Maybe a unibeam
Try a simple LMH + assist, bomb, mach speed.
Remember you can can cancel the bomb animation with a mach speed. Lots of assists will give you time to do that but only because Joe can cancel the recovery into a super.
Don’t you have to wait for the bomb to hit his foot first to do the detonation bug? It seems like that would be hard to time if I had to cancel the bomb animation. Or is it easier to do now compared to Vanilla?
Yeah they took that little stipulation out in UMVC3. You don’t have to wait for the bomb to hit his foot now. You can control when the bomb detonates from the very beginning.
Ok which assist in your opion works best in keep people in the combo for a good period of time to get this started?
Well first of all, according to .Guy.'s video the first 2 mach speeds will only work if you’re not in the corner (correct me if I’m wrong). So with said I’d imagine that:
Ammy-cold star
Chun- legs
Mag-hyper grav
Strange- Eye of Amagatto
Iron Man- Unibeam assist
Spencer-Pull
Captain-Shield Slash
Arthur-daggers? (according to .Guy.)
(in corner only)
Wall bounce assists
Just for starters. I’m sure there are more. This post I made in the video thread has various midscreen and corner bomb combos in it in case you have seen it: Just Like In The Movies! - The Viewtiful Joe Video Thread
Cool that’s good to know. I wonder though, instead of jumping the bomb, would it be more advantageous to block it? maybe that way you can do another mach speed in the corner. AFAIK, it doesn’t reset anything, so why not?
Yep, Daggers work.
But no, this will work in the corner (assuming you didn’t start RIGHT NEXT to the corner since the first hit of Mach Speed knocks it behind you), but you’ll have to V-Dodge the bomb first before you detonate and spawn another bomb.
You can get 5 Mach Speeds but it’s the hardest to do, and most characters will be dead by then.
Best assist bolded since best assist for this, best assist, yes.
Hokay. So as of today the highest damaging combo I know right now into Slow does 777,500 damage.
Is there anything higher yet?
That one burns 2 bars though, right?
On a separate note, I remember seeing combos that had Joe ending with Mach Speed, with a crap ton of hitstun so they flip out. Anyone know what this video was? Or if you guys have a combo for that? I have an idea for a sick reset with FFC by Frank.
Mmhmm.
Also wanted to add that you can throw it at different heights, so the minimum height is usually where beams are (e.g. doom plasma, unibeam, sent’s spit). If you go a little higher, you can hit them and they can’t hit you.
So Joe’s Voomerang spam is a normal jump? I always used a super jump and that got me into all sorts of “fake” voomerang problems.
if you normal jump it, you cant not have a voomerang come out unless you use an M voomerang.
No I always normal jump. I never super jump the voomerang spam.
quick question on the topic of voomerang spam, i have a lot of trouble getting the rangs out when air dashing backwards, if I air dash back higher It’s noticeably easier, but if airdashing from minimum height it’s loads more difficult after back air dash versus forward air dash. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
No you have to jump higher to do it. Most characters in the game have a difference as to when they can attack during their forward and backdashes. Joe and can do a move a sooner during his forward dash. However Joe pretty much cannot do a move until his backwards airdash is done so you have to jump higher to compensate for it.
retreating voomerangs are hard lol. I have to do full 360s to have them come out sequentially, consistently.
okay, i thought there was something to it.
Here’s a question, for those who have assists that cover aerial space (I have doom missles) that voomerangs can’t cover, how do you cover your assist. I found that more often than not, if I did a Voomerang in the air while calling an assist, without access to mach-speed in the air, there’s little to nothing I could do to prevent from getting tagged by a Bionic arm/Mag shockwave or another invincible super. How do you cover the assist in that situation?
