Super SFII Turbo with 4 to 6 new characters, at least one new Command Normal/Special Attack/Super Attack for every returning character. And DO NOT change the gameplay at all, keep all the powerful stuff in the original ST like Typhoon loops, knockdown Wall Dives, one button throws, etc (altho changing Ken’s Crazy Kicks motions would be cool, and give reversal Supers to Sagat, Dhalsim and Ken, and ban Akuma from online play, other than that no other changes to the classic gameplay, just add to it). Oh and international release too.
A reboot of Samurai Shodown 2 would be cool too, new characters but same gameplay.

kinda share the same sentiment about the Project Soul series 'cause honestly, it IS starting to kinda get stale. reboots of Samurai Shodown and Star Gladiator would be awesome alternatives to Soul Calibur and will push it’s developers to be more creative
another developer should pick it up but i feel Capcom did a great job with it. imo, this has got to be up there with the Darkstalkers series revival. Stand Mode was really unique, the CPS III animation [at the time] was excellent and the some of the supers were pretty awesome [cadillac’s in your face anyone?]

definitely needs a reboot so there can be another weapons-based fighting game, although Namco-Bandai seem keen on keeping the Soul Calibur series active
after seeing batsu on TvC UAS, there is great potential to hammer out a new Rival Schools/Project Justice sequel. same goes for Power Stone, especially part 2. that game was crazy, mad FUN! NOT feeling a reboot to Fighting Vipers though…

We need a new World Heroes game. It’s not like SNK has been sitting on the rights to the characters for years and years now. We’ll never see any of the Data East games brought back unfortunately, since they’re owned by some mobile company now. A shame since Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty was the best fighting game ever based on classic literature (of the two I know of).**
Primal Rage(which i think is a Netherealm IP anyways) Battle arena Toshindin and lastly Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters.
Then the Data East fighters as those IP’s are unused by the owners they are pretty much a garage sale for IP’s if the mobile provider is approached.
Namco Bandai have the rights to JoJo’s atm don’t they? Phantom Blood was an awesome game after the first couple of levels. I’d seriously love a new JoJo’s fighting game though, JJBA: Heritage for the Future is the best fighting game ever.
It’d be great to see a new Garou, Samurai Shodown, Guilty Gear (is that considered old school now?).

personally, that signature thread on srk is a big fucking joke. That thread is past over a thousand posts and the vampire savior\hunter rooms on GGPO have barely grown even though they’re 100% free to play. I seriously can’t understand how that many people can support a franchise but NOT play the games. Does that make sense to anyone else?
There is only a few ways to support a game and its by playing it casually or in tournaments. A signature thread isn’t exactly supporting the game or proving to developers that the game can be successful over here. If anything, it reminds me of the crap capcomunity tries to pull with mega threads full of signatures for mega man to make an appearance for DLC.
vampire savior\hunter has NEVER been popular here and its been a pure Japanese tournament game. There is a reason that mvc2 got a new installment, its because for 10 years people played the living fuck out of the game. Developers realized there was still a market and a new one could do possibly well. That same aura for a game to do well isn’t there for darkstalkers. People need to play the games to prove to developers its worth a new version, not support a signature thread and basically don’t touch the game lol
vampire savior\hunter are FREE to play on GGPO and by playing on GGPO regularly, this will promote more people to play the game offline for tournaments. Which in turn catches the developers eye as to whether or not the game will sell well. The ONLY reason you see any reminisce of a US vampire savior scene is solely due to GGPO players making an effort to play online and teach new players, then setting up tournaments for offline.
if people want to support a new DS game, step #1 is get your asses on GGPO and start playing casually. Step #2 is to promote DS tournaments and stream them. You don’t need a beastly ass computer to play on GGPO, I guarantee you everyone on srk is highly capable of running vs\vh on your PC 100% accurately.

Realistically, I’d only be interested in SNK’s offerings, since they’re the only fg company that hasn’t seemingly ‘lost their way’, to a degree.

anyways, @shultz above. The real advantage of a reboot is getting a ton of fresh blood in. A lot of these older games have critically small communities, not really enough to carry people. Especially since folks are embarrassed to come in and play against people that have been playing steadily for years if new.
So really a game worthy of reboot has to be something that really could use the new life, that people don’t mind being changed (because they will be changed), or especially something that’s simply not really offered right now (like Bushido Blade).
The model for a reboot really can go one of 2 ways; Like ST>HDR or like MK/SF4.
It feels like a lot of folks want HDR style reboots of games (to the guy that said he wanted ST redone), but you should remember that lesson. That’s what it’s gonna look like, give or take.
Rival Schools , Buriki One and Fatal Fury comes to mind.
am I the only person who thinks going up against gods in a particular game and trying to beat their 10+ years of skill is fun? not only that, there are variable skill levels on GGPO so everyone will have someone of equal skill to go up against.
that is seriously some pussy shit and only for fighting games does that shit apply. Rookies are always complaining about not getting enough play time in sports going up against great players, they’re striving to prove themselves against the gods. When kobe had the ball against Jordan for the first time you don’t think he wanted to be there and take him on? jordan had 10+ years on him and kobe was just itching for a shot to go up against a legend. I really can’t believe people have a pussy ass attitude like that.
and vampire savior isn’t this super tough game. Its basically the first version of GG and anyone who plays bb\mvc3\ah3 etc…can easily transition into this game in no time. One of the better players playing ATM has been playing for barely over a year and he was a beast in 3 months while playing one of the most technical characters in the game.
for me personally, asking for a reboot of DS would be like drawing a mustache on the mona lisa. You just don’t fuck with a masterpiece because someone else might enjoy it for what it is.
If anyone is seriously worried about Pride and it getting hurt and they don’t play for that reason, please continue not playing.

I kind of agree with you about doing a new darkstalkers, I don’t think they’d do it right for a number of reasons… although I don’t think they’d do it anyways, the petition thing I think was just their way of putting folks off and pretending to listen to fan demand.

Which actually brings up what seems to me to be the good solution to the ‘reboot’ question. People almost certainly aren’t gonna like the changes to any game they redo anyways, and its a massively expensive project that’d probably lose money for almost all the games people are talking about.
On the other hand, throwing some netcode on some titles and releasing them for live/psn (ala 3s or HDR, but sans all the redone art), seems like a win-win. The additional promotion will draw some new players in, its not massively expensive, and it makes the game much more available.
GGPO is great, but not so much for the massive number of people that have never even heard of it
