Remora Official Thread - RGB LED control for MadCatz FightSticks

Your second sentence scares me. It sounds like you meant “I soldered a POWER wire for POWER” but i just wanted to be sure you didnt solder a wire from ground to power.

For the buttons to work normally, you need to rewire the buttons to line up with the pinout for a 360 TES. The ps3 and 360 sticks are not 1:1. I made an image a few pages back, look for it.

Here it is:

I did mean power to power, sorry for the mix up.

Thanks, I’ll use this for reference to finish up the job!

[s]Hi guys, im sorry for bumping this thread up again

I’ve got a few questions,

Is Toodles still around? cuz i’ve checked his posts, his last one was dec 2012, so was his twitter, and he hasn’t responded to emails

which leads to the second question, If I buy stuff from http://godlikecontrols.com/ will they still ship? or is toodles the only person operating the site, if not, where else could I get the Remora and ArcEye3?

and the 3rd question is, will remora work with my Qanba Q4? since it works for both 360 and xbox, and I’ve got all the clear sanwa buttons, if remora does not work, are there any other RGB led choices? or do I have to use KNsert?

Thanks[/s]

apparently toodles replied my email just today

so the question is, has any one installed remora into a qanba before?~

It should just be a matter of soldering ground, power, and signals to the buttons. qanba is common ground as well.

thanks for the tip, imma wait for the stuff to arrive, then try it out

[s]Just got my Remora via mail

but http://godlikecontrols.com/download/remorainstall.pdf

this link does not exist

so where am I able to find the install pdf?

since I am installing on to my Qanba Q4

which of the pins for TES_CN2, TES_CN1,TE_CN2, TE_CN1 fits my A, B, X, Y, up, down, left, right? since I think I will need to solder every wire in individually

thanks[/s]

I have found the diagrams on soldering which pin to which, but qanba has a gnd pin for every button, do i solder all the gnd on every button via one pin on the remora?

The installation link goes to a 404 page. I just received the Remora and ArcEyes and now am having to slow way down to make sure I can get this right. Anyone know of a place I could download what the instructions were?

I’m also trying to figure out which of the 4 wires are for Start and Back…

just test in a game… lol

I can’t find the install pdf either, but basically as long as you wire VCC correctly the rest can be trial and error. you wont mess up the LEDs by plugging them in backwards. all of the buttons are labeled so connect them to their respective buttons.

What kind of stick are you using? if your lock switch locks out start/select AND home, you will need to cut the trace carefully in the spot marked TES_SGND (i think, it’s next to CN2)

As far as start/select, the 2 wires on the side marked START are for start, same for SELECT. AGain, you can test in a game. Same with the rest of the buttons.

Thanks for the advice Vicko.

I searched out a picture for most of the issues and followed traces on the board for the rest. I was mainly worried about shorting across the non-ground leads for start and back. Saw the center two leads were sharing a trace - meaning they are ground. Turns out the silk-screened labels are on the correct sides of that connector too. He makes a quality product for sure.

Summed up, all working now. I have the older red/black TE so it does not do the lock trick. Uses the inner set of connectors because it is missing the lock pin/lead. Now to figure out now to set it up the way I want it

Hey guys, I was wondering if this would work to connect to the Remora board for easily connecting to MC Cthulhu board? Thanks in advance for the wonderful work you guys do.

You can just solder to the underside of the board rather than use JSTs
but yes, those will work (you only need 2x 6 pins)

Thanks Vicko. I ended up soldering to the underside of the board like you mentioned. I might go with the JSTs next time, but this was the quickest option. Appreciate your response.

I made a video to show how to use the quick button functions on the remora. I’ll do the setup menu and the favorite colors next.

Looks good.

Gotta say, all this Kaimana talk just made me want to get a Remora. But I’m probably gonna get the clear OBS plungers from Paradise Arcade anyway…

They both have their pros and cons. What don’t you like about the kaimana?

I’m sure the Kaimana is fine, but isn’t that more for sticks with PS360+?

The Remora, just like the TE Kitty, looks like it’s specifically for my stick. And I’m always happy to support Toodles… heck I got the T-SLG and I’ll probably be picking up the rest of his catalog eventually…

Kaimana can support almost any stick, The Remora was intended for Mad Catz sticks but with some clever wiring you can use it on many other sticks.

Any diagrams on how to install the Remora LED board to a PS360+?
