Religion is always a touchy subject.
I’ve always found it difficult to negotiate the imperative of spreading the gospel of Miku, to make the ultimate truth palatable to the massses… yet to not dilute the message and present it as a friendly and peace loving religion. The hypocrisy in people, of wanting ever lasting life and happiness, but yet they are unwilling to subjugate the dissolute is just disgusting. It is easy for ME to see the absolute need for the destruction of profligates, but to convince somebody is a way that doesn’t turn them to heresy is a fine balancing act.
It is hard…but as long as she continues to speak to me, I will continue to do her bidding, no matter the cost.

I think this is actually a legit thread. this thread is the discussion of deciphering religion whilst the religion thread most people create questions if its true or not. his first question inquires about the public general understanding of the text, which is important
the english language, our history, politics now, story telling and more all rely on an understanding of religion. I’m more interested in listening to an athiest that knows the bible inside out than an athiest who is stumbling through life pretending he understands the thing he/she’s critical of.
I’m not religious myself, but im intelligent enough to know how useful analysing any text is let alone something with so much historical weight

I agree that we won’t know anything until we die, but that’s like saying that a skeptical person who won’t believe in aliens until there is enough evidence is just as stupid as someone who believes in alien abductions.
Before it locks, I was raised Catholic and since I stopped attending catholic school in 7th grade I have seen nothing to reinforce/affirm anything that was drilled into my head. It has been 8 years since I’ve been to church and forgotten most of that shit I was taught. If you believe in religion that’s good for you, but personally I dont find it to be an entertainable notion that some almighty motherfucker watches us from above and judges everything we do.

Thats not whats deists believe. You say God as if you know what he is. Deists believe in a higher power that they wont understand.
When deists say “they believe in God” they have to know what kind of God then…which means its a type of religion which defeats the purpose.
Yes both sides are really stupid and the atheists aren’t that far from irrational or unreasonable as they think; in fact i would say most of their arguments are one of the worst you can read on the internet. I’ve seen both atheists and theist play the whole evolution vs creation which is really sad and shows that both sides know jack shit about it.
Theism, Deism, Pantheism, and Atheism are all various view points as to how this universe and everything in existence came to be. Atheists themselves don’t have any form of presentation that shows that it is rational to think that the universe (with it’s laws, the systems involved with and in our planet…) just came to be from chance so they really shouldn’t be claiming that they are rational. We just don’t know and debating on things that never gain a solution is a waste of time.
I agree, you can’t call either side stupid. At the same time, the whole debate is basically two sides who will never give up, one with a large amount of evidence, and the other with a large amount of faith, fighting basically just to shut each other up. Nothing ever gets solved in these debates because when the brainwashing religious teachings work, they work well enough that people refuse to listen to reason. Vice versa to asshole atheists, who go around calling religious literature ‘fairy tales’ and ‘fiction.’ I’m an atheist, but I respect anyone’s beliefs, no matter how much they differ from my own.
