nice. The Agetec alone got to worth $40 - $65 on eBay, and the dreamcast is about $50, you got it for a steal.
People pay 50 bucks for a DC these days?
dude older stuff is shooting up in price like crazy. One SRK member reported you are lucky to find a (original form-factor/ non-slim) PS2 that been labeled as for parts/not working for $40 on ebay. And the crazy thing is the Dreamcast as long discontinued as it is still gets new game releases.
There were a lot more Dreamcasts produced and sold than most people are aware.
Just under 11 million Dreamcasts were actually produced. The rough estimate is 10.6 million.
Thatās really not much more than the Sega Saturn which was considered more successful⦠The Saturn was officially supported longer than the Dreamcast was. The Dreamcast was just ājail-breakedā and generally easier to program for which is why third party companies are still developing shooters most of which donāt seem much better than late PS1-era games to be honest.
Also, there were brand-new Dreamcasts being sold in Japan as recently as 2007⦠import shops like JapanVideoGames were selling brand-new Dreamcasts until they ran out of inventory roughly 18 months ago.
$50 is not bad for a Dreamcast thatās in excellent shape. Most Iāve seen in person are fairly rough and sell down to $30.
A few years back, there was a large sell-off of Dreamcasts on e-Bay. People were buying systems for under $20 during that period.
Picture of sturnwind coming out this year it looks much better than PS1 era Georgy and there are others

Seems like an exception to the rule but then again Iāve never been big into sidescrolling shooters⦠Just donāt have a lot of favorites in that genre or the time to go through games that require a million continues to beat!
Just snagged an Astro City Cab. YES!!! Finally a candy home for my 6 slot MVS!
This is the one thatās supposed to have an Godlike CD player right?
Congrats. I wish I could afford the space and cost of an Astro cab. Glad to see that another cab has found a good home. Maybe someday Iāll have my own.
Thanks man. Itās definitely in need of some TLC. Iāll be doing a complete overhaul of the cab and iām going ot try and squeeze my 6-Slot MVS board in it!
So I tried to install the UVC in my Super Neo 29. I was able to get the UVC splash screen up correctly but when I hooked up my 360 via VGA, it still had something wrong with the picture. It was grainy like I was playing on an old TV with bad reception. I tried tying the V-synch and H-synch together, tried removing the V-synch altogether, and played with the DIP switches and nothing would fix the grainy pictureā¦so I switched back to the SCART hack.
Its shouldnāt be grainy. First, have you set the 360 outputting 640x480 @ 60hz? Secondly, is the vga cable an official microsoft one or 3rd party one? Thirdly, set the uvc outputting only H-Sync, that will output composite sync which your jamma connection should accept. Anotherwords, al dip should be on the "on"position. Dont give up, it will give a cleaner image compared to 480i via pure scart output from the 360.
I did have all dips on the first time as i think it shipped that way, but I had to switch dip 3 off for 15khz. I have resolution to auto detect. Thatās the only way I could get any video to show. I did use an external power supply that was in turn plugged into another power strip. And I am using a third party VGA cable. So if I solder the power directly to the JAMMA power points and use an official VGA cable you think that will solve the problem?
I see your problem, its the external power supply. Its a hit and miss with regards to a replacement. The one I had lying around the house was causing severe noise on video but I bought a replacement one (that does sata as well) and that has no issues with the video. I dont think you will have that issue as well if you draw the power directly from the jamma power supply. Dont replace the vga cable just yet as I think the power supply is the culprit for you to enjoy the uvcās goodness. Leave dip3 on for 15khz, off = 24khz and unless your chassis does autoswitching you risk damaging the components in the monitor.
I like to play Power Stone with my kids on dream cast.
Can also be the 3rd party VGA cable. I used to have lots of ghosting with a 3rd party VGA cord but with the Microsoft one, picture is crystal clear.
Somebodyās not looking in the right place, then.
Iāve seen GameCubes going for $20; Fatty PS2ās for $30 tops; slimline PS2ās for $40; and Wiiās for under $100⦠ALL working condition, none of this crap about "this is good for spare parts!"
GameStop can have decent prices but you sometimes need to extend beyond the usual circles. For instance, some used bookstores are actually starting to carry used game systems going back to at least the NES era. In my area, thereās at least one gamestore specializing in retro gear (and in fact, Iām thinking of buying a Dreamcast from these fellows in the future!) as well as old consoles and games⦠I saw tons of Genesis cartridges at that location!
Thereās also a chain of gamestores that specializes in used games thatās in several places around Columbus.
Again, itās just expanding and looking sometimes where you donāt expect to see these things.
Definitely its the power supply, I had the exact problem as him when I used my older external hdd power adapter and the anormaly when away when the new adapter is used. But, you are right, the msoft VGA cable gives a cleaner picture, however if the power is bad then the picture is bad irregards to which cable you use.
If one looks about one can find them in thrift shops for pretty fair prices. I just bought 15 N64 games, and an N64 game storage unit for $3 each for games and $.25 for the case. All good games too (paper mario, mario party 1 and 2, smash bro.s, golden eye, zelda ocarina and majoras (two ocarinas), etc⦠I do thrifting.
as an aside I Finally got my (new) Hori V3, nice stick. Buttons tighter than the Sanwas on my Vlx, but nice none-the-less. I like my gear like my carsā¦stock. Cheerio.
Congrats. I want one of these bad boys as well. They are beautiful machines.
