I personally have no complaints about VF5s netcode. It doesnt have extra features like lobbies and stuff, but it makes up for it by playing awesome.
Really? Maybe a isolated occurance? My experience was great. I was able to play people from Japan/Korea/UK with no prob in doing fuzzy guards, throw escapes, hit throws, punishing, teching (Wolfs GS) etc. One example, I played ChiefGutti a good amount of mirrors and neither of us experienced any probs whatsoever.
When i played offline with friends, i felt no difference. VF5 netcode was great. Only people that gave me lag probs was people from South America.
I’ll also vouch for VF5’s netcode. the only time i had a laggy match was with somebody from Hong Kong (and I was east coast) and it was still playable. Good times…
They don’t really care about you having a good experience(if they did it wouldn’t have shipped in such a poor state), it’s just that the amount of people playing it has dropped off significantly, and all the extra dlc content they had in store would pretty much go to waste.
VF5’s netcode is good, it’s great, but you guys are crazy to think it’s unnoticeable lag when you play individuals that far away from you. I can feel the lag playing someone that’s 3-5 states away from me, east coast(which is all I prefer to battle against online) like I can in every game online.
It’s subtle sometimes, you don’t pick it up until you try to do things like stair and box stepping, and trying to get your throws to clash.
I be totally afraid to play people from the midwest, west, and UK, in every game though. I try to stick to maximum bars in every game I play online.
I dunno. I never experienced anything that was affecting my gameplay with Sarah, Elieen and Akira unless either the opps connection was horrible or if they were from South America. Maybe some people were the exception to this i suppose since this is actually the first time im hearing about it. I dont remember hearing about it @ VFDC since every post concerning it was disbelief about how good it was since it (at the time) that VF was impossible online. People being able to hit JFs no prob with players from opposite coasts and what not.
I had alot of vids up @ my Youtube acct with players from Japan, UK, Korea, etc. and you see TEs from both sides, fuzzies, whiff punishes etc. Youtube did take alot down but some are still up on there.
Well I mean, I play Konjou alot online, and then whenever I play him offline, our gameplay and matches are seamless and practically no difference whatsoever. But him and I both know, that if one of us was across the coast, or across the atlantic, then it wouldn’t work out like that anymore. Every match would be throwaways.
VF5 has great netcode, it’s the best for 3d. You can have playable matches again people east to west and all that, but it becomes less of the same VF game. You’ll be playing in mud. It’s pretty weird though, because I always play max bar only, but sometimes I’ve played people with 1 bar and it was totally smooth.
Also lag is asymmetrical, you could be having no delay, but your opponent might not be as fortunate.
Still further offtopic, I hope that Tekken 6’s netcode is atleast on par with VF5’s.
shrug I look at it this way: if both sides can do the aforementioned stuff no prob, then its all good.
I would usually ask peeps from the UK (ChiefGutti, Zeextremekid etc) after the match if there were any lag and none reported. I would ask because i myself was in disbelief at how good the connections were. I would get some replies from JP/KR peeps who understood some english, but they were usually simple replies like “no lag problem”.
I guess it just differed from person to person.
I think that’s pretty much it right there.
I’ve had some pretty smooth matches in some places too that brought some serious disbelief
VF5 definitely has a good netcode. You can play East coast to West coast without noticeable lag. I’ve played East coast to some places in Europe and had very little lag as well.
I like the announcement saying “extremely positive results…” That means it’s gotta be at least pretty playable. Especially if they’re saying that their international testing results have been “extremely positive.” At least continental USA will have great games if it’s as good as they are claiming (though I doubt they’d admit it was bad). Connection within the Northeast (ie Boston to NYC) should be nearly flawless I hope…
I know they did international testing (at least Japan to USA) so hopefully they really put this patch through the right paces to ensure it was good and stable over some distance. Obviously there’s NEVER any guarantees, but we can hope it works well enough that we’re all happy. If the online becomes fully functional, this game has plenty of competitive potential.
Hope it comes next week really bad.
EDIT: Dude, Slide, if Tekken 6’s netcode is as good as VF5, we’re gonna have a monster of a good game on our hands!!! I’m looking forward to seeing what Tekken 6 has to offer a lot!
