Yeah that’s true, though the Tekken in me still wants to call them {overheads} mids to my mind can grasp how to block it. :razzy: I guess I’m starting to notice it more since I’ve been trying to improve my Julia, and also got blown up by friend who’s learning Nina.
So long as the colors aren’t just more shades of grey and white. >.<
well… er, . ive always thought of highs as those moves that wiff on crouchers. of course this being a capcom fighter, some “highs” become special mids…
if we were to call it what it really is there are 4 distinct hitlevels in capcom fighters with overheads:
highs, which are duckable but many times are matchup specific.
special mids, which can be crouch or high blocked (shoto cr.mp, most specials, fireballs etc etc)
mids (overheads, in a nutshell)
lows…
ever since capcom introduced overheads they should have switched to that type of notation… makes stuff easier to understand.
Why? is an honest opinion, is something good to hear and maybe the devs can introduce a variety of new characters in the next games.
The complains about the game are fair, because we are in a new era of players and these things are understandable, if a major company introduces new mechanics in order to focus on a different base of players other companies will do it in the future, i like complicated inputs (lol), they are not hard for me because i’m still playing those games that “no one gives a shit” ironically these inputs existed for years and years and when the game came out i was really surprised to see a lot of people complaining about this (some new FG games makes some people lazy, just like some new FPS and every new game on the market, no offense), new players in my local community don’t have problems with the game after 1 week and they come from games like mvc3 and SFIV, yeah, is a more underground game but i don’t think is hard to play, i hope that SNK in the future can make things more accesible (if that’s the case) for both veterans and newcomers, the online is another thing because is unreliable but if you have some friends you can still play some good matches, i hope that SNK can learn from these experiences, in the US is a complete different thing considering KOF never had an scene before XIII and now the community is still growing thanks to the great support of all the FG community, outside the US is a huge game and some of you will be surprised how many people come for KOF tournaments in those countries.
On Topic: i think this thread needs to die, ultimately the SFxT forums are a Warzone because of some stupid complains, some people are forcing this game to be another game, the only things that needs to be patched are the infinites and glitches, nothing more, the game is like this, deal with it or play other games, don’t force yourself to like the game in case you are really are not enjoying it.
You guys can just keep playing, figure out how the basics work in this game and then teach other people. But I guess locking the thread and then taking the game for what it is might too much in the era of patching.
Can’t say I find sfxt enjoyable but I don’t hate it either, It just seems boring so far, probably because I haven’t found a character I actually like using, hopefully Bryan and Cody will change that also I’m hoping Alex gets put in at a later date because that in game hint of him returning is ambiguous as hell.
Actually enjoying the characters your playing does so much for how you view the game as a whole. I was getting a little bored during my two weeks of soul searching, but I’ve had great success with Cammy and Steve and I’ve felt like not only have they allowed me to look past how to play the characters and look more at the game mechanics in general, but allowed me to actually enjoy playing SFxT because I think they’re both really a load of fun.
I really liked this game the first week it was out, then had to step back and look at it and wasn’t overly happy, then I completely adjusted to it and am loving it, the only real issue I’m having is finding a main other then Hugo, I only rep hugo out of love even though he feels weird as hell in this coming from 3s… I want my old school triple clap combos back.
but man i can’t wait for p4u. yu is looking sweet. and it’s same people don’t like bb, because i do think it has come a LONGGGGGGGG way from the broken mess ( although fun ) mess that was called ct or cs1.
I think while inviting forumers to recommend changes to the game to “save” it, we need to establish certain ground rules:
Said change must be in-line with the game design philosophy (fast-paced, flashy, rewards good reads and skill, better player always wins, encourages variety in gameplay styles and customization, small learning curve, take cues from game mechanics of both game systems etc.).
What that is not broken should not be fixed. Only recommend subtle changes that are absolutely “necessary” to improve the overall balance of the game.
To be honest, I still think most of the games issues stem from the frame/hitbox data. And that’s actually pretty easy to patch up.
The timer is the biggest systemic thing that needs a change.
Also, a personal wish:
Make all air-to-air’s and anti-airs produce a juggle state (when against an airborne opponent). The whole counter-hit thing just makes confirming weird and semi-random.
