Just installed a Remora for a friend (in a 360 SE stick previously modded with a TeasyStrike, using ArcEye3’s). Whole thing installed and worked like a charm – all buttons check out, light up appropriately. The only problem is getting into the Favorite Color settings – I’ve got it in program mode just fine (can cycle through the patterns, etc.), but no amount of pressing/holding/whispering sweet nothings to the Back/Select button seems to be having any effect. Am I missing something? Other than that, great product (as usual, Toodles :P) and he’s very happy. Just want to get the thing working to its fullest. Thanks in advance.
I dont think so. That being said, if your on a 360 stick, it’s fairly straightforward. If on PS3, you’ll have to do a few modifications, but even then, its of minor difficulty. Need helps?
Shouldn’t be too hard, the worst would be soldering. Just run a wire for power from the remora to any 5v point. Then if you have any spare TE connectors you could put those on the terminals on the remora and solder them to the corresponding signal points on either the cerebrus or hori PCB. If you dont you could make your own connector (32 teeth posted somewhere on here or the Arc Eye 3 thread where to buy the parts) or just solder wires from the button signal points to the underside of the board at the points corresponding to the labled TE Terminal spots (Easier said than done, but still manageable)
Just use the guide picture:
Cheers Pnoy, thats very kind of you
Luckily, I have a dead 360 brawlstick so I’ll steal the harness from that, plug them in to the remora and solder the other points onto the cerberus.
Would you happen to know if that would be enough to get connection from both pcbs to the remora or will I need a set of wires from cerberus and another from hori pcb going to remora?
The wires that come out of the hori PCB to the buttons are gonna get soldered to the underside of the cerberus. The harness from madcatz will get plugged into remora’s TE slots and those wires will get soldered to cerberus top side then remora’s harness will get plugged into the AE3s and buttons (hope this makes sense lol)
As long as the wires for the TE harness is soldered to the correct points on the top face that sounds right. You could also opt to solder them all to the bottom face and shave off the rest of the PCB with a dremel if you want to make it more compact of a setup.
I’m not confident enough in my soldering ability. They all seem to close together. Anyway, plenty of room in this beast to mount the full size cerberus
Thanks again!
So is it fairly safe to assume that the Remora is kind of dead at this point? I see some posts asking about restocks from months ago, but no responses or updates.
I asked Toodles about this at EVO. He wants to get a reprint of the boards, but he’s gone through a whole lot of shit over the past year that’s kept him otherwise occupied from projects. He’s working on it, but at this time it’s a “It’s done when it’s done” kind of thing.
So no, not dead… just postponed for an indeterminate point of time.
Thank you greatly for the intel! I will also await patiently with the wonderful knowledge that it’s not KIA. I hope Toodles has less strife in the future so he can have more of my money.
It’s restocked and I ordered one!
However in the instructions I received there’s a link where it says there will be instructions and I didn’t find any instructions at that link!
