Red Octane stick on sale: $20

Could you show a picture of your wiring job.

The grounds might not be on correctly.

I don’t know if this wiring diagram will help. I made it in ms paint for someone I was talking to on AIM lol.

And yes the directions are correct. If your down direction is the only one that is working, it is the top one in the diagram. All your other switches are wired incorrectly.

Alright thanks guys for the help, i followed you diagram, but it seems up still doesnt work. Down, left, right, all buttons work fine now. You guys think it’s the converter im using(RedOctane ps2 to xbox,gc,usb)? Ill try post a pic up soon.

How did your friend fit a router in there? Or did you break the box down? (I know nothing about routers but I’ve been told you can’t fit one in the RedOctane case).

Maybe it wasn’t a router, maybe a dremmel? he said he had to hold the thing with one hand, maybe it was like a small belt sander or something. I’ll see him this weekend, I’ll take some photos of the case. (maybe the tools, too-he was using his dad’s stuff)

i need to use a router, dremmel or whatever works too because that extender nut below my ball top is starting to irritate my ring finger. I realized it after a bit of playing as i didnt notice it at first. So yea details of the job would be great Final…thanks.

I just talked to him on the phone, he said he tried a handheld sander, and it didn’t do too much so he used a ‘grinding/sanding wand thing’. I’m thinking thats a dremmel? he doesn’t know, he said they were just his dad’s tools.

I laughed because it sounds rediculous trying to sand through a half an inch of board.

WTF is wrong with SRK? Shutting down every other hour n shit…

Hey lseelba, I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me. I’m trying to pick out what I want to mod this stick with and I’ll probably buy the stick from you (if you have what I need). I look for you on AIM but I never see you on. What’s a good time for me to look for you on AIM?

I hacked the ever-loving crap out of mine with a dremmel tool. I used stove bolts to hold the happ competition in. It looks sorta ghetto but it works pretty well! All I need now is a new base to accomodate the lower-hanging competition joystick.

I think there’s a problem with the PCB that came with the redoctane. It likes to rapid tap start (unless I hold it down) whether i have the quick disconnect connected to the button’s microswitch or not. My workaround is to connect the quick disconnect to the “closed” prong on the start button’s microswitch instead of the “open” prong.

I was able to mount a happ joystick into final_cuts red octane. I routed the top portion where the joystick mounts onto quite a bit and the bottom piece of wood that closes the stick almost till it was paper thin. I used hot glue to secure the joystick since the wood is too thin to use screws. The height of the joystick was actually pretty good and the joystick feels solid. It’s a bit of work but if you do it right it works out very well.

What kind of router did you use to get inside the top of the case? Also wouldn’t it have been easier to just top mount the joystick? You would have achieved the same height and still been able to use bolts to secure it instead of hot glue.

I used a dremel with the little router attachment and a router bit. I had to route without the attachment close to the wall of the stick, freehand like. Top mouting a happ stick doesn’t seem like a good idea. If you have done it I’ll like to see a pic of it. The hot glue bonded the stick to the box rock solid. You can still switch out the microswitches if they break.

I’ve mooded 2 of these sticks already. First one took me a long ass time because the bit I was using for the router was too small. Second stick took me about 30 minutes to fit in the case.

Would anyone be willing to sell me a modded RO stick? If so, for how much?

Also, is it possible to move the joystick a little closer to the buttons? I’m thinking it’s unlikely.

If you’re as cute as you are in that picture I will.

I’ll sell you one for $65 plus actual shipping. Its got a Sanwa JLW battop and Happ competition buttons. I’m modding a few for friends so its ready to go.

PM me.

Hahaha. xD

Yes, this joystick is solid. Its a nice looking job, with a happ stick, I’m certainly impressed. the mod seems like it would be pretty tough to do, though. I put some of that non-slip stuff on the bottom, its all good now. I’ll post pictures soon, its an awesome job.

Iseelba, did you get the email about the Sticks and buttons? I can’t find anyone else who is selling that type of stick that I got from you before, the sanwa ball-top with the nut on it. If you have any more of them, I’d buy them from you. I emailed Himura about them, but got no response.
