The team that I have right now is, Dante/Frank on point, Dante/Frank second, Vergil. Dante and Frank can be interchanged but Vergil is going to be a sick ass anchor. I feel Frank and the Sparda brothers are going to have lots of synergy, what do you guys think?

I’m running Vergil(Judgment Cut), Super Skrull(Orbital Grudge), Doom(Plasma Beam). Besides Vergil the team has nice vitality.
Vergil - Plasma Beam provides safe Trick and Rapid Slash mixups. Orbital Grudge provides pressure/gtfo.
Skrull - Using Normal and DT Judgment Cut as lockdown like Dark Hole, also might cover j. d+H. Vergil also provides a safe dhc from inferno (can’t wait to catch op and their assist w/ meteor smash+inferno dhc dimension slash:badboy:) Plasma Beam provides safe meteor smash crossups. Any thoughts?
Does Vergil work well with Nova or Strange? I liked those two characters but can’t think of teams to put them in.
Vergil and Morrigan for BFF/ Cutest Couple. Taunt + Dark Harmonizer. Meter gain nerf? Wut?
Any suggestions for a 3rd character I can use for the above pairing? I know I need an assist to help with covering my approach but i’m drawing a blank. I wasn’t a fan of any beam characters in Vanilla =\
Yea I’m thinking the same thing. With Dante on point instead of a beam assist I’m going to try and use Vergil’s full screen slash assist and see if I’m able to combo off of it with a teleport and catch the opponent in mid-air with H, I doubt it but we’ll see. Lets keep each other updated to see whats the best options for this team.
I’ve got Taskmaster and Vergil confirmed so far. Task’s arrows will provide a good assist for Vergil’s teleport mixup, and Vergil’s Judgment Cut or Rapid Slash can hopefully help Taskmaster extend combos. The main doubt I’m having is that I think they both might need an OTG assist to work well. Primarily Taskmaster, since he no longer gets his OTG Arrow lift technical combos. Is trish a good place for third? I think she has synergy with unblockables with both Vergil and Taskmaster, but none of them have OTG assists as far as I know, so I’m still uncertain.

I’m going to settle on either Dorm/Vergil/Doom or Strange/Vergil/Doom, not sure whose going to be the more effective point character, I’ll probably start with Dorm considering it’ll be much easier to learn one new character at a time as opposed to two. Left/Rights for DAYS either way though (god I love Plasma Beam lol)
Imo you should run Hadangeki instead of Ryuenjin. Both Vergil and Dante anti very well as is so you don’t need an AA assist for them, and even though Ryuenjin gives Dante some neat combo extensions, having a projectile assist AT ALL has a much larger benefit for him.
Does Vergil have a raw tag setup?
For that matter, what are the properties on Vergil’s specials (groundbounces, wallbounces, hard/soft knockdown, set hitstun, ect). I noticed that round trip can be used really late in combos, implying it has set hitstun (or at least A LOT of hitstun), and I want to know what other things Vergil has up his sleave.
So I guess my main questions would have to be.
Does Starfall cause hard knockdown in addition to groundbounce?
Does Lunar phase cause hard knockdown in addition to groundbounce? (hey, capcom screws up sometimes :p)
How long does it take Round Trip to charge?
My day 1 team will be Zero (a) / Vergil (y) / Doom (a). I’m wondering whether y is the best choice for Vergil with this team; any insight from people who’ve already played the game? Also does anyone know whether Rekkoha --> Devil Trigger works really well together?

Any sword normal that is unsheathed absorbs projectiles (ala Sentinel/Dorm). s.H or s.S will absorb Ryu hadoken no problem. Which makes him like a faster Sentinel, teleport enabled Sentinel in the mid range.

