I made an objective SSF4 Tier List based on Battle Points. This is what you get:
1 M. Bison
2 Sagat
3 Blanka
4 Abel
5 Seth
6 Ken
7 Dhalsim
8 Ryu
9 Guile
10 Yun
11 E. Honda
12 Cammy
13 Rose
14 Ibuki
15 Vega
16 Zangief
17 Guy
18 Chun-Li
19 Gen
20 Akuma
21 Balrog
22 Dee Jay
23 Adon
24 Fei Long
25 Gouken
26 Juri
27 Makoto
28 T. Hawk
29 Cody
30 C. Viper
31 Sakura
32 Evil Ryu
33 El fuerte
34 Hakan
35 Dudley
36 Oni
37 Rufus
38 Dan
39 Yang
As you can see Dudley is pretty down there, being [S]Akuma[/S] Yang the worst.
It is the a way to do an unbiased analysis of Tier List.
And people usually say battle points don’t mean anything but that is when you compare 2 players since one may not play online. That wasn’t done here. This study compares top battle points around the world so many of those arguments are filtered out. Anyway I am picking Bison as my ALT.
objective + BP = does not compute. tiers are always debatable, and this one, no offense, doesn’t really accurately rank each character according to how good they are. Yun 10th and Bison top tier? reeeeeaally now?
It is just an unbiased criteria. Doesn’t mean I totally agree with it. Other criteria would be maybe collecting data from major tournaments around the world for each character and making another list.
Anyway I suspect Dudley would be ranked down in that list too.
then this isn’t a “Real SSF4 AE Tier List” as you put it. it’s more of a list of characters ranked by BP. characters have been tiered by results from majors, so that automatically puts the usual suspects on top: Yun, Fei, Viper, etc.
This is actually a “biased” tier list. Online rankings are majorly affected by network lag which is always present (although apparently more endurable in Japan). It could be that dictator is actually the easiest character to play online because his combos and play style cater to laggy connections while characters like Akuma, Dudley, the twins and Viper, are execution heavy in terms of consecutive button presses, while Dictator only needs to abuse three buttons: cr.short, st.forward and st.roundhouse.
Tournament and Online are entirely two different playing fields, a tier list based on matchup is the most unbiased because regardless of the playing field the character with the least amount of unfavorable matchups will be top tier while those with the worse won’t do as well, overall.
Here’s one I made awhile back: It probably changed a little but it is MUCH more accurate then the OP lol
Old Tierlist
Spoiler
Blanka is a bit out there… he was really booted by Tsrai’s BP (had around 100000 at the time) and if I took just his out Blanka would be closer to low C tier. BUT i was making an unbiased list so I left it as is. What do you guys think?
Hi, I am not claiming this list is accurate. Of course it is influenced by boosters although values were averaged to filter somewhat that effect. Also it doesn’t contrast too much with Old Tierlist (mostly except Yang).
The only conclusions I made from this list is that Dudley is low tier (as most lists suggest) and that Bison is better than most people think. Actually I don’t know how to play Bison and I can get pretty good results with him beating some higher ranked players. His normals seem fast and have good range, jumps high and hits from above (fireballs no problem), cross ups, good damage. Although I prefer Dudley style of play.
all this tells us is what characters the ppl who play online the most use.
it would be somewhat better if u based this on PP instead of BP. atleast PP is actually based on how successful someone is with a given character, rather than how many matches they’ve played using them.
charge characters still run this game but no one wants to believe me. the hong kong trio should be hailed as heroes for thwarting the evil that is the db(2)-f+p/k. think about it. 3DS guile is S+ tier without charge times. just goes to show he’s a broken character only held back by 1.5 second delays in sonic boom releases.
You don’t know too much about Street Fighter do you? Last year at Evo, where it was supposedly Charge Character 4, only 1 made top 4 and only 3 made top 8. A lot of the Charge characters were good and solid, but they weren’t like Yun who created 7-3’s and 8-2’s. If you don’t like charge characters, and it seems you probably only like rushdown, then you should really go play a different game.
SF’s fundamentals are there, and they include charge characters for a reason. Super’s top tier was 7+ characters, while AE’s is 3. Super had maybe only 5-8 matchups at 7-3 or worse, while AE has 12+. The fact that AE is very unbalanced compared to Super is obvious.
