Recommending Competition // SF4 [PC] Community Thread

Lol playing sim makes everyone rage online. I’ve literally only come across 2 sims online ever since ssf4 came out, i just avoid them because its too annoying if the connection is bad.
I’m just gonna take the easy way out in ae and pick up yun for sim matches ^^

I think I played him last on Saturday in the late afternoon EST. I find the best way to play people is to just send a friend request and a message and they’ll prolly add you. Then you can see them if they are online.

Yes xxMoRox is a fun viper to play, he usually beats my Guile, and we trade with Zang n Blanka too

is xxMoRox from NY?

Fair warning: If anyone comes across a player ‘wingsofahero’ He’s the only one I’ve seen played has psychic dp’s on reaction with his Main Ryu. Seriously, it’s like on par with Ume Shoryu or something.

He’s tried to join my session at times and I’ve joined his via arcade rec at times - Sadly 2Bar connection though I have a feeling we have fought before.

Agree with C2Q about Lag & Sim. Tried to play Bagelobo and it was absolutely disgustingly bad to try and do anything, made me out to be completely incompetant when in reality I couldn’t block, focus dash (Just focus) or do anything for that matter on our connection - Then again it was Ireland to US so I wasn’t a bit suprised - But aye, Dhalsim is horrendous to fight with lag. I’d really love to fight a solid Sim on GFWL - He’s so rare to find and most I’ve found just teleport crossup all day or sniper all day and get crapped on for it.

Sorry for the delay in responses here folks, will add the new names to the list right away.

I’d argue that Sim actually has a worse time with lag. His moves are all weak, he has low health, and he relies so heavily on anti-airs, tech throws, and interrupts in opponents’ attack strings.

But regardless, here’s another for the list:
Tupacula (United States)
He plays many characters well including Balrog, Cammy, Ryu, Rufus, and Bison

It’s no picnic for any character - But I’m talking in regards to Rog on Sim. Sim has to play keepaway, Balrog has to get in your face… Trying to get into a keepaway’s face with chronic lag is not going to go down well for the one trying to get in at all. I couldn’t focus dash one single limb attack or block crossups in time with the delay and lag, it was a total nightmare and pretty damn embarassing ontop of that. You could have probably beaten me just mashing limbs all day.

Adding Tupacula to the list.

Actually when you are using a combo reliant character, if you drop your combo in order to carry on your pressure due to lag and sim can just tp out for free and you have to chase him all over again, it isnt exactly easy. Also timing os’s that are supposed to be safe jumps isnt exactly cake with delay. I’m just biased though because I use akuma and hes really reliant on his tatsu sweep mixups and certain OS’s that work well against sim or seth upon wakeup.

All im saying is that you are more likely to lose to sim with lag than any other character with the same amount of lag. Thats why the matchup is dumb and im just going to counterpick in ae.

And as rope said, I’ve nearly lost or lost to even worse sims who just limb all day without any thought. You will walk into that shit all the time if you cant block on reaction due to delay. Its retarded. I mean its not as bad as blanka or rog matchups because even when they tap or ball you can still block in time if there is delay.

Sim can’t teleport out of corners and some chars can keep him there pretty much indefinitely if they want (Cammy, Rufus, Fei Long, Bison, Zangief, etc) So Sim’s main goal is #1 to keep people away with well timed anti-airs/interrupts/pokes, and #2 to stay the hell out of corners. With lag, timing anti-airs and interrupts is not going to go very well. Most of the time I have to choose to not anti-air simply because it becomes too unreliable. Sim is going to have to deal with up close mixups a lot more, which is his horrible weakness.

When Sim gets backed into the corner it becomes this incredibly annoying reactionary turtle game, where he basically sits there eating chip damage and trying to block mixups, tech throws, or interrupt attack strings with little pokes. With lag, doing any one of these is 10x harder. Keep in mind, Sim can’t meaningfully punish much of anything without a full Super meter. Sim makes a mistake, he eats a 50% combo, the other guy makes a mistake, Sim does 5% damage.

I think you are seeing the matchup only from Akuma’s perspective. Maybe in that instance Sim doesn’t have it as bad as Akuma. Sim doesn’t need to do as much anti-airing against him, and Akuma is one of the 2 characters with worse health than Sim. Trust me, against most other chararacters it is awful. I will lose to laggy Kens, Vegas, Sagats, or anyone else with high damage normals because I cannot anti-air to keep them away. If I eat one jumping attack because of a mistimed AA, its like 15-20% of Sim’s life by itself.

well in the end the real culprit is lag. It wouldnt be so bad if it was a regular offline match imo.

Have played against a lot of people listed here and not had much troubles beating them, so it would be cool to play some more!

Djooxy is who I first started playing with after SSF4 on the PSN went down

Could you two let me know what Country you are playing in and what characters you play as (Assuming you want to be added to the list) please?

Played a guy named Floust. He will RQ on you and send you hatemail and kick you out when he gets his first win.
Just a warning.

Thanks bagelobo for mentioning my name.

And good job on the thread RopeDrink.

You can also add the following two:
ihitnoobs - (US) (Ryu, Sagat) The guy has a big ego, but he’s pretty good
Tommy Hildizzle - (US) (Honda)

Thanks, I will - Sorry folks, not checked back here since SRK’s shiny new look - Will add the two new names.

I remember the matches against RopeDrink, really entertaining for sure.
Let alone the fact that he’s using a keyboard is honorable enough but he - on top of that - overwhelms his opponents with this amazing display of Boxer skills.
I myself am only using a Playstation 2 controller and know what hardships non-arcadestick users have to go through. On the other hand the controls for SF4 have been dumbed down a bit in comparison to the old Street Fighter 2 / Third Strike days, so I guess 'cause it has become easier to do combos / special moves now, it evens out. To conclude, I suppose you could say that playing against RopeDrink is a unique experience for sure. But I digress…

To everyone: I’ve improved my gameplay since I’ve been added to that list. Feel free to challenge me (again), I’m always looking for competition!
Beginners and scrubs don’t realize it, but SF4 online really went downhill. Since I’ve looked deeper into the game-mechanics I can see now which players are truly skilled and which ones are just mashers. It’s really rare to find someone these days who doesn’t shoryuken you out of your combo if he gets the chance, taunts if he thinks that he’s superior or turns on the lagswitch once he’s on the verge of defeat. Heh I digress again …^^

Btw: Any chance of reviving this thread once “AE” got released?

Apparantly it IS released, or so someone has said on my channel - Not sure if it’s true.

As for me, don’t give me too much credit, I am by no means a good SF4 player - Yes, I know Balrog to a bigger extent than some but my victories are almost 100% down to the fact that I try to be tricky with the one character in the game who has the most limited and predictable tricks. I still suffer some extremely embarassing and scrubby losses, too, but at the end of the day it’s all fun and games.

Well folks it was good while it lasted.

I’ve moved on to SSF4 AE on PC as I’m sure most of the above list has also done, rendering this thread obsolete to all but those who won’t buy AE PC (even then it wont help as most of the player list won’t be on vanilla anymore).

In time I’m sure we can re-make this thread for the AE PC community and start from scratch - Until then, adios and thanks to everyone who contributed and to all the people I’ve played on the list. See you in AE!
