill level. When playing an opponent 3 or more ranks higher than you, a loss will not count against you. Why? Because when you’re taking on an opponent that much higher than you, you pretty much expect to lose. But if you win? It pays off double. This opens up the avenue for hungry players to level up quick by taking on the toughest competition they can. Say you’re on the opposite end? A low ranked player challenges you for a match, what happens? Same thing, but in reverse, loss will count for double, and a win won’t count at all. This curtails abuse by ranking up on lower level players. and a double penalty for a loss, so that you never underestimate your opponent and always play your strongest game.

So what does this all mean? It means that people will reach their relative skill level, then plateau. To rank up, they need to do well against their peers, or their betters, and to rank down they need to be off their game. This also means its quite possible for higher level players to top out at a low level dan like 7 or 8, because they lack competition on their level to collect wins against. This also happens in real life, you can’t improve, unless you’re playing better opponents. So then what? Well, you teach the lower levels how to improve and catch up, so you can kick their butts some more and rank up yourself! This encourages the ENTIRE scene and crew to grow together cause we all want high ranks, right? If you just kick ass without giving back, then you’re not gonna go any higher, and neither will the people you play with. Similarly, if you play around without learning anything, you’re never go past a certain point. I think the goal is to improve the skill level and foster our scene, so lets not reward people for exploiting lesser skilled opponents, or give lesser skilled players high ranks because they managed a 60% win ratio (on an accumulation system, if you consistently win 2, lose 1, a player will eventually attain 10th dan, without ever having to evolve their game).

Those are just my thoughts, anybody else?

Oh, I forgot, despite whatever rank your opponent is, its still arcade rules! If you win, you stay, you lose, you’re off!

Edit: After thinking about it, I realized I could have just edited that in, it didn’t need a separate post. Too used to other boards without edit buttons… :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree completely, that’s the sort of incentive that will keep the baby dan players like me in there

im alive!??! koogy i expect special rank cards for me noob :DD i need my fei long/seth and maybe a balrog/ryu/akuma card. also perhaps a tao card and maybe bang as well.

and again no more interwebs for jose, for a while ;_;

also im willing to go on saturdays but the real problem is i dont want to risk being late for work, most of you guys know i work late nights aka graveyard. and if possible if i do come over i would need a ride at least to the meadowood mall to catch the bus from there. otherwise its a no go on me for saturday since i dont want to risk my job from being late to my work. sorry but getting paid > game :[[
