Real SSF4 AE Tier List

You don’t know too much about Street Fighter do you? Last year at Evo, where it was supposedly Charge Character 4, only 1 made top 4 and only 3 made top 8. A lot of the Charge characters were good and solid, but they weren’t like Yun who created 7-3’s and 8-2’s. If you don’t like charge characters, and it seems you probably only like rushdown, then you should really go play a different game.

SF’s fundamentals are there, and they include charge characters for a reason. Super’s top tier was 7+ characters, while AE’s is 3. Super had maybe only 5-8 matchups at 7-3 or worse, while AE has 12+. The fact that AE is very unbalanced compared to Super is obvious.

If you can’t tell I’m calling you out on the bullshit Super had few 7-3s. Most of the new Super characters were ass. Honda and Cammy had 5-8 7-3 matchups each.

People saying AE is unbalanced compared to Super probably played characters that got replaced by the Hong Kong trio. Super has like decent balance until 13 characters in and then it completely drops off.

OBVIOUSLY, charge characters are ridiculous if you take away something like CHARGING. Saying something like that isn’t going to support anything.

If you have a problem with the pace and gameplay of SF when approx. 1/3 of the cast is on the screen, maybe you shouldn’t play it. I don’t know why you think we should be grateful for a game with a really defined S tier because I’m sure most of the playerbase isn’t considering they are patching the game. The top tier characters in Super at least promoted good fundamentals, where as the twins get ridiculous matchups against a lot of the cast and really skewed risk-reward.

There was no S tier in Super because the top was better. AE nerfed too many good characters to shit per request of shit players and just left the “sleeper top tier” Fei Long and new well designed characters Yun and Yang to run free because the rest of the cast is meh or shit.

Fei lost more than he gained going into AE.

If Yun and Yang were left as is and were put into Super or Vanilla, they’d be A tier-ish, not runaway S tier. They were too good for a game full of shit characters (AE) and probably the only reason why AE is tolerable to watch/play.

This is actually a “biased” tier list. Online rankings are majorly affected by network lag which is always present (although apparently more endurable in Japan). It could be that dictator is actually the easiest character to play online because his combos and play style cater to laggy connections while characters like Akuma, Dudley, the twins and Viper, are execution heavy in terms of consecutive button presses, while Dictator only needs to abuse three buttons: cr.short, st.forward and st.roundhouse.

Tournament and Online are entirely two different playing fields, a tier list based on matchup is the most unbiased because regardless of the playing field the character with the least amount of unfavorable matchups will be top tier while those with the worse won’t do as well, overall.

no idea why so many people still think super was better than ae in terms of balance. i didn’t get to play super that often but if i remember right there were only around 6-10 good tourney viable characters? the rest of the casts were just lying there on the character selection screen looking cool because they were even shittier than ae. sure ae has the twins and fei long, but besides them the balance within the rest of the shitty characters are infinitely better than super. i mean i would get upset too if i main’d honda in super and it turned out that he got nerfed in ae and still beat the rest of those shitty characters that supposedly got buffed with buttsplash.

oh right opinions.
i get upset over videogames so i’ll just sum up my thoughts.

super: in this game you hold down and back, very fun.
ae: in this game you hold up forward, very fun.

Opinions and bias. I’m sure a lot of people who think Super was fair and balanced played a character that was good in Super that is now worse in AE. Bias and butthurt lead to rose-colored glasses. Btw, this is an opinion that I am willing to admit is wrong in the future.

Seems more like a “tier by popularity” list to me. For most characters getting 1000BP will put you in the top 1000 on the character leaderboards while for others you’ll still be around 4000-5000 place
