Would anyone happen to have the dimensions for the RO stick? I’m looking to buy a stick from Iseelba, and need the dimensions in order to have custom art. Thanks in advance. =)
Hey Spiffyshoes, did you get a chance to send the sticks in the mail yet?
Converters Update
This might belong in the converter thread, but whatever.
I got two converters in the mail today. One is the Super Box4, which is a PSX -> USB converter, and the other is the Total Control, which is a PSX -> Xbox converter. Here is my review with regards to the Red Octane sticks.
The Super Box4 converter is from a Chinese no-name company (literally I cannot find a brand name on the box or the converter). I got mine from vortz_inc on ebay. Total cost $7 including shipping. I couldn’t be happier with the thing.
First off, the converter itself is compact, comes with a 6-foot USB cable that can be used for other things if you need an extra USB cable, and it works flawlessly so far with all my games and controllers. I used it both on Kailerra for old school CPS2 games, and with Melty Blood: ReACT. No lag whatsoever. Great with a modded RedOctane.
Bottom line: if you need a PSX -> USB converter, buy this now from vortz_inc. You will be happy. Here is one of his auctions. http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-CONVERTER-W-2-PORTS-PSX-PS2-TO-PC-CONTROLLERS-DDR_W0QQitemZ5826011661QQcategoryZ3677QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Next up, the Cypher Games “Total Control”. I tested this with an old school and a new Red Octane joystick. It passed the early tests fine. No lag and no problems with Guilty Gear #Reload. No lag and no problems with all my CPS ROMS in Final Burn Alpha XXX. But it fails where so many other PSX -> Xbox converters fail. It works like crap with Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. Honestly, this is Capcom’s fault because the game works with VERY FEW converters. I don’t even know how they programmed it to be so crappy. So, if you are planning on playing 3S on Xbox, I can’t really recommend this converter. Its better than some I’ve used, but not perfect.
Bottom line:
Thanks for posting this. I’ve almost concluded that you probably need an xbox specific PCB for this game. (SFAC) I play a lot of Xbox live fighters, so for me, it would be worth it.
Having said that, is anyone here willing to mod 2 of my RO cases with an Xbox PCB?
As long as it works, I don’t care what kind of xbox pcb it is, I just want one of my sticks to work with xbox live. I even have a prewired xbox PCB you can use, if someone will just help me put it in the case, I have no experience with wiring.
A guy I know made me a nice wood base for the RedOctane stick. It fits perfectly on the bottom and allows clearance for a happ competition stick.
Here are a few shots:
This RO stick had a totally screwed up PCB. Three of my buttons are locked on “turbo fire” even though it doesn’t have that feature! I scrapped the RO PCB and ordered a couple of digital PSX pads to use instead.
I get a 404 error on all of those links.
Seriously? They still work for me. Anyone else not able to view them?
Works for me now. sometimes photobucket does that for me, too though.
Looks good, and that wiring looks clean.
Thanks man. I know I used too much solder, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
This isn’t a bad idea if you can’t get the stick to clear.
I finally got my RO stick…DAMAGED!!!
It’s minor though…I can’t wait to turn this into a HAPP stick.
This’ll be my first time, so I’ll proably come here and ask for help.
The stick clears just fine. You can see my dremel hack job in the wiring picture. The stick sits further up in the top of the case and doesn’t rub the base.
There is NO room in there for a PCB… the little stock PCB that came with the stick is all screwed up anyway, so I’m going to make this a universal stick with DB-25 connection.
I need some help. I’m trying to find a stick that works well inside these cases, Sanwa is prefferred. Can anyone recommend a good place to buy sanwa sticks, especially the one Iseelba was selling earlier on the thread?
Any help would be appreciated. I tried to ask the guy from Himura a few days ago, but I haven’t had any response. I’m really interested in getting about 3 sanwa sticks for my RO case.
Yeah, Himura’s customer support is horrible. I emailed them a long ass time ago and still haven’t gotten a response. Fuck them.
yea i ordered something from Himura on the 29th, and nothing. I get no response from him either…we’ll see how things go.
Jeebus…thank god I didn’t ORDER anything from them.
he seems to be a good guy, I think he just does all this stuff in his spare time, as a hobby. maybe he is on vacation?
Yeah, a 3 week vacation according to my last email. :razzy:
yeah, mine too.:xeye:
It took him awhile but he got back to me at about an invoice not too long ago. I think he might be busy with something, who knows? Either way he’s a nice guy, and I hear he throws in alittle candy if things are running alittle late. =P
