If you think the tourney was awesome, please refer to Rob’s rant. I personally felt that way towards the tourney. Brackets looked messy and how it was ran wasn’t up to par on how we held ours before. You run winners and losers back and forth. That’s how a tourney is suppose to run, not run the winners then run the losers. You’ll make the losers cold when they play and end up getting eliminated. If you guys think it was awesome that’s fine. I just didn’t like how it ran. Again, like I have said from my other post, we’ll get the excuse of “it’s the first time”. First time is first time, but this isn’t the first time you joined a tourney. You know how you feel if you don’t get to play for 5 mins after lossing your first. It’s not a good experience.

I said the tournament was a technical failure, but I also said I had a lot of fun. I’d drop $5 every weekend if it meant we’d get that many people in there. We had a lot of new players on GGXX and a lot of everyone at CvS2…after everybody left there were like 4 other guys playing CvS2 that didn’t even enter the tourny. This was our most successful recent tourny because it had huge drawing power. That guy David said he’d be showing up a lot of often too. He might still be learning, but that’s one more decent local player who can consistantly show up.
I’ll still make sure to address all your concerns at the meeting and make sure that the mighty “Staff of Atlantis” hears a reasonable arguement on our behalf for why everyone is so upset.
I can’t wait for the next tourny when I unleash my new and improved Blanka, now with more turtling!
How to Improve for the Next Tourney:

Get a Real Double Elim bracket. I think I still have mine that was laminated that Im willing to donate.

Tourney should be ran Winner and Loser back and forth not Winner all the way to the finals then losers all the ways to the finals… this makes those that lost cold and not really prepared to go back into a tourney sense.

Location was fine… The only I think I can suggest would be to be aware of the glare that was coming from the windows behind it… During practice it was really hard to keep track of my life bar since the sun directly glared from it…

Prize Money: IMO Atlantis should not touch the pot at all… The reason being is that Atlantis is already making money in four ways: 1. Pay to Play in the tourney… each game of the tourney they are making $0.50 per game. 2. Since the Atlantis is hosting tournaments… this will encourage players to play at the Atlantis more to practice up for the tournament… which means higher turnouts on weekends, holidays, etc… 3. Atlantis is also making money before and after the tourney as players are practicing and after for some grudge matches… 4. While the tourney is going on… players will also be playing other games as they wait their turn to play in the tourney… because of those reasons… there should be no reason to take any money off the pot…

Tourney Coordinator… this a job of passion a way to encourage the scene… this is not a way to make money regardless of how little it may be… If the Atlantis wants to accommodate the coordinator with free food and drinks that is fine… but again the entry free for the tourney should be left alone.

Problems with the games… This is something that needs to be taken care of before the tourney… gamers meeting should not only be the place to see if there is anything wrong with games… since not everyone can attend these meetings… and since management is sponsoring these event… they should take the initiative too get to know the players and ask for any suggestions in ways to improve the quality of gaming… Why? Well one person can only remember so much… if u have ten players available to give input, you are more likely to solve more problems than expect one or two individual to remember all the problems of 10 other players…

Not accepting a half ass job… I realize that this isnt a huge deal… but to the gamers it is… and by accepting only something half ass… it really does insult the gamers… maybe I expect a lot from these tournaments, but thats because Ive devoted a lot time and energy into the scene in the past 15 years that Ive been playing competitive gaming, so when I go to these events I truly hope to experience something special.

Lastly having a tech availably. I realize this may be hard but if this is something that the Atlantis is sponsoring then having a tech available is important as problems can and will arise. Being able to resolve these problems immediately is important in making the tourney a success.
Finally I dont want people to read this post as another rant. This is meant to suggest improvements that can easily be done to make the tourney experience even better. I am thankful that the Atlantis has taken an interest in improving their arcade and an interest for the gamers by setting up Monthly tournaments, for this and many other games to come. I look forward to these improvements being implemented before the next monthly event.
Again if you would like to personally get a hold of me since I am unable to attend these mid-week meetings JC does have my cell phone # and the management of Atlantis can discuss with me on any other suggestions I may have to improve future tournaments.

Alright me Chambers and Luke all went and played tonight to get a bit of practice in for the next tourney (cuz me and Luke thought we played like shit). But anyways the game is really f***in freakin out. not only is it short but now it is fierce.
And Rob I think everything stated seemed to be in a tactful way…constructive criticism.
And when are these meetings? Wednesday at what time? I’m going to Sac (not for CVS2, but car stuff) and I want to be able to have some input and listen in to what’s going on.

The reasoning behind my decision is my job. i came to Nevada to work with my grandfather and thats not happening. so ill be going back.
its been a total pleasure hanging out with you guys. ive learned sooooo much in fighting games within the last 8 months, and i owe it ALL to you guys. Your love and knowledge for these games is just outstanding. Thank You ALL.
