Vergil’s solo damage isn’t broken, it’s just fair, he can TOD on touch a long with a bunch of other chars in the game, there’s very little benefit to him being point. Tons of chars with the right assists are lethal. Give me an example of why you think Vergil with assists is so overpowered? beam+teleport? yipes dante/vergil/mag team is all about that and even he doesnt put Vergil point.

In 2nd he turns every other char in the game into a TOD char and 3rd he’s one of, if not the best, anchor in the game.

Hello all! I’ve played vergil with several horizontal assists (hawk arrows, task arrows, disruptor, plasma beam, arthur daggers, drones, unibeam, yadda yadda). And my current team is wesker vergil taskmaster. My question is: what are some good tricks, tactics, gameplans, etc with task horizontal arrows? Just to show I’m not looking to be entirely spoonfed, here are some things I know so far:

  • call task, rapid slash allows for conversion without having to xx to an install super. (Big part of why I’m using this team)

  • per watching whiteblack, it appears that helm breaker xx M upon landing (tele behind) leads to some mixup potential

  • seems like arrows are a good suppliment to DT judgement cut chipping/zoning

  • the arrows seem too slow to get the same kind of normal + task xx M teleport crossup tricksyou get from, say, hawk arrows or disruptor.

  • I haven’t tested the exact timing, but id be surprised if sword summon, call task, df+H xx H doesn’t allow for conversion off a raw helm breaker.

So… all that said… would anyone mind sharing any additional tricks, tactics, strategies, mindsets, etc that I should know or do having task horizontal arrows at my disposal?? Thanks so much in advance!!

Killer Kai has a really nice combination of Vergil and Task, and there’s a lot of footage you can bite. There’s a Mexican player ( at least I think he’s Mexican ) named EM Taekua that plays Vergil point with task H arrows. He’s probably opened more people up with H arrows than anybody else out there except maybe combofiend, so you should try to find some footage of him. You’d also may wanna try asking the Task threads. The Vergil threads seem to be pretty sporadic.

How good is vergil backed by tatsu assist.

I’m thinking about picking up Joe May Cry. Specifically, the order would be Joe/Vergil/Dante. I’m very new to Vergil though, does the DHC to Spiral Swords still work well from mid screen, or is it only practical with point characters that corner carry? If so, how much damage can I expect from the Vergil combo? Thanks.

I’m curious about this as well for Task/Vergil/Akuma. I want some shenanigans that Vergil can do with tatsu assist specifically, or good things that it can make safe and convert from for instance (like shield skills for Task).

So what Vergil/strider tech is there to learn? I find vajra to be great space controller, but all I can seem to get is high timer into XFC or bubbles. I saw a vid where you can combo fully off vergil d+:h:, :a1:, dp+:h:~:h:, s.:L:, etc… is there a way to make it consistent? are their other confirms to learn with DT/swords maybe? Also strider/vergil tech?

I have no idea what that notation is supposed to be. Crouching H > Rapid Slash with H followup > s.L? :3

You can convert off a Helm Breaker, but the timing is tricky. I don’t use it. You may have Cap;s assist anyway, who lets you do the same with Shield Slash.

On incoming, I like to do: Throw RT, call Strider > teleport L or M > s.L or throw > either Rapid Slash or c.L or tick throw. Alternatively on incoming, charge RT > call Strider > meaty High Time > Trick Down. If it hits, High Time > XF, or set up lockdown with RT. If it is blocked, Rapid Slash or c.L or crossunder c.L or throw or RT or Swords or air grab.

Strider gives Vergil some of his scariest incoming mixups.

For combos, you can do:

blahblahblah used groundbounce…Stinger > teleport M > c.H + Strider > slight delay > s.S > jump-canceled RTG > c.H > Judgment Cut L > c.H (can omit, most likely part to drop) > swords

or

blah did not use groundbounce (Rapid Slash confirm)…Stinger > teleport M > s.H + Strider > s.S > jump-canceled RTG > c.H > c.H > s.SH > RT > c.H > Judgment Cut L > c.H > Swords

Hi guys. Has anyone tried to optimise the a spiral swords combo after Maximum spider dhc? I’d like to run Spidey/Vergil, but I can’t get kill combos off, say a spider sting starter, despite the fact that spiral sword dhc is supposed to be a damage engine.

Hey, I’m very late to the party, picking up Vergil to give some cheapness to my lowtier shite.

Deadpool/Vergil/Shuma, katanarama assist and mystic ray give me a lot of helm breaker pickups, and Shuma can rawtag into swordloops off most combos. Deadpool gets fullscreen push and fullscreen beam as assists, the zoning is mean.

