I think I’m gonna sell out. In some matchups I feel like it’s impossible to win without that All-State insurance, so I’m thinking about Doom ?/Ammy b/Vergil y. What do you guys think about this? Cold Star makes Rapid Slash safe in the corner and gives Vergil a relaunch off of High Time. Not sure what assist to use for Doom because I’m feeling all of them, even rocks.
Hey, shoutouts to shoutouts.
While there is the one video I posted a while back, I’ve re-optimized everything and improved leaps and bounds since then, as well as new tech out the ass.
I have a buddy coming over for matches later today, I’ll try to record some of the tech I’ve been using. As far as synergy goes, I have no problem accepting the salt of all of SRK when I say that MVD is probably one of, if not the best, synergized teams out there.
At any rate, keep your eyes peeled for some new videos hopefully this afternoon.
RT glitch is great for neutral, but I’d love to see what you’re doing for combos. I saw a video earlier that supposedly was using RT glitch in a combo, but it wasn’t anything special. In fact, I’m rather certain the combo in that video can be easily done without glitching at all. I would love to be proven wrong and see some godlike tech, I just don’t feel that the glitch is anything special when it comes to combos.
Tons of them. But none are quite as fun as throwing on DT and chipping the fuck out of someone with judgement orbs >=)
Here’s the video I said I was going to get up a week ago XD My go-to BnBs for Mag Vergil Doom in different orders, as well as a little bit of tech thrown in. Hope you enjoy it, let me know what you think!
I started playing like a year ago a Vergil(rapid slash)/Wesker(low shot)/Dr.Doom(Beam) team. This became by far, my best 3 characters on the game, but should i change my team order or assist? a lot of peopple tell me to put vergil on second place, but they doesnt tell me why, should i put vergil 2nd? let doom 3rd? change something?
I love my team, but maybe if i post here i could get some tips to make it even better.

(Sorry for bad english, I apologize if i made a mistake in writting)

Your english is just fine. The reason people like to use Vergil second, apart from rapid slash just being a really good assist, can be seen in the video above your post. When your point character performs a combo that doesn’t use a ground/wall bounces and then DHCs to Vergil, you’re able to extend your combo by a very significant amount, and can easily TOD most of the cast, depending on your team composition and how you get the hit (throw, crossup, clean hit, etc.)

Doom is generally seen as a weak point on a team. You don’t have him there because he’s a really good character, you have him there because he’s an incredible assist. For most people anyways. I personally play doom anchor, not because he’s a bad character, but because I want to protect my assist. However, when you play a point character that uses ground and wall bounces (for example, wesker can use a wall bounce in his combo), Vergil 2nd isn’t nearly as strong as Doom 2nd. The reason being that you won’t be able to extend your Vergil combo as much, whereas with Doom 2nd, you can do a long combo with your point character, consume your ground and wall bounces, and TAC to Doom for a kill using the infinite or other standard TAC combos.

For Vergil, he’s going to be strong wherever you put him, but playing him on point is betting that your point Vergil is better than the other guy’s whole team. If Vergil get’s taken out, Wesker+ plasma beam is still an incredibly strong combo, but if your opponent by chance plays Vergil anchor, you’re going to wish Vergil was still alive to help you take out your opponent’s Vergil. If you choose to play Vergil on anchor instead of 1st or 2nd, you’ve given yourself an incredible amount of very scary comeback potential. Dark Vergil will steal matches you never should have won, so he’s strong on anchor as well.

Your team in general plays really good in basically any order, and honestly you should play around with different orders, because as you improve and play players who are more and more skilled, you will find yourself preferring different orders for different matchups. You might consider trying wesker on point as plasma beam and rapid slash are both GREAT assists for wesker. I personally don’t like wesker on second because his DHCs aren’t that great. You can certainly position yourself to get max damage from maximum wesker to fix that problem, but when you’re in the heat of battle you don’t always find the best positioning. That means considerably less damage out of maximum wesker, which usually means leaving a character that should have died, alive. Leaving a top tier character like Vergil alive with a pixel will come back to haunt you, I guarantee it.

So in general, you can play just about any order you like. Dr. Doom is about the only character I wouldn’t play on point, because the only benefit he gets from the wesker assist are unblockables that are generally going to be hard to land with Doom. That being said, Doom can make a very strong point character with Vergil second. I feel as though rapid slash is one of doom’s best assists, but more importantly, most Doom players won’t use their ground bounce, and he doesn’t have a wall bounce, so DHC’ing to Vergil should generally result in a kill. Here are a few good team orders you should play around with:

Wesker, Vergil, Doom - Emphasis on getting a hit, saving your wall bounce if at all possible, and DHCing to spiral swords for kills. Limited incoming options for 2nd slot. Less comeback potential with Doom in anchor slot.
Wesker, Doom, Vergil - Emphasis on playing a strong neutral, and TAC’ing to doom when you’re unable to kill with maximum wesker. Stronger options on incoming if wesker is downed. Much more comeback potential with Vergil in anchor slot rather than doom.
Vergil, Doom, Wesker - Emphasis on getting a hit and TAC’ing to Doom when dimension slash, or in some cases dimension slash+ sphere flame, won’t kill. Strong options on incoming if Vergil is downed. Dark wesker still a very powerful anchor, much better than doom.
Doom, Vergil, Wesker - Emphasis on playing a strong neutral, and DHC’ing to Vergil when you get a hit. Fewer options on incoming for your 2nd (unless he’s in DT), and you still get to have dark wesker for comeback potential.

