Recent Purchases and Good Finds

I just got a Ceramic White PlayStation2 via UPS today.

Damn thing is immaculate, not even a spec of dust visible on the cooling fan. Now I just need to find a ceramic white 8MB memory card to match it.

And you should see if you can find a ceramic white network adapter too. Nothing like having a complete setup.

Awww. I bet thatā€™s a bitch to find.

That PS2 is gorgeous though. I <3 my fatty PS2 with HDLoader and shmups. Not having the laser die out = win.

Is there a ceramic white network adapter? Iā€™d never seen it before.

I want to find a CW vertical stand as well.

Fatty PS2 for life. Iā€™ve never liked the slim PS2. The one I bought was the last model of the fat PS2, the same as my current NA PS2 and itā€™s worked wonderfully the pastā€¦ wow 6 years in February.

Good get there, Kazujiro! Iā€™ve always wanted a ceramic white PlayStation 2, but I always worried about it yellowing or some jazz. :xeye:

I suppose my concerns are baseless though; look at how many people still have perfect conditioned white Segata Sanshiro promoted Sega Saturns!

Iā€™ll say! Iā€™m running Free MC Boot with HDLoader to play backups of my PS2 fighters. Itā€™s AMAZING how many more matches of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core my friends and I play when load times are made instantaneous thanks to the game being installed on a hard drive! :wow:

Now I just gotta watch out that this old IDE 500 GB Toshiba HDD Iā€™m running doesnā€™t die on me! Itā€™s so hard to find IDE HDDs nowadays.

I agree; the original PS2s were the best. Though those new SCPH-90000 series slims are really damn sexy with their newly integrated power circuits. Those things are DAMN portable!

Also, I donā€™t think that Sony ever made an official ceramic white Network Adapter. Hell, I donā€™t think they made those in any color except black. However, if you take apart a Network Adapter and paint the black plastic white, it should serve the same purpose!

Iā€™d thought about this but I donā€™t think it should be too much of a concern. They should be obtainable on eBay for another half-century or so.

what Kaz need now is this memory card in white. looks they are rare too

I also found white ps2 that is 55000 gt isnt those rare too

Aww, he should definitely get it for the kitties.

I was thinking the same thing, despite the fact that Iā€™ve never actually owned something that yellowed. I have purchased a few used things that had. :arazz:

Watching it freeze on a battle scene and give me a Windows runtime error - PRICELESS!!! :wasted:

Luckilyā€¦ after about the 30th reboot and play to error message it gave me an extra ā€œWindows virtual memoryā€ error. As soon as I saw that I upped the ram to a single module of 1GB from the dual modules of 256MB and Voila! the system is working perfectly. I guess when the game got to the point of needing to render some serious graphics, it would run out of ram and crash the application. The game looks fantastic! I canā€™t wait to play it! Iā€™ll post pics of the X2 and my gaming rig if requested.

I totally need this to build my custom vewlix cab :wgrin:

Soonā€¦ I will haveā€¦ Street Fighter IV!

Nice buy, cant wait to see some pics of it all in action.

Ceramic white PSTwo units are awesome. I got 3 of the Singstar bundles when they were clearanced from Best Buy last year. $60 each bundle!

I ended up giving one to a lady friend <3 She loved it!

If you donā€™t mind wireless sticks, Amazon has the Tekken 6 game AND stick super-cheap with free shipping. Donā€™t know how long this is gonna last.

Xbox 360 Deal (~$70)

PS3 Deal (~$80)

dunno if anyoneā€™s interested but Iā€™ll post up anyway.

Anyone thinking of doing any modding or just wants to be prepared anyway, and wants some small gauge wire. Donā€™t buy those 30ā€™ rolls of it, check this out first:

.05$ for a round IDE cable you can cannibalize. thatā€™s 36 wires on each cable at an almost perfect precut length to do mods. 28 gauge pre-tinned stranded too.

shippingā€™s like 8 bucks, but for that price itā€™s still cheaper than finding 30ā€™ rolls on Ebay for 3 bucks plus the shipping, and these are all multi-color in each cable.

edit: if anyoneā€™s curious, yes thatā€™s where I got and use all of the wire I mod with. I cannibalized an old round IDE cable, itā€™s worked fantasticā€¦and retardedly cheap too since itā€™s surprisingly hard to find good deals on small gauge wire unless you want to order a fuckton of it.

now that is resourceful

thanks for the tip on cannibalizing those cables. we have a TON of them in the warehouse at work.

Just recently got two PS2-to-Saturn converters off of TotoTEK based in Hong Kong.

Iā€™d been looking for a converter or Universal PCB that would let me use newer joysticks on the old system! So many good fighting games on that system. No reliable emulator online for it that would play everything, and so many of those games havenā€™t been reprinted/ported to newer systems since their original release.

Iā€™m still in the market for a dual-converter (Saturn/PS2) for Dreamcast but the guy that has those converters on e-Bay is charging too much I think for used productā€¦

As for Ceramic White PlayStations, I like 'em myself but donā€™t want to pay $99 for a new PS2 when I have two working units. ($60 sounds good, though. Leave it to MarkMan to find a good deal on the SingStar release!) Newer PS2s are harder to mod to play Japanese games at any rate. Sony redesigned them after they figured out the simple mod trick people were using to play games like Macross and Arcana Heart (pre-American release) on Region 1 machines. They basically put in a metal gate in an area that didnā€™t have that part before. It was pain to mod my Silver PS2 to play R2 games. Piece of cake modding the first-gen black slim PS2, though!

The Slim PS2 has been my most reliable Sony product after the PS3ā€¦ They pretty much fixed all the issues I had with the original PS1 and cured the worst fat-gen PS2 problems.

Keep watching eBay. They occasionally go for a reasonable price. They normally sell for $35-40 here.

What I didnā€™t like about the PS2/Saturn => DC converter cable listing is that the same guy had those cables available last month for $29.99 each.

AFTER they didnā€™t sell, he marks them up to $39.99!

Does that make sense to anyone???

Still would like to get 'em but I think the price is a bit much.

Iā€™d get both if he could cut me a deal but you canā€™t negotiate like that on e-Bayā€¦

i just bought an SE stick from newegg for $43.99 free shipping too. but man the buttons on this thing is crap, iā€™ve had it for 2 days only and the buttons are already dying on me >_<
