Sure, Hawkeye’s horrizonal arrows helps with Vergil’s teleport mixups and Vergils Rapid Slash creates space for Hawkeye.
My team is Vergil/Deadpool/Hawkeye.
I was using Wesker for his OTG but he’s just too brainless to play.
One bad thing is that Deadpool’s OTG uses up a groundbounce, so you have to adjust your combos to account for that. However, it does force a groundbounce, so you can actually use it after you use up your own groundbounce and it’ll still OTG for you. =)
I’m thinking of using Dante with Vergil.
My current team of Taskmaster Haggar Chris (three faves of mine) feels like Taskmaster is the odd one out. How good would Taskmaster work with Dante/Vergil?
Or better yet. Would Vergil, a favorite of mine, work with Chris and Haggar? Neither really needs meter which should benefit Vergil.
Theres ways around that actually, if you do stinger as soon as Deadpool’s OTG assist hits it doesn’t use up a ground bounce, works with Iron Fist’s OTG assist as well.
How would vergil/frank/hawkeye work?
Looking for a good anchor to follow the vergil and frank.
My current team is Vergil/ Dante/ Taskmaster. They work well together. Arrows are nice for Vergil and Dante’s mix up game and if you learn to use the appropriate judgement cuts in tandem with arrows you can zone a bit and have even more control of the horizontal field. Judgement orbs have a nice bit of durability and will make up the difference in points for Task’s arrows to break through other projectiles with ease. Dante’s OTG gives’ Vergil TODs and a good DHC option. If I don’t like a match up or Vergil’s weak I DT him and tag him out to Dante who can proceed to build meter/ kill chars with his own mix ups and infinite options. It’s quite scary fighting Dante and knowing that if/when you do kill him a DT’d Vergil is coming in with at least 3 bars AND an assist.
I also experimented with Chris and Vergil and it was loads of fun. Chris is an amazing battery char. I think I may pick him back up actually.
Thanks Wildabeast. I actually discovered it that same day =).
But another thing that’s good is that their OTGs force a groundbounce, so depending on when you use it in a combo, it can give you an extra groundbounce =)
What do you guys think of Vergil/Trish/Taskmaster?
I use arrows for teleport mixups, and Trish’s peekaboo to control the space a little better. Taskmaster makes a decent anhor, and Rapid Slash assist helps control space if I DHC Vergil into Taskmaster. The only worry I have is extending combos. But Vergil has enough options to break 700k reliably without any assists. DHC potential usually nets me around 800k or more with 2 meters. Any advice on some mixup options or lockdowns I can put people on in the corner?
Been tryIng To run the dmc team. I like having trish voltage assist for both Dante and Vergil but if they get wrecked early I can’t make any comebacks even with xf3. I’m thinking abou Vergil anchor with Dante in front. Is Vergil good with lv 3?
Out of those 3, Dante is probably the best anchor.
I don’t know if you know this yet, but Vergil and Frank work pretty darn good with one another. I was just messing around in training mode and Vergil can get Frank to lvl 4 with just a single bar.
But that team would work just fine. You might want to find an anchor character that can help you extend combos as I’m assuming you’d be using shopping cart a lot. I’m unsure if Hawkeye could because my knowledge of that character is next to none.
Can you explain how vergil gets frank to lvl 4 like that?
Who would be a good anchor then that has an extender other than wesker. Id rather not use him because of his ridiculousness.
I’m thinking of running Vergil/Dormammu/Wesker as a team.
Any tips you would like to bestow on a noob like me?
As of right now I’m running Vergil, Viper and Doom. But I actually might play around with Vergil, Viper and Frank to see how it plays out.
So with Vergil, you do any sword spiral combo that ends with a ground bounce from lunar phase. I’m using Viper’s seismo assist, so my bnb is:
LMH, Stinger, Trick M, S + L (Hold L) -> Super J. MMH, helm breaker, Call OTG assist, release L, Cr. H, Judgement Cut L xx Spiral Swords, Rapid Slash, Judgment Cut L, Lunar Phase -> Hard Tag Frank West, Snapshot.
This does about 650K for one bar… which is nothing stellar but you do get Frank to lvl 4 as it does 55 hits. If you have the bar, Frank can use his hyper for about 830K total.
My combo’s not optimized damage wise, but the rapid slash after the spiral swords usually gets them in the corner for positioning afterwards so I’ve opted for that.
I would suggest your third character is someone that will help Vergil extend his combos. I can get Vergil to do about 40 hits by himself without utilizing the ground bounce… so an OTG assist or any other assist you find out that gets him to 50 hits + after the Lunar Phase is golden. I’m just unsure if how much an OTG assist will help Frank. It’d prolly just add another 50Kish to any combo. Nothing stellar but it’s something.
The thing about this set up is that Vergil then becomes your last character. This is something you’ll have to think about. Using my team as an example, I could have Vergil, Viper and Frank. But after doing the combo, my order will be Frank, Viper and Vergil. I could do that, or start my team off as Vergil, Frank and Viper… which will make it become Frank, Vergil and Viper. This is something you should just take into account if you’re going to go this route.
Edit: I just saw this video. Winrich uses what I was talking about at around 7:10.

This was actually my first team that I played when I booted up UMvC3. If you look at my post above, you could use the same combo, using Wesker’s assist instead of Viper’s. Vergil works great with Dormammu. Make a habit of calling dormammu if you’re going in a block string as this usually makes Vergil safe - Dormammu’s assist usually lands in front or on Vergil. Also with this team, keep away is a strong point. Use Vergil’s judgement cuts and roundhouse to safely call out Dormammu, and if your opponent ever gets tagged by Dorm, Vergil’s reach can basically catch your opponent anywhere.
Dorm and Wesker work great together. You can extend Dorm’s combos and also call out Wesker while you’re “fishing” with Dorm for some unblockables.
Wesker… pretty self explanatory.
Thanks much.
Hey my main team is wesker (gunshot), vergil (rapid slash), doom(plasma beam). I’m keeping doom on anchor but i was wondering what order is more effective: wesker on point and vergil 2nd or vice versa?
If your vergil is meter hungry 2nd. If you really like wesker’s OTG to make combos easier, put him first.
Both Work but think you’ll get more mileage out of vergil/wesker/doom.
Couple Reasons.
- RapidSlash doesn’t do a whole lot of extra damage for wesker compared to a normal BNB whereas your getting an extra 150-200k more for Vergil with samurai edge.
- Putting Wesker towards the back lets you switch him out easier so you can abuse his XF2 or 3 which are more potent then Vergils or Dooms
The only issue was that my vergil was meter hungry because of my sword loops setups, but i do agree that my team would be a lot more effective with wesker 2nd.
