Yeah I know what you mean. But I don’t know, I think I like the missiles better
I’m using this team with Dante as anchor. Frank Survival Technique DHC Devil Trigger opens up some serious combo possibilities with Dante. I’m sure it can with Vergil as well I just don’t know how to use Vergil yet.
Recently I’ve been thinking about Trish,Vergil,Wesker. The idea behind this squad is to play lame with Trish, build meter, and if I have to I do round harvest and tag in Vergil safely or I can start Wesker and use Trish and Vergil assist to back him up. I wanted to find a character that can rush and play lame that’s not Mags or Doom but after reading Xbtran’s post I might try Vergil,Dorm,Wesker. I think Vergil,???,Strider sounds good too.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Okay I’d like some advice from you good folks here at SRK.I currently use Vergil,Nova,Hawkeye and they’ve been doing so mighty fine work together(got my 1st perfect online 2day thanx to the son of Sparda) but I notice these Sentinel drones and Sentinel in general sometimes is whooping my ass…along with good Dante players who know when to teleport.I do love Hawkeye on anchor at XF Lv.3 and his Triple Arrow assist is great for my Vergil mix-up but i’m wondering if a switch to Dr.Doom is necessary(Hidden Missiles,Plasma Beam,Photon Shots for anti-air,etc.) to keep my wins going and help out with this problem…would love to hear what you guys think
Thanks for the tips man! I’m still trying out new characters to add in place of nemesis and I’m really liking the plasma beam from doom so I’m going to keep messing around with it. Thanks again for the pointers! XD
Gah, I need Vergil to be a good anchor in order for my team to work damn it!! But because of this discussion and sadly, my own observations I come to you guys with my problem.
Right now I’m running Zero-a/Dante-a/Vergil-y with the strategy of just using Zero and Dante as points while using Vergil’s rapid slash for combo extension AND horizontal cover (ghetto projectile lol) while using Zero and Dante to stuff Vergil’s meter for anchor. Honestly, it works extremely well for both Zero and Dante as both of them can use the other 2 assists equally well for both damage, combo, and space control. With Zero and Dante I can do ToD combos anywhere on the screen against pretty much every cast member, as I extremely disagree with Zero/Dante dhc synergy being dead (1.3 mil dmg if zero touches u finishing with Dante’s DT dhc which requires only 0.7 meter and about a mil with starting with Dante ending with Zero rekkoha).
The problem is that I feel like there isn’t enough herp derp factor or ways to get in with Vergil to make him a good anchor like Spencer’s high/low/left/right+bionic arm or random hypering Hawkeye or the overall stupidness of lvl4xf Wesker. On top of this i found that Zero makes for one of the most retarded anchors as well. I don’t know what to do guys, with my current team Vergil wont get the most mileage unless he is the anchor. I’ve thought about pointing Vergil as with Dante’s OTG assist he can easily do massive damage without requiring much meter or using Dante’s Weasel Shot assist for mix ups. But either way, he wont get anything out of Zero’s ryuijin assist that’s there for Dante and I feel that if i’m going to point with Vergil i wont get his full point potential without an OTG AND projectile… I really want to make this team work but if it has to come to it I’m willing to drop one of the 3 characters… I’m thinking Zero/Dante(jam) or Vergil(rapid)/xxxx… Vergil/Dante(otg)/xxxx… or maybe even changing the anchor to Dante for battery(zero)/user(vergil)/assist(dante)… I don’t know. And say that i end up doing Vergil/Dante/xxxx, what projectile anchor would you recommend? Doom is really not my style tbh… Any inputs??
For a while I was running Vergil,Wesker,Hawkeye. You could use Hawkeye’s trip arrow assist to make your teleports safe and for left/right 50/50s. Hawkeye doesn’t really fit my style though because I prefer characters that can play lame and rushdown at the same time but Hawkeye tends to get rushed down if you let up on shooting arrows.
I’ve also been using Virgin/Cap Am. They have pretty good synergy. But I’m guessing they’re characters that work well together with pretty much anyone.
The third char however is hard to pick. You can go for a beam assist or an OTG assist. Can’t really choose.
I play vergil(slash)/dante(crystal)/strider(vajra) and it works damn good.
I’m looking to run a Vergil/ Magneto team, but I’m having trouble finding a third to go with them. The ones I’m thinking of right now are Wolverine, Dante, Chun Li, or maybe Sentinel. What do you guys think?
Chun assist can pick up after Vergil’s high time and Dante’s can do it in the corner well, but Wolverine doesn’t offer much in terms of assists, but I’ve been running him for a long time so I’m comfortable with him.
Just choose Sent for pressure like everyone else…
Frank West maybe? Between Magneto’s level 3 hyper and Vergil’s spiral sword combos you could probably levelup frank really quickly + hes got a good assist.
i dont see the point in running vergil on point
lots of chars can do what he does better on point, while doing more damage, having better mix ups, or building more meter.
imo he’s 2nd slot material, just like dante. sorta has trouble getting in and doing those wild mix ups without assist lockdown.
