I’m going to be playing ST regularly as well, so if peope really want to switch out CvS2 with ST, it would probably give everyone [sans Rob] a clean chance of taking it… assuming they take up the game as well.

Unless there’s even a following to either, would it even matter which one is up?? Both are great, but are you willing to give the time and effort to learn both?? That’s the thing. If you know how to play them (correctly mind you), then you wouldn’t mind either. They’re both SF style, and given chance, both are great in their own right.
ST, though the tourney is fast, requires you to actually know wtf you’re doing. It’s not just knowing how to throw a fireball, doing a damn move, or even pulling off a damn super. Learning the character matchups, which character favors over one another or what not. That will help each and everyone out, if everyone takes this into consideration and start learning the game correctly. Not just learning O.Sagat, Dhally, Honda, or Ryu. If everyone starts doing that, you guys will start helping each other out. Until then, if everyone just picks O.Sagat, you won’t have any experience with a really good Dhally, or better yet a better player that beats you with Balrog or even Ryu. Knowing character match-ups in this game is a must.
CvS2, lol, it’s not just about RC’s anymore. Learning when to be defensive, when to be offensive, what advantages a groove has over another, and literally taking up the time and learning what every groove is capable. You know RC’s there, so why take the chance on pulling off something stupid at the end of a match?? Realizing this, will up your game even higher than what it is. But of course you have to learn how to RC correctly and using it “correctly”. Throws here whiffs, and they’re not 1 frame gay throws mind you. So you also have to take that into consideration. There’s no roman-cancels in this game, so if you whiff a move, you’re screwed. Learn how to punish people, if someone whiffs any attack, you punish them with the most damage you’ll do. But of course, try to stop yourself from being fancy as well.

Starting September 5th, 2005, We’ll be holding #R (100%), T5, CvS2 and 3s(if we have enough interest for cvs2/3s) weekly tournaments to train ourselves for EVO and other yearly tournaments! Everyone is welcome to enter as long as I know who is coming and whatnot.

$5 entry, SINGLE ELIMINATION, SINGLE GAME. JAPANESE FORMAT ONLY! Winner takes 80%, 2nd takes 20%. 3RD GETS A CAN OF SPRITE.
IF WE GET UNDER 8 PEOPLE, WE WILL HOLD A ROUND ROBIN WITH THE SAME RULES, ONE GAME.

A: Because by risking everything in one game, it builds insane amount of tournament experience / conditioning. By starting early, people who are regularly used to one game single elimination can naturally play better in any tournament enviroment (or something like that @__@)

Might I make a suggestion for the single elim. tournament? Tell me what you nekoz think. Tanaka and I did this once for a tournament and it was really fun.
Basically, everything is still Japanese style, single-elim. one game format, but all the people play a round robin to qualify into a four man, single-elim. bracket. Top four players of the RR get to play in the four man bracket to play for the finals. Whomever loses the first bracket (aka tied for 4th place) play each other for a battle for 3rd place.

I’ll come if I have the 5th (and hopefully the 4th) off… though how often I actually come up to Reno depends on many factors: school, work, and rape gas prices. Seriously. Gas has gone up so high I don’t even want to drive to and from work/school anymore. I filled up last monday (the day we got back from Vegas) and I’m already down 1/4 tank left of gas.
Hopefully, if I come up, I can bring at least 3 other people to help pay for the rape gas prices. ;___;