If I had to pick ONE, I would choose Wesker, Vergil, Doom and avoid using wesker’s wallbounce so you can DHC to Vergil for TODs all day. But again, it’s highly recommended that you play around with your team in all orders. At high level play, there’s a good chance that the opponent may choose to snap in a different character, so it’s important to learn your options regardless of which characters you have left and what order they’re in. Good luck!
It comes down to personal preference.

That’s true for the most part. Wesker Doom Vergil can have his cake and eat it too though. Plasma and rapid slash are two of weskers best assists, allows you to TAC to doom for kills, has good options on incoming if your point is taken out, and still gives the incredible comeback factor with Vergil. That order will require a bit more work on execution and neutral than some of the other orders will though. That being said, there are characters that can lame wesker out without even trying, so it’s definitely worth it to try out all the different orders and learn to pick appropriately depending on the matchup (unless you’re playing online, in which case you should definitely keep your current team order XD)

Actually in retrospect, under ideal perfect execution conditions, I’d say wesker doom vergil is slightly stronger than the previously mentioned wesker vergil doom. But to each his own.

If you like your order, then PLAY IT! You should play what you enjoy
thanks guys, i will try my team in diferent ways, i love to have vergil as a comeback, so i think im gona let him 3rd, doom 2nd for a god TAC and wesker 1rst

Seems like a worse version of mag/vergil/doom. Mag will build more meter and lead to TOD’s upon touch/grab. Wesker has to reset, unless you are just as good at Doom infinites as any Mag player doing a fairly basic combo into Vergil dhc. Theoretically, I guess any touch from Wesker/Mag would be death, but practically speaking, Mag is better. But if we’re talking about playing online in lag, I can see how Wesker>Mag on point lol.

I would also advise on Vergil 2nd/Doom 3rd. I realize Vergil can’t die to save him for xf3, so blow the meter! Spiral swords on practically all the time. In particular, aim for the rapid slash, raw tag Doom tech. At the point you realize you can’t do it without possibly losing Vergil, DHC out to Doom and play Doom/Vergil. xf3 Vergil doesn’t really need meter because his rapid slashes are safe. As long as you build 1 meter during the combo, you can devil trigger into relaunch loops to kill anybody.

I think mag/vergil/doom is shaping up to be a top 3 team next to team chris g and zero may cry. That way you play arguably one of the best point combos of Mag/missiles (shadyk/champ), then one of the best 2 man combos of Vergil with swords/missiles (chris g), then one of the best anchors dark Vergil (pr rog/shady k/all the japanese Vergil anchors).

You sure you don’t want to switch to that Vergil/Dante/Mag team you suggested? Ahhhhh. Probably not. Vergil shines his best in front and in back. Xf3 Vergil is a force to be feared. Anchor strange is just…Strange. I don’t really see the benefit of putting him in the back unless you put Vergil on point. I like vergil on point with this team because of the high/low unblockable with nova’s centurian rish overhead assist.

I mean if you want to make it godlike you could replace strange altogether with doom, maybe magneto. Vergil Nova Doom is crazy. You get left/right’s, high/low’s, Doom’s amazing selection of assist. Plus Doom is no slouch on Anchor. But if you have to play Strange and you have to have Nova on point. I would stick with Nova Strange Vergil.
I recently swapped my team order for Cap(ss)/Vergil(rapid)/Doom(missile). I’m normally opposed to doom anchor, but the team benefits too hugely from Cap/Vergil and Vergil/Cap back by missiles it makes it worth it. One of the key reasons I did this is everytime someone blocks a Cap Hyper I can go into Swords and start a very dirty block string to chip out or regain my meter. I know the vergil/doom shell is common, so are there any examples of already discovered block strings using missiles and RT glitch? I’d like to make the pressure string as optimal as possible before layering in Caps assist for a dirty mix up/pressure extension. Even just messing around with small RT + missiles mini pressure strings, I’m getting a lot of mileage, now I want to make a person suffer everytime they block Cap with 2 meters.
Eh. I don’t use RT glitch as much as I should probably, but if I’m looking to chip/zone with vergil/doom I’d opt for DT over swords anyday. Call missiles and go ham with St. H xx judgement orbs, stinger xx judgement orbs, instant air dash heavies, plink dash lows, fake left/rights, etc. etc.
I could go on for days about how good DT/missiles is, but that sounds tiring.
Vergil/Doom/Amaterasu
I can’t find anyone who plays this team. Why?
Doom/Ammy was proven to be a strong shell and Vergil as a point character can take advantage of both cold star for the otg and doom’s beam for teleport/round trip mixups.
In addition, vergil’s ability to corner carry is more than decent and can lead to doom TAC combos in the corner for the kill + building meter.
Surely there must be something I’m not seeing here. Perhaps most people simply avoid ammy and don’t find her to be a great anchor… or maybe the team has some huge flaw I’m not aware of (air control?)
Any thoughts?