I think he’s fine on point. Has a 5 frame start up c.L meaning he can definitely frame wise poke with most of the other characters that like to mash on fast shit at the start of the round. His mix up without sword supers (that you need the 2 meter formations to maximize) is pretty much reliant on assists any way. Most characters that can do strong mix ups really need assists to make them truly safe and strong any ways so that doesn’t really hurt Vergil too much more since he has more range than they do on his normals any way. Your goal with Vergil on point is basically to reset until you kill the first character and then make sure DT is active so you can then put Vergil down as second character or anchor and run his DT enhanced assists and build up meter for him so he can come out the gate blazing in DT.
There’s nothing wrong about playing Vergil point it just requires you to play smart since you can’t whiff cancel your normals and he’s generally not at his highest potential until you activate DT. Regular Vergil played solidly with his normals, specials and assists can easily kill off characters and control a lot of area space and then just place him as 2nd or anchor after you kill someone. If he dies then just make sure you 2 strong characters backing him up.
Playing him on point also allows you to use rapid slash more religiously since you get a free combo for landing rapid slash and then activating DT during.
A safer spot for him if you just wanna get him going all powered up is 2nd or anchor where with 2 meter sword supers and devil trigger he’s pretty much guaranteed to kill a character free. You can just left/right teleport around the guy with sword storm super until they get hit and then kill them off. Especially if you turn XF on.
So, I’m really new to this game, been trying to pick it up. I’ve tested the characters that I like and found out that the three that I really enjoy the most are Vergil Dante Iron Fist. The kung-fu man is just too fucking cool not to pick up and play, and the two brothers were actually the reason to buy the game lol, I’m just too much of a DMC whore sighcapcom with it’s crappy decsions on handeling their games to some western idiots without a clue on what made the actual series so good sigh.
Anyway, I’ve watched some tutorials and vids, I’m pretty sure that Iron Fist will be doing well with Dante’s jam session assist, since in most tutoruals it was recommended that he needs something to help him get in and hold the opponent in a place.
Now the question is, how does Vergil feels himself in such a team? I’ve watched the Jago tutorial and he said that to maximaze his mix-ups u need an assist that hits low, so that vergil can go into a teleport above their head\behind them and the assist will come out and hit low, thus making it really hard for the opponent to block it correctly. Dante has a low assist, but if I use it, that means I’ll hurt Iron Fist.
Thought about using the Iron Fists overhead assit instead, so I could mix them up with a teleport behind them and going low, while calling the assist to hit overhead, and keep the Dante assist to help out Iron Fist.
Anyway would like someone to give me his opinion on all of this.
Much love for all the Vergil players, we need more power!! xD
Here’s me team ideas. I was hoping you guys could give some general advice. Vergil/Trish/Nova.
Trish can end most of her combos in Round Harvest, which sets up an unblockable for Vergil using Nova’s Centurion Rush assist. Outside of that, I’m running Trish with Peekaboo assist to cover some space and defend Vergil while he sets up Judgment Cuts. Or make it harder for my opponent to get in. Thinking about switching to Trish’s Low Voltage H assist though for the teleport mixups. Think it prorates pretty heavily in combos though.
Outside of using Round Harvest unblockables. I use Nova’s assist to get in better with Vergil and set up the same unblockables with Trish’s pressure.
I’m kind of new to Nova and not sure how well he’ll work out on the team. I’d probably be willing to replace him with Dr. Doom or Taskmaster (preferebly Taskmaster) if he doesn’t work out. How does this team sound to you guys? Or do Vergil and Trish need an OTG assist to capitalize off of random hits and get access to higher damage? I was thinking unblockables could make up for the lack of an OTG assist. I would run Vergil or Trish on point, and Nova in the anchor position. Probably DHC Vergil out, and use him as my anchor once he’s in DT for the better assists.
I’ve been using team Trench coat lately but i just don’t really like Wesker. Would Doom be a good alternative for anchor? And what assist would be good?
I like Vergil/Wesker/Doom. Vergil is a really solid point character as long as you give him the right assists. Especially the OTG assist, gives his combos a nice damage boost. Other nice thing about this team is that if Vergil bites it, you still have Wesker/Doom, which is a nice duo.
Not sure if I said this in this post yet, so apologies if I’m repeating, but Flocker really showed off the power of Zero / Vergil / Hawkeye at WNF. Using the Vergil assist for corner carries with Zero was really smart. Also having meter for Hawkeye keeps Vergil assist safe when trying to hold the opponent on the other side of the screen.
I like Doom as anchor as long as you can move him around & practice XF3 timing (not that difficult, but lots of people online miss combos due to mistiming during XF). I use missiles… I know, but I like combos with them in it (though the ones I use are hardly damaging)
EDIT: just remembered this last night, but didn’t record it… left with Doom, magic pixel, 5 bars & was up against a Wesker, much more life, ~2-3 bars. Neither has XF anymore, he tries to chip me with Maximum Wesker. Once I see the freeze, Doom Time. I don’t think he liked that