Hah, you know what they say right? Great minds think alike. But yeah, Dormammu was one of the first characters I ever fully “learned” so he’s always been on all my teams.
And yeah, sharing that meter would really be tight since Dormammu (at least how I play him) love to toss out as many balls as possible and that would be a waste for Vergil if that happens. I was thinking of having him as a “back up” if Wesker and Vergil die though, so meter wouldn’t be much of an issue since, if I am losing those two I probably am not using a lot of meters anyways. Basically treat him like a dark Phoenix that doesn’t rely on a full five meters since he has his own mixups with the new finger shot canceling and does beastly damage/chip in XF3. I suppose I would fight with Albert and Vergil and try to do as much damage as possible with them before bringing in Mr. Flamehead to finish the rest of my opponent’s team off.
Starting Vergil might be a good idea to build up a couple meters then go into Devil Trigger and DHC out. DevilJin had a good post somewhere that said how godlike his assists become when in that mode (full screen tatsu+berderper slash?! MVC2 Invulnerability for Rising Sun after startup?!). So I am thinking of running the team order as Vergil/Wesker/Dorm and get him out asap in DT so Wesker can come in and start building those meters for later on.
The only problem I have right now is choosing which assist for Vergil to use. Samurai Edge and Dark Hole for Wesker and Dormammu are good enough but I am banking on either Berderper Slash or Judgement Cut for Vergin (although the latter might be a little redundant…acting as another Dark Hole essentially). I guess I’ll have to experiment around once I get my hand on the game at the midnight release tonight.
Good tip for Wesker/Dorm: If you want to run Dormammu with his Liberation assist, a Maximum Wesker into Stalking Flare allows you to get three spells off and tag out. I personally don’t do it but Airborne does essentially the same trick with Spidey and Dorm. It’s a pretty underrated assist that can easily be charged up again with the use of two meters (which you should get in no time with Wesker, even with the changes). Just Tech For Thought I guess.
Vergil and Frank West is sounding really amazing right now. Since Maximum Vergil leaves the opponent in a hard knockdown, a THC to a full level 5 Frank could be possible.

Well, it takes a lot of meter, since Vergil and C. Viper both need it. Could work though since Zero’s an excellent battery. I would start off with Zero on point, build up meter, and probably use Vergil as an Anchor. Viper can build her own meter in the second position. You could also start with Vergil, Devil Trigger, and DHC for his powered up assists. Just a couple ideas off the top of my head. Not very familiar with their assists.
Vergil (going to experiment with Judgement cut as an assist) Dante (Guns) and The good ol Tried and true robot with his 3 little friends is a team I intend to run HARD this week. Its a fairly tried and true (Dante/Sentinel) team with Vergil replacing Magneto
I agree about the meter problems this team is going to have, and I think the problem with starting Zero as a battery is that he bleeds, so if you lose him early on, you’ve got a problem. If you are going to go with a battery starter for Viper and Vergil, Wesker might be a better choice because he can take more of a punch, or if you really wanted to get funky, you could do something like starting Viper with Vergil second and an assist like Morrigan’s Dark Harmonizer in the back. If you are Flocker good with Zero, though, discard all of that :).
I like viper/Vergil/Dante alot. So far viper/Vergil have some good synergy. Amazing punishment opportunities with emergency combination. Can easily blow through just about everything and DHC into DT for full combos…I was easily getting around 700k off reaction to enemies random beam hypers. Now that I think about it I might be able to TAC back into viper and get Vergil some meter while he is in DT on the bench
With viper: MHS, Mthunder knuckle (feint on hit) MHS, seismo, box loop, MHS+rapid slash, Mthunder knuckle, jH, djH, S EX burn kicks, S, jH, jH, jS, Jam session ender does like 800k and builds about 1.3 meters. (I’m sure we’ll find away to relaunch w/o EX BK)
Doing ground block strings with BKs are safe with rapid slash and leads Mto easy hit confirm combos on hit. Also rapid slash makes it really hard to see what viper is doing when up close.
With Vergil: I have not had stinger+BK xx teleport behind get blocked or punished yet(the BK still hits them if mashing)…can lead to nice damage if u can follow up on hit. The long reach of BK assist makes the mixup possible from some retarded ranges.
Activate DT and DHC to viper saved my ass quite a few times…like after blocked up kicks into trick down into DT
Edit: forgot to mention the most important thing! Costume synergy is off the charts…reds, blues, purples. Takes me like 5 minutes to “get dressed” at select screen