Does anyone have some crazy Vergil/Shuma tech? I know a few things with the pair but am a terrible Vergil

Also, my contribution, personal favorite thing with the pair at the moment is rapid slash into swords st.HfH Teleport M cr.M round trip, tag Shuma, cr.MH Eyes, st.S MHS Tag Vergil, eyes explode, cr.H stinger anywhere on screen, teleport, cr.H SH round trip, continue into loops.

Been really hunting for a vergil point team. Thinking Vergil(rs)/Doom(beam)/Strider(vajra) is the way to go. Any players to look for with these shells? I feel this really covers a lot of match ups and I’m not seeing any critical flaws. I get full screen presence, incomings, pressure and trap strings, extensions, resets, TAC infinites, helm breaker conversion (swords, hightime + beam), Doom gets one of the few assists that can save him from his terrible match ups (hawkeye D: ).

I like Missiles on that team more, tbh, but yeah either way it’s very strong. Missiles gives extensions and makes meter build, damage, lockdown, RTG, and conversions all 20 times better. Probably the best, or one of the best, point Vergil teams. It’s a great team in general, with amazing synergy all around. Clockwork runs Doom/Vergil/Strider, and having played it for a while, it’s also fantastic. I can’t think of a situation where you’d want to start Doom over Vergil (he does it because he’s Clockwork duh), but even if that situation doesn’t exist, you can still DHC into Doom safely, or TAC infinite and stay in, and have a powerful team.

So, if you want matches to watch, I would say Clockwork for general team synergy, and Winrich’s old team (Vergil/Wesker/Strider) for specifically Vergil/Strider stuff. I think Padtrick ran/runs Vergil with Vajra too, could check him out. Vergil/Doom stuff is everywhere of course. Make sure to take advantage of raw tag tech with that team for dat optimization.

I think really I can just counter pick with doom assist. All 3 are legit for this team. I need to experiment with each. I like doom beam because it’s so hard to punish, much less even see because he stands way too far back. I normally like missiles, but I was sensing overlap with strider and thought maybe beam was a better option since i can snipe assists. I need to build a mental match up list to see when I want one over the other and when I might even want rocks (counters teleports pretty well…)

And yeah I think my order is better than clockwork’s, I think he just does that to relive MvC2. This team gives vergil enough lockdown to build his own meter on block and extend on hit, plus i can TAC to doom if I need more to kill and just build tons of meter. Also hard tag combos from vergil and strider to doom for meter and damage.

I have no idea why it took me so long to think of this team considering the common shell pairings. I need to get a legit Strider now… montage

I like Missiles, because with one bar you can shut the opponent down for a stupidly long time. I mean, just watch Chris G. He sometimes has Dark Harmonizer as well, but it’s still insane how few options you have when locked down with Missiles and Swords.

I can agree with Rocks too. Vergil gets Helm Breaker pickups with that too (meter-free IIRC).

Tested it online (ugh) and it’s legit. I definitely liked missiles more. I’m having issues making some of the missiles extensions consistent though. So easy to be slightly off time with how weird vergil’s multi hits can get. Team’s beastly though, I’m not seeing major match up weaknesses. Seems anytime im being pressured swords + missiles resets the situation and then i can use RT and both assists to great effect to control the entire screen. Doom with strider assist really fixes a lot of his bad MUs as well.

My helm breaker pick up is j.d+:h:, dash back slightly, df+:h: (OTG), :a1: (missiles), qcf+:atk::atk: (no mash), missiles hit (OTG), RT, c.:h:, qcf+:l:, c.:h:, f+:h:, qcb+:m:, :s::h:*~RT, [c.:h:, qcf+:l:, s.:h:+:a2: (vajra), :s:, u+RT,] c.:h:, qcf+:l:, c.:h:, sword loops, etc…

  • = RT glitch. You can confirm if you get it, if you miss just skip the " [ ] " section and use strider later on on the combo.

The pick up is a little inconsistent since Hyper bubbles is a bit random and can often hit with 1 extra bubble and force missiles to connect in air. Also timing and spacing the RT is a bit hard too, but it’s better than nothing.

What are consistent missiles extensions to look into? I’ve seen that one where it OTG’s on the way up then down, but I found it inconsistent (maybe i was doing it wrong)

Only Missiles extension you really need is s.S + Missiles > j.MMH > Helm Breaker > jump RT > s.H > Judgment Cut L > c.H > Stinger > qcb.M > c.HSH > RT > etc.

Another one, typically used when DHCing to Sword loops: [after loop] c.H > Stinger > RT > c.H + Missiles > dp.M > jump RT > s.H > Judgment Cut L > c.H > etc.

In both of these, connect the s.H late, so the RT hits immediately after and there’s no chance of popping out from HSD. Both super consistent.
